Race 1: Succulent Australian Beef Maiden Plate – 850 metres:
1st – Babylon Baby 2nd - Gunship 3rd - Falfario 4th - Fletcher
FALFARIO (K. Sawyers) began awkwardly and shifted in, taking RUNAWAY COUSIN (C. Kearney) in onto NOAH’S ARK (App T. Huxham) who made contact with FLETCHER (App C. Priest) and as a result NOAH’S ARK shifted in contacting the heels of RUNAWAY COUSIN and dipped, losing valuable ground.
SALLY SEQUALO (R. Hancock) dwelt at the start. Jockey Hancock advised Stewards that SALLY SEQUALO who was only having her third race start raced ungenerously on the sand surface.
FLETCHER raced greenly throughout and approaching the 200m was steadied from the heels of GUNSHIP (L. Appo).
Race 2: Meat Is Good For You QTIS Maiden Plate – 1170 metres:
1st – Stalwart Emma 2nd – Metaphysical 3rd – Bella Montana 4th – Rockin’ Me
Trainer K. Hill was fined the sum of $50 for presenting DOLPHIN’S DAUGHTER to race in the incorrect gear (AR140A).
BELLA MONTANA became fractious en route to the barriers and while in the barriers. Trainer G. Grainger was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare.
DOLPHIN’S DAUGHTER (M. Hughes) broke through the barriers prior to the start but was quickly restrained and passed fit to start by the club veterinary surgeon.
GRAND TURK (I. Coombes) and DOLPHIN’S DAUGHTER were both slow to begin.
VAN HOOLIGAN (D. Van Bekkum) raced wide in the early stages.
ROCKIN’ ME (K. Yoneyama) raced wide throughout.
STALWART EMMA (K. Sawyers) raced wide until the 600m.
Approaching the 600m GRAND TURK was steadied from the heels of DOLPHIN’S DAUGHTER which rolled out. GRAND TURK raced ungenerously with its head in the air from this point.
METAPHYSICAL (App T. Huxham) shifted out rounding the home turn looking for firmer going.
Race 3: Pat & Marie Nolan Class 3 Plate – 1170 metres:
1st – All Diehard 2nd – Hayil And Hearty 3rd – Shovelle 4th – Collateral Blues
Trainer S. Thomas was fined the sum of $200 for negligence in saddling when he collected the wrong saddle from the scales area (AR140A).
DYLANJAMES (App C. Priest) was slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
ALL DIEHARD (App T. Huxham) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Apprentice Huxham was reprimanded for striking ALL DIEHARD in the enclosure when the gelding became fractious.
Approaching the 700m LIKAPHANTOM (C. Eaton) laid out across the heels of BUDDHA BABE (App R. Hinricks) and was steadied.
HAYIL AND HEARTY (D. Gill) laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
Stewards questioned Jockey K. Sawyers regarding the performance of GLENROCK MATTHEW. Jockey Sawyers explained that this was the gelding’s first start on a sand track where he raced ungenerously throughout and got his head up proving difficult to ride.
Race 4: Private Selection Class B Handicap – 1470 metres:
1st – Hewilldo 2nd – Mr Nibbles 3rd – Brennan 4th – Arabia
Trainer D. Deans was advised that a warning was placed on the barrier manners of OWIE after the gelding proved difficult to load.
OWIE (App K. Yoneyama), SWIFT CASH (I. Coombes) and NIAJUL (C. Eaton) were slow to begin.
OWIE and MISSY’S GOTTHECASH (L. Appo) both raced wide throughout.
MR NIBBLES (App T. Huxham) raced wide during the middle stages.
ROAD FROM HEAVEN (App C. Priest) was steadied approaching the 150m whilst under pressure from the heels of HEWILLDO (K. Sawyers) which momentarily shifted in.
Race 5: Nolan Meats Gympie Muster Cup Open Handicap – 1600 metres:
1st – Try Some Magic 2nd – Through The Waves 3rd – Seekawinner 4th – Nevada Gambler
TRY SOME MAGIC (App K. James) jumped outwards at the start and bumped MOUNT VERNON (App K. Mizobe) onto FRISCO’S IN CHARGE (App K. Gates) resulting in MOUNT VERNON and FRISCO’S IN CHARGE becoming unbalanced.
Approaching the 1100m DON VITO (C. Eaton) raced wide and nearing the 1100m dipped and became unbalanced. Jockey Eaton advised Stewards that DON VITO was not comfortable on the sand surface from this point.
LACKADOSH (N. Thomas) and MULGA BOB (I. Coombes) raced wide during the early stages.
LACKADOSH began to lose ground after leaving the 600m whilst under pressure.
