Race 1: Gympie Funeral Services Maiden Plate 850m .
1st – Steerman 2nd – Duan Snippy 3rd – I’m Livingthedream 4th – Spedella
SARAZEN (D. McWhinney) which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and was then buffeted between DUAN SNIPPY (D. Gill) and RUNAWAY SISTER (C. Eaton), both of which shifted ground.
SANA GIRL (A. Taylor) and RUNAWAY SITER were both slow into stride.
SPEDELLA (I. Coombes) raced wide the majority of the event.
C. Eaton, the rider of RUNAWAY SISTER, reported the filly reared as the start was effected.
Race 2: Southside Family Village Class B Handicap 1030m .
1st – Craiglea Masta 2nd – Lady Rutherford 3rd – Bjorn 4th – Apache Gulf
BAG OF RIDDLES (C. Eaton) blundered on jumping away, and then stumbled, dislodging C Eaton. C Eaton was transferred to Gympie General Hospital for further medical attention.
CRAIGLE MASTA (T. Ticknell) and OAKMANTEL (B. Derbyshire) were tightened at the start between APACHE GULF (I. Coombes) and BABY RASY (C. Kearney) which shifted in.
APACHE GULF made the home turn wide.
UKOK LASS (S. Bayliss) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 3: Royal Hotel QTIS Maiden Plate 1170m .
1st - Kutcher 2nd – Apache Sox 3rd – Craiglea Art 4th – Step Up Lady
CRAIGLEA ART (B. Derbyshire) and OUTBACK CHERYL (D. Gill) made contact on jumping away.
CRAIGLEA ART commenced to hang out shortly after the start and again made contact with OUTBACK CHERYL. A short distance later, rounding the turn near the 900m, CRAIGLEA ART forced APACHE SOX (I. Coombes) wider on the track.
Near the 850m, KUTCHER (S. Bayliss) shifted out after improving onto the heels of OUTBACK CHERYL.
Inside the 50m, CRAIGLEA ART had to shift out and alter course when KUTCHER shifted in.
Race 4: Advice Partners Sustain Gympie Benchmark 65 Handicap 1600m .
1st – Harrisville Toff 2nd – Backstreet Jack 3rd – Nero’s Fire 4th – Remy Martini
Due to C Eaton being indisposed, stewards permitted S Bayliss to be the replacement rider for HARRISVILLE TOFF 0.5kg over the geldings declared weight, as he was the only senior rider available.
NERO’S FIRE (D. Gill) underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers after being kicked in the saddling enclosure, and was subsequently cleared to start.
BACKSTREET JACK (D. McIntosh) Blundered on jumping away.
ANGEL PLACE (I. Coombes) was tightened at the start between HARRISVILLE TOFF (S. Bayliss) and BINRASY (C. Kearney), both of which shifted ground.
HARRISVILLE TOFF had to be steadied leaving the home straight on the first occasion when tightened for room by BACKSTREET JACK which shifted in slightly.
Apporaching the 900m, HARRISVILLE TOFF improved onto the heels of BACKSTREET JACK and shifted out, forcing ANGEL PLACE wider on the track.
When questioned over the poor performance of ELECTROJET jockey A.Taylor stated the horse did not appreciate today’s racing surface and was unable to muster any early speed. Trainer D.Steinbeck stated that the horse did not appreciate the surface of todays event and in the future will continue the horses preparation on grass surfaces.
Race 5: Mary River Motor Inn 100 Club Open Handicap 1470m .
1st - Harney 2nd – Ausworld 3rd – Frenardi
Due To C Eaton being indisposed, stewards permitted C. Kearney to be the replacement rider for AUSWORLD.
AUSWORLD (C. Kearney) blundered on jumping away.
