After confirming with trainer Mr M Bailey, stewards accepted the request and Ms S Eilbeck was replaced with Ms A Badger.

Race 3: SHOW A FLICK – Trainer Mr Price Hill was interviewed regarding the fact that no stable return in relation to owners and colours had been submitted. Mr Hill confirmed the owners on this occasion and was reprimanded for not having done so prior to today’s meeting. He was advised to lodge a stable return to update these particulars prior to the horse’s next start.

RACE 1: DESIREE GILL – FALLEN JOCKEYS MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 850M

REHEEBS KINGDOM - Stewards accepted the reason why the I.D. card did not accompany the horse for today’s meeting. In the absence of the trainer connections were advised that the ID card, which was not presented at today’s meeting, must always accompany the horse at all future starts.

LUV HUNTER – Jockey A Badger reported that after jumping away fairly the horse got its head up and climbed in its action in the early stages of the race.

STAINCROSS – Shortly after the start was tightened for room between runners and lost considerable ground.

RACE 2: BLACKWATER QUARRIES & CONCRETE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1170M

PRIVATE BENJAMIN – Knuckled over badly on jumping away, almost dislodging the rider (J Hoopert) and subsequently lost ground.

BRADBURY’S QUEST – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

RACE 3: TATTERSALL’S RACING CLUB QTIS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1170M

WAR NOISE – Trainer, Ms K Johnston, was interviewed as to the reason why the ID card did not accompany the horse at today’s meeting. Ms Johnston explained that the ID card was taken and sent back to Registrar of Racehorses to have some markings adjusted and had not been returned as yet. Stewards accepted this explanation and would expect the ID card to accompany the horse at its next start.

SHOW A FLICK – Declared a late scratching at 2.24pm by order of the stewards acting on the starter’s advice that it refused to load into the barriers. All moneys invested on SHOW A FLICK were to be refunded and deductions applied as per Racing Queensland Schedule of Deductions, ie. 16 cents win for first, 18 cents place for first, and 18 cents place for second. All SP bets were subject to deductions. Trainer Mr P Hill was advised that the gelding must pass in an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to start again.

Trainer Mr R West was advised the horse must obtain a vet certificate of soundness prior to its next start.

RACE 5: NATIONWIDE CIVIL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1470M

KUTCHER – Began awkwardly and shortly after the start was tightened between SCORPION PRINCESS, which shifted out, and MISS MOOKY CHICK, which shifted in. As all horses were unbalanced stewards could not attribute any blame to any one rider.

CELTIC DRAGON – Shifted in approaching the 900m mark when insufficiently clear of SCORPION PRINCESS, causing it to be slightly checked. Jockey Ms S Eilbeck was reprimanded and reminded of her obligations when shifting ground in future.

RACE 6: NATIONWIDE CIVIL RIVER JUNCTION GYMPIE CUP HANDICAP 1600M

After consultation with the President of the Gympie Turf Club the start of this race was delayed and put back 10 minutes to 4.50 pm to avoid a clash with the running of the Cox Plate.

KEVEJON – Slow into stride and raced wide in the early stages of the race. Near the 850m mark ducked in sharply despite the efforts of jockey A Merritt, causing LEGSMAN to be checked and lose ground.

AASHIQ – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.

THE BLIZZARD – Approaching the home turn commenced losing ground and in doing so shifted in slightly, inconveniencing TALLAHATCHIE, who had improved up onto the heels of THE BLIZZARD and then had to be checked.
