COUNTRY GOSSIP – Jumped awkwardly. Raced very ungenerously in the early stages and became unbalanced. Raced wide from the 500m. Jockey A. Badger reported that in her opinion the filly resented the sand kickback.
Following the running of this race, riders expressed concerns with the condition of the track, especially between the 800m and the 300m. Stewards inspected that section of the track and found that the track surface was uneven at that point. After track staff had worked to repair inconsistencies in the track surface, Stewards conducted a further track inspection and deemed it to be safe.

Race 5: GYMPIE RSL SUB BRANCH DIGGERS CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1470M
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards became aware that ZINDABLAKE (S. Bayliss) and KUTCHER (A. Merritt) had started from incorrect barriers. After taking evidence from both riders, trainers D. Gardiner and T. White, and starter G. Honeywell, stewards were satisfied that this had not affected the finishing position of either runner and correct weight was declared on the judge's placings. Subsequently S. Bayliss and A. Merritt were each fined $100 under AR175(k) for negligence which led to a breach of AR128(1).
TALLAHATCHIE – Raced wide throughout.
