RACE 1 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 4 STARTERS
At the start. GOLDEN REGAL (M Young) and SHAWNO (G Cullen,) on jumping away came together. Near the 500 mark LOGGER BOY (GD Kliese) shifted of the fence and brushed SHAUNO (G Cullen)
Trainer E Covell was questioned regarding the late scratching of JUNJA resulting in a fine of $50 being imposed under the AR 114c..
RACE 2 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1800 METRES 7 STARTERS
At the start: IRISH REIGN was slow into stride. At about the 600 TOLEDO TWIG eased when hampered for room when BETWEEN THE LINES (L Critoph) shifted in..
RACE 3 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1460 METRES 6 STARTERS
FISHER’S GHOST PAM (M Young) wanted to hang out going to the 1300 metres. Trainer Bradshaw was advised to experiment with a lugging bit on that Gelding.
RACE 4 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1460 METRES 7 STARTERS
A Protest was lodged by S Hetherington the rider of SAVAGE MINX (2ND) against AFRICAN ROSE Ms D Andrews being declared the winner alleging interference at about the 1100 metre mark. After viewing the films and hearing Stewards evidence, the protest was Upheld and judges placings amended.
RACE 5 OPEN HANDICAP 1460 METRES 11 STARTERS
Near the 1100 metre mark, STAGE BEAU (A Molino) had to be eased to avoid the heels of WHAT’S WANTED (D Andrews).
Jockey C Lennon was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount SMOKEY TOUCH to shift in after the winning post, which caused COASTAL IMAGE (R Gallacher) to be hampered. Trainer J Payne was reprimanded for removing COASTAL IMAGE from the mounting yard before correct weight.
RACE 6 CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1180 METRES 8 STARTERS
At the start: NEDEAL (A Molino) dwelt when the gates opened and lost ground. Approaching the 700 MAJESTIC COLOUR (D Sewell) has to be restrained to avoid the heels of BROTHER’S MATE (S Hetherington) who was subsequently reprimanded for allowing his mount to move in when not sufficiently clear. Approaching the 600 metre mark, SPRAY DECK (L Nelson) began to over race and shift out onto the heels of RIVER BRIAR (G Cullen). At the 200 metre mark MAJESTIC COLOUR (D Sewell) had to be eased to avoid the heels of NEDEAL (A Molino). Over the concluding stages of the race, MAJESTIC COLOUR had a tendency to lay in which denied the rider, D Sewell the opportunity of riding his mount out.
RACE 7 SUPER QRIS 3YO MAIDEN H/CAP 1000 METRES 12 STARTERS
At the start: OUR RAINMAKER (L Nelson) jumped out onto LUSOMA (C Lennon), CHOSEN CALIBRE (GD Kliese) jumped outwards and collided with MICHAEL MOUSE (Ms D Andrews) who in turn brushed DOLLAR ROSE.(R Gallacher) LADY’S TOUCH (M Young) wanted to hang out from the 650, MICHAEL MOUSE raced greenly from the 600, hanging out on the home turn.
RACE 8 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 10 STARTERS
At the start: MISS WITTEN (S Hetherington) was difficult to load. When the gates opened FUNNY ABOUT LOVE jumped out and collided with SHIVA’S TRIDENT, GOLD WHIZ jumped inwards and collided with MISS WITTEN. Soon after the start, HOME HILL shifted in and collided with SHIVA’S TRIDENT. Jockey C Lennon reported that the saddle on GOLD WHIZ shifted back during the race.
All winners were sent to be swabbed.
