Race 1: MAIDEN HANDICAP 900 metres.
1st – Mainshift 2nd – Buckanara 3rd – Willie Clang 4th - Little Elliott
Willie Clang (App E Ljung) and Monet Miss (T. Bannon) both raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
Buckanara (P Cullen) hung in over the final 150 meters and with 50 metres remaining Jockey P Cullen had to stop riding and straighten Buckanara.
Race 2: CLASS 3 PLATE 900 metres .
1st – Sunsets of Fire 2nd – Dangar Diva 3rd – Brochette 4th - Lionhearted Boy
Approaching the 650 metres Sunsets on Fire (M. Elliott) had to be momentarily steadied when racing between Cabja Kid (D. Andrews) and Dangar Diva (A. Dykes) both of which shifted ground.
The semaphoring of “Correct Weight” was delayed when Jockey D. Andrews and Trainer M Preston (Cabja Kid) placed fifth by the Judge requested to view the official photo finish print for 3rd. After viewing the photo finish print both were satisfied that the Judges places as semaphored were correct and “Correct Weight” was notified.
Race 3: CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 metres .
1st – Ardengo 2nd – Likeadylan 3rd – Molongle Dash 4th - Pachamama
Zatsacat was late scratching at 9.15 a.m. due to no suitable rider being available.
Craiglea Pixie (M Cullen) was very slow to begin. Craiglea Pixie failed to stretch out and race keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Jockey M Cullen and Trainer B Williams were questioned in relation to the performance of Craiglea Pixie. Jockey M Cullen advised that the horse was fractious in the barriers and failed to stretch out after jumping slowly. Trainer B Williams stated that he was at loss to explain the disappointing performance of Craiglea Pixie and stated that the gelding had never raced in this manner before. Craiglea Pixie was sent to be examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon who reported that no injury or abnormalities were detected. Trainer B Williams was advised not to start Craiglea Pixie until satisfied that the gelding would perform in the desired manner.
It was noted that Wiseguy (A Lawrence), Ode to Me (S. Wilson), Molongle Dash (E Ljung) and Likedylan (M Elliott) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Pachamama (G Kliese) hung out when under pressure over the final 150 metres and Jockey G Kliese had to stop riding and straighten the mare on two occasions
Race 4: BM70 HANDICAP 1180 metres .
1st – People’s Choice 2nd – Why Not Me 3rd – Gallant Hawk 4th – John’s Special
Approaching the 250 metres Gallant Hawk (A Dykes) blundered momentarily.
Apprentice E Ljung (Why Not Now) was questioned after returning to scale 0.52 kilograms in excessive of her claimed weight at scale. Apprentice Ljung advised that after weighing out she had consumed water and also stated that due to humidity Why Not Now had sweated up and this had weighed down her gear. Apprentice Ljung was advised of her obligations in relation to AR 145.
Race 5: CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400 metres .
1st – Kerchings 2nd – Blast Out Of Here 3rd – Zahas Pride 4th – Supa Mega Deadly
Supa Mega Deadly (T Bannon) raced ungenerously approaching the crossing at the 1300 meters and got its head up in the air. Knute (J Felix) raced wide throughout the vent.
