As Apprentice R Cox was not riding at the meeting, Stewards declared scratchings and rider alterations as per Stewards Summary. Stewards will inquire into this matter at a later time and date.
Race 1: George Bourne & Associates QTIS Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
1st – DEEKAYEL 2nd – FLIRTING DRAGON 3rd – HONEY BLONDE 4th- SWEENEY
BROWN PAPER BEAR was a late scratching at 10.57am and PIPPA’S CALL at 12.40pm when no riders were available.
Due to a miscommunication, R Hancock was declared as the rider for PIPPA’S CALL. Following the elimination of FALSZAK, Jockey Hancock was the rider for JOLLY GOOD OPTION.
DON’T TELL JOAN (S Egan) jumped in and lost ground.
The barrier gates of HONEY BLONDE (T. Banks), FLIRTING DRAGON (R. Mules) and SWEENEY (D. Rewald) were slow to open with the remainder. As a result, FLIRTING DRAGON and SWEENEY were slow to begin.
The starter was advised and re-tested the barriers following the event with no further issues observed.
SWEENEY raced wide throughout.
DEEKAYEL (R Sue-san) laid in near the 100 metres.
Race 2: Barcaldine Cleaning Services/ Central West Rural Class B Handicap- 1000 metres
1st – FORCED SALUTE 2nd – SPECK OF GOLD 3rd – HUGHIE AND ME 4th – RHYTHM NATION
At the request of Stewards, SPECK OF GOLD underwent an inspection on arrival at the barriers and was passed to take its place in the field.
SPECK OF GOLD (R. Mules) jumped inwards and made contact with RHYTHM NATION (T. Banks).
SPECK OF GOLD raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 3: Bailey Civil Contracting Class 6 Plate- 1200 metres
1st –CRYSTAL MATES 2nd –MAYOR OF CLONMEL 3rd – DOMINANT PLAY 4th – FOUR JOY
DOMINANT PLAY (R Sue-san) began awkwardly.
CRYSTAL MATES (T Banks) jumped out onto RYDANIC MISS (R Mules)
Race 4: Bentley’s Queensland/ Pro Tyres BM 60 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st –VERT CADEAU 2nd – TRANSPIRE 3rd – LEICAZUPA 4th – BLAKTAR
TRAVIS (12.40pm and KEV’S DESTINY (2.45pm) were declared late scratchings due to no available riders.
CRAIGLEA RAWIE (R Hancock) and VERT CADEAU (R Sue-san) made contact on jumping.
ANGEL OF MERCY (D Rewald) jumped in onto TRANSPIRE (S. Egan).
Near the 800 metres, BLAKTAR (T. Banks) laid in.
Jockey S Egan reported TRANSPIRE was inclined to hang out around the 200m turn.
Race 5: Ray White Longreach Willowie Cup Open Handicap- 1400 metres
1st –SECRETS 2nd – REIGNING TO WIN 3rd – LIGHT WARRIOR 4th – DUAL ECHELON
A DEPENDANT (12.40pm) and HELLUVA HARRY (2.45pm) were declared late scratchings due to no available riders.
LUCASAM (R Sue-san) began awkwardly and lost some ground.
LIGHT WARRIOR (R Mules) pulled hard in the early stages.
JOE BLOW (D Rewald) over-raced in the early stages.
