RAIL IN TRUE POSITION

GENERAL REPORT:
As apprentice L.Attard was indisposed for today’s meeting, Stewards permitted the following replacements:
Race 1 METRICAL MILLIE App K.Penrose
Race 3 OVER THE LINE W.Cullen
Race 4 CAPE ROCKET K.Penrose
Race 5 LILY’S CONFOY A.Molino

Due to the inclement weather conditions, Races 2,3,4,5 were all bought forward.

RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE – 1400 Metres – 8 Starters
Upon returning to the enclosure it was established that METRICAL MILLIE (App K.Penrose) had bled from both nostrils, this was confirmed by the club’s Veterinary Surgeon and the horse was deemed to be a bleeder as per the terms of Ar53A. As this was the horses first episode of Bleeding, the horse is now barred from racing for a period of THREE calendar months. Trainer Mr E.Covell was advised of the embargo placed upon the horse.
As the start was affected FLEET AFFAIR (G.Kliese) was slow into stride.
Jockey F.Edwards was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under the terms of Ar137(a) in that approaching the 200mtr mark he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of EBONY FOX (P.Cullen) resulting in that horse being taken inwards across the heels of SEAVIEW LASS (M.Elliott) and having to be checked. Jockey Edwards was subsequently suspended from riding in races from midnight 4th September 2004 up to and including the 10th September 2004 being a period covered by 2 NQ race meetings. In accessing the matter of penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Edwards’ good record.

RACE 2: OPEN HANDICAP – 1400 Metres – 7 Starters
STORMY BLUE (A.Cox) jumped away very awkwardly as the gates opened.
PUGAD LAWIN (P.Cullen) was slow into stride.
CAUTIOUS SPIRIT (J.Stopps) was unable to secure clear running over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 3: OPEN HANDICAP - 1400 Metres - 7 Starters
Jockey J.Stopps the rider of I’M REAGAL was admonished by the Stewards for permitting his mount to shift inwards from the 200mtr mark and inconvenience the running of COUNTRY ROADS (D.Crossland).

RACE 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 Metres - 9 Starters
MOLLYBEGOOD (J.Stopps) jumped inwards as the gates opened, and hampered SAFE LANDING (W.Cullen).
Jockey P.Cullen reported that his mount hung out from the 500mtr mark until the home turn.

RACE 5: CLASS 4 PLATE - 1900 Metres - 10 Starters
DOODLE DADDLE (D.Crossland) was inclined to buck spproximately 50mtrs after the start of the event.
At approximately the 1000mtr mark the pace slacken, which resulted in A THOUSAND DEGREES (L.Nelson) over racing and shifting inwards, taking RECEIVING STATION (F.Edwards) in onto DOODLE DADDLE (D.Crossland), which resulted in LILY’S CONFOY (A.Molino) making contact with the running rail and losing its position in the event.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
