Trainer J. Russell was fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR118A for altering the gear on third placegetter PRIVE without the permission of the stewards. As a consequence Jockey P. Cullen returned to scale in excess of the half kilogram allowed under AR 145.

Race 1: Hinchinbrook Shire Council QTIS Maiden Plate – 1000 metres:
1st – PUFFIN 2nd – DANCE DUCEY DANCE 3rd – MONSOON MIST 4th - HOYO

Jockey M. Elliott, the rider of QUICK EMBRACE, reported that his saddle shifted backwards leaving the 600m placing him at a disadvantage.

MUSICAL MOMENTS (P. Cullen) and PUFFIN (F. Edwards) both lost ground at the start when tightened for room between HOYO (D. Simmons) and DANCE DUCEY DANCE (S. Kaya) both of which shifted ground.

Near the 900m HOYO had to be steadied from the heels of PUFFIN and lost ground as a result of both PUFFIN laying in and HOYO laying out at that point of the race. Upon returning to scale Jockey Edwards reported that PUFFIN raced greenly throughout the event. Trainer J. Russell was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of PUFFIN.

Near the 800m PUFFIN over-raced for a short distance when being steadied from the heels of DANCE DUCEY DANCE.

Race 2: Halgenaes Red Brahman Stud/Cavallaro Leonardi & Associates Open Handicap – 1000 metres:
1st – HERESAY 2nd – HIGHONRUM 3rd – LUCIPALITY 4th – ALTERNATE

ALTERNATE (J. Felix) was slow to begin

Race 3: Brown Brothers & Bundaberg Rum Class 5 Handicap – 1000 metres:

PRONOUNCE (J. Stopps) and WESTERN CHAT (D. Simmons) were both a little slow to begin.

Rounding the home turn PRONOUNCE became unbalanced and shifted out making heavy contact with HURRICANEPRINCE (J. Babarovich). Jockey Babarovich reported that HURRICANEPRINCE failed to respond to his riding after receiving the heavy contact and expressed his disappointment in the gelding’s performance.

Race 4: John White Crash Repairs / Parry Nissan / Hinchinbrook Towing Class 2 Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – NIKKI BEACH 2nd – KONINIGAN STAR 3rd – IL GABBIANO 4th – GOLD SOVEREIGN

KONINGAN STAR (S. Morris) began awkwardly.
