INNISFAIL TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY18/10/03

STEWARDS PANEL: B GRAY (Chairman) G GOVAN, J LO MONACO

WEATHER – FINE TRACK:-GOOD RAIL –TRUE


RACE 1: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 900 Metres

JEEPERS was slow into galloping action and then cast a front plate at the 400 metres.

RACE 2: QTIS 3 & 4 YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 Metres

UNKA MAGIC was slow into galloping action and then raced uncompetitively through out. Trainer Veronique Poetzscher was advised that the mare must trial before starting again. ZIPPY DAN and OVER THE LINE came together just prior to the 400 metre turn. Jockeys GD Kliese (DOODLE DADDLE) and E Kowald (NEW ACCOUNT) reported that their mounts raced erratically.

RACE 3: CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200 Metres

KNOCKBACK (A Merritt) moved in onto the running rail at the 900 metres when insufficiently clear of GENTILLIC BELLE (A Ryan), resulting in that horse having to be checked and lose ground. Jockey A Merritt was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR 137a and suspended from race riding for a period of 3 NQ meetings to commence at midnight 21/10/03 and expire at midnight 30/10/03. KNOCKBACK (A Merritt) then moved in again at the 200 metres onto GRAIGEE AGAIN (I Toward) causing that horse to be checked severely and lose momentum. Jockey A Merritt was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR 137a and suspended for 3 NQ meetings, to be served concurrently with his earlier suspension.

RACE 4: JOHNSTON RIVER OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

KNIGHT TIME (A Molino) had to be eased off the heels of SECRET PRINCE at the 600 metres.

RACE 5: CLASS 6 PLATE – 1500 Metres

Jockey A Molino (MONAGHEE) became unbalanced as the field left the starting stalls. JUST A LAD (D Crossland) was over racing during the middle stages of the race, before forcing a passage to the inside of BARRON LAD at the 250 metres. VEELA (K Mahoney) was disappointed for a run over the concluding stages of the race.

RACE 6: INNISFAIL CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 2000 Metres

MR MARUMO was a late scratching at 10:55a.m.
