Race 1: Johnstone Printery Maiden Plate- 900m
1st – HEY MILLIE 2nd – SPECIAL WOMAN 3rd - WHATAWOW 4th – QUARRYMAN

POINT O’FIVE was declared a late scratching at 1.05pm due to the transfer of ownership not been enacted. As betting had not commenced, no deductions were required.

Jockey D. Crossland was replaced by Jockey I. Toward on QUARRYMAN as he failed to arrive on course. An inquiry into Jockey Crossland’s failure to arrive on course will be held at a time and date to be fixed.

TROUB (G. Kliese) jumped in onto SIR RASH (J. Stopps). SPECIAL WOMAN (S. Kaya) jumped in onto QUARRYMAN (I. Toward), who caused further inconvenience to TROUB.

CHEDDITE (S. Morris) raced greenly in the early stages of the straight.

Jockey J. Stopps (SIR RASH) pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip ARR 137(A) and was fined $100.


Race 2: Jackson & Jackson Class 4 Handicap- 900m
1st - DANZANO 2nd – CLERIC 3rd – POWER LINES 4th – SILENT REALM

Stewards enquired in the reasons for PEAKHURST being declared a late scratching at 7.49am. Trainer N. Schofield was directed to supply a veterinary certificate within 48 hours for PEAKHURST.

YOUNG TYCOON (G. Kliese) was slow away and hung out rounding the home turn.
BEN’S HERITAGE (S. Kaya) hung out rounding the home turn.
SHE WILL ROCK YOU (M. Dale) laid in over the concluding stages, placing the rider at a disadvantage in riding the mare out.

POWER LINES (J. Felix) was held up for clear running over the final 50m.

Jockey G. Lemos reported CLERIC was inclined to lay in on a number of occasions throughout the event.

Race 3: Innisfail Plumbing and Paint Weight for Age- 1100m
1st - LUCIPALITY 2nd – GAELIC LAD 3rd – LOST PRINCE 4th – KARAMAZOU

Jockey D. Crossland was replaced by Jockey I. Toward on HOTELIER as he failed to arrive on course.

As the start was effected, HOTELIER (I. Toward) knuckled over badly and dislodged the rider. Jockey I. Toward did not seek medical attention.

Race 4: Micale Cabinets Class B Handicap- 1200m
1st – LIGHTNING MCQUEEN 2nd - MIRACLE BAZ 3rd – WHAT’S YOUR ANGLE 4th – GAYLORD

HANURABI was declared a late scratching at 2.25pm as no rider was available. No betting deductions required.

Jockey K. Rockett was given permission by Stewards to ride OUR MODEL 1 kilogram overweight, due to no other rider being able to ride at or closer to the allotted weight.

Prior to the start being effected, LIGHTNING MCQUEEN broke through and was quickly restrained by its rider and took its place in the field.

STARTUS (S. Kaya) jumped in onto FERRO (M. Dale).

At approximately the 800m, OUR RARE GEM (J. Felix) was eased when inclined to overrace in restricted racing room between WHAT’S YOUR ANGLE (J. Long) and LIGHTNING MCQUEEN (I. Toward). STARTUS (S. Kaya) who was following also had to be steadied.

MASTER TRADER (J. Stopps) was eased from the heels of ZIVADOR (App. T Fujinuma) on the home turn, when ZIVADOR shifted in slightly.

COUNTY WILKES (I. Fry) was held up for clear running over the final 50m.

Jockey G. Kliese reported that KEEN ON YOU was inclined to lay in under pressure, brushing the inside running rail on a number of occasions in the straight and Jockey Kliese had difficulty in riding his mount out.

Trainer J Ball reported that GAYLORD had lost its near side front shoe in running and quartered its heel.




Race 5: Fitzgerald Cup Class 5 Handicap- 1500m
1st – GENERAL LEDGER 2nd - WESTBROOK LAD 3rd – HOBSON’S CHOICE 4th – ROYAL COLOURS

As Jockey G. Kliese was to be overweight, S.Kaya was the replacement rider for SHE MAKES ME BUSY. Stewards accepted Jockey G. Kliese’s reasons for being overweight on this occasion and gave consideration that it was notified prior to the commencement of the meeting.

As the start was effected, COSTO ROMOLO (I. Fry) laid back on the rear gate of the barrier and jumped in the air, losing considerable ground.

WESTBROOK LAD (P. Cullen) was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

Jockey M. Dale (HOBSON’S CHOICE) reported he had sustained an injury making contact with the barriers and required medical attention to his left ankle.
