KAAPTIVE EIGHT (P. Cullen) was slow to begin.
Near the 800m, LIKE A GOD (S. Morris) had to be checked when tightened for room between CANADANE (G. Kliese) and STARS AND SOCKS (K. Rockett) which was racing greenly and abruptly shifted in and away from PUFFIN (F. Edwards). As Stewards could not attribute blame to any rider no action was taken.
Rounding the home turn, PUFFIN (F. Edwards) had to be steadied and alter course when taken wider by STARS AND SOCKS (K. Rockett). K. Rockett was reprimanded.
GOALATTACK (M. Atkinson) and SPLINTERSHISNAME (M. Dale) both raced wide throughout the event.

Shortly after the start, FLASH BANG (K. Rockett) was tightened for room between OUR RARE GEM (S. Kaya) and ZIAMIAM (J. Felix) which shifted in.

When questioned regarding the performance of ASIAN THUNDER, G. A post race veterinary examination of ASIAN THUNDER failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
When questioned regarding the performance of CYCLONE LARRY, M. Dale stated that the gelding travelled well throughout the event but when eased to the outside of runners and placed under pressure in the straight CYCLONE LARRY commenced to hang in resulting in him being unable to fully test the gelding. A post race veterinary examination of CYCLONE LARRY revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg and to be sore in the off fore knee. Trainer K. Potamianakis was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to CYCLONE LARRY racing again.

Prior to the announcement of correct weight P. Cullen the rider of HYPATICA made an application to be declared a non runner on the grounds of being denied a fair start. After taken evidence from P. Cullen and viewing the official patrol films, Stewards were of the opinion that as the gates opened HYPATICA put its head down and as a result missed the start. As Stewards were of the opinion that HYPATICA had been given full opportunity to jump withe the field, and therefore declared HYPATICA a runner and correct weight was declared.
Near the winning post, HAMATYM (I. Toward) shifted out making contact with PRIME BELL (S. Kaya).
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
