Trainers B. Condon and T. Rowe were interviewed as to the scratching of CROSS MEDIA and PICATUREN respectively. Mr Condon explained that CROSS MEDIA became extremely fractious when being loaded on to the float for transportation to the race meeting. As the gelding became fractious it made heavy contact with the roof of the float with its head. Due to the state CROSS MEDIA had worked itself into Mr Condon held concerns for his other runners if forced to travel in the confines of the float with CROSS MEDIA and for the welfare of CROSS MEDIA and as such elected to scratch the gelding. Acting on the advice of Mr Condon CROSS MEDIA was declared a late scratching prior to the first race. Mr Rowe explained that on Thursday morning, the morning of acceptances, PICATUREN had failed to finish its feed. As such he took some blood samples for testing, the results of which were only furnished to him after 12:00pm that same day. Mr Rowe advised that as soon as he received the results of the blood tests he elected to scratch PICATUREN. Mr Rowe has since forwarded the blood test results to Stewards for confirmation. The explanations of both Mr Condon and Mr Rowe were accepted by Stewards.
Jockey J Stopps [NO WONDER] and Jockey K Rockett [RED FOR GO] were both reprimanded for failing to ride their horses out to the line.
