SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT:
As Jockey M. Elliott experienced transport difficulties and was unable to attend the meeting, rider changes were made as per the Stewards summary.
Race 1:JACKSON & JACKSON CLASS 1 H’CAP– 900 metres
1st –Kings Road 2nd-Showrun 3rd –Ratstan 4th –Zatsacat
ZATSACAT was fractious after leaving the mounting yard dislodging Jockey Dykes on two occasions.
MANZANITA (S Pawsey) was slow to begin.
FOB DUBAI (B Swaffer) was slow into stride.
Race 2:COLS VINYL & CANVAS OPEN H’CAP– 900 metres
1st –Sunsets On Fire 2nd –Steig 3rd–Canyon Road 4th–Bolt From The Blue
BOLT FROM THE BLUE (I Toward) was slow into stride.
Apprentice J Kuskopf advised Stewards that the saddle on SUNSETS ON FIRE shifted to the off side shortly after turning for home placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Apprentice Kuskopf further advised that on pulling up the saddle shifted further to the off side and as a result she was dislodged suffering a harmless fall.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of JOHN’S SPECIAL apprentice E Ljung advised Stewards that the gelding failed to muster its customary gate speed and didn’t travel comfortably for the majority of the event. App. Ljung further added that when placed under pressure from the 400m, JOHN’S SPECIAL ran on only fairly and proved disappointing. Trainer O Cairns agreed with the comments of App Ljung and further advised that she will recommend to the connections of JOHN’S SPECIAL that the gelding be sent for a spell. A post-race Veterinary Inspection of JOHN’S SPECIAL revealed the gelding to be suffering from the thumps and also to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer O Cairns was advised that she will be required to obtain a Veterinary Clearance for JOHN’S SPECIAL prior to the in next racing.
Race 3:RACING QUEENSLAND MAIDEN PLATE– 1200 metres
1st –Greenmount 2nd –Red Tutu 3rd –Buckanara 4th –Willie Clang
STRITIQUE (G Kliese) was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary Advise at 2:34pm after the gelding was found to be lame near hind. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on STRITIQUE be refunded with the following deductions to apply.
1st- Greenmount. Less 11cents in the dollar for the win and 10 cents in dollar for the place.
2nd- Red Tutu. Less 10cents in the dollar for the place.
3rd- Buckanana. Less 10cents in the dollar for the place.
IMA TRICKSTER (W D’Avila) was tightened for room at the start and lost ground when between MORE THAN CHARLIE (S Wilson) RED TUTU (I Toward) which jumped in.
IMA TRICKSTER hung in for the majority of the event.
WILLIE CLANG (J Felix) and BUCKANARA (P Cullen) made contact over the concluding stages when both horse shifted ground marginally.
Race 4:CCRC CLASS 3 PLATE– 1200 metres
1st –Great Impressions 2nd –Diamond Bill 3rd –Tuppeny’s Opinion 4th–Here To Dash
DIAMOND BILL (I Toward) was slow to begin.
ALEXANDER PARADE (B Swaffer) began awkwardly.
DIAMOND BILL was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
Following the disappointing performance of ALEXANDER PARADE (B Swaffer) trainer T Rowe advised Stewards that the gelding will be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race Veterinary Inspection of ALEXANDER PARADE failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 5: DESIREE GILL MEMORIAL CLASS B H’CAP – 1500 metres
1st – Regency Royale 2nd –Ernest Albert 3rd –Star Truce 4th –Oakfield Hero
