LATE RIDING CHANGES:
When Jockey K. Rockett the rider of NINETYNINE PERCENT had transport difficulties. Stewards ordered the late scratching of NINETYNINE PERCENT at 11:45am as there was no other suitable rider available.
Race 1: Racing Queensland QTIS Class 1 Handicap – 900 metres:
1st – DANE WILL DO 2nd – DREAM ON DREAMER 3rd – SPECIAL TALE 4th – WOOLGAR ROAD
As apprentice J. Kuskopf was declared on the first emergency WOOLGAR ROAD and this horse obtained a start jockey J. Dickinson was the replacement rider for DREAM ON DREAMER when no other apprentice was available.
SPECIAL TAIL (G. Kliese) and WISHFUL (App S. Wiseman) made contact on jumping away.
DRAGON ACE (F. Edwards) failed to muster any early speed.
DANE WILL DO (G. Watson) had a tendency to lay in under pressure throughout the home straight.
DRAGON ACE (F. Edwards) shifted out abruptly near the 100 metres.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of AQUALITA, jockey S. Pawsey stated that the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions. Stewards noted jockey Pawsey’s comments.
On returning to scale jockey Edwards the rider of DRAGON ACE advised stewards that the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions.
Race 2: Feast Of Senses Class 4 Handicap – 900 metres:
1st – MAECENUS 2nd – EREBUS 3rd – LOVE THAT DRAGON 4th – ARCANUS
LOVE THAT DRAGON (App J. Kuskopf) had a tendency to lay out over the final 50 metres.
On returning to scale jockey G. Kliese the rider of FAST ‘N’ SHARP reported that the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions.
Race 3: Northern Pride Class B Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – HAILING 2nd – STANDFORD 3rd – HAD A DREAM 4th – OVERANGA
STANDFORD (App B. Swaffer) was slow into stride.
At the start OVERANGA (J. Dickinson) jumped outwards and made contact with SMART STUFF (App J. Kuskopf).
Race 4: Brothers League Club Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1200 metres:
1st – THIRTY THREE LARGE 2nd – BEURRE 3rd – MASTER DANNY 4th – SIZZELON
NATE (G. Kliese) was slow to begin.
SIZZLELON (App J. Kuskopf) and MASTER DANNY (F. Edwards) made contact on jumping away.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of SIZZLELON which raced below market expectations, apprentice J. Kuskopf stated that SIZZLELON did not handle the heavy track conditions. Apprentice Kuskopf also stated that the handicapped weight of 60 kilograms may have also had a bearing on to days disappointing performance. Stewards noted Apprentice Kuskopf’s comments.
Race 5: Innisfail Turf Club Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1500 metres
1st – PEMBERTON 2nd – STAR SPRAY 3rd – CYCLONE LARRY 4th – AWESOME HORSESOM
AWESOME HORSESOM (W. D’Avila) was slow into stride.
PEMBERTON (G. Kliese) had a tendency to lay out under pressure throughout the home straight, and carried STAR SPRAY (App S. Wiseman) wider on the track.
