IPSWICH TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT THURS.16.3.00

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 3M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1: WARWICK RSL RICHARD THEW H'CAP - 1000M.

As no other rider was available to take the mount on MONEY PAGE, B. Stewart was given permission to ride the gelding 1 kg overweight. B. Stewart was fined the sum of $400.

POINT was slow to begin.

On the home turn, FOYSTAN FLASH clipped the heels of MONEY PAGE, which commenced to lose ground. POINT, which was following, was obliged to shift out abruptly to avoid FOYSTAN FLASH.

Approaching the finish line, STUMPY JESTER was slightly inconvenienced by BOSIE GAL, which shifted in under presure.

When questioned, G. Colless stated after being quite fractious in the barriers, DEEP TEMPEST was slow to begin. He further stated that DEEP TEMPEST, which was having its first start for nearly 2 years, did not travel at all well during the event and indeed he had some concern with the horse's action. A veterinary examination of DEEP TEMPEST following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 2: WARWICK RSL BRAD CUMMINS H'CAP - 1000M.

At the 700m., JUDE'S GLIMMER fell, dislodging its rider, M. Pelling. SPECTACULAR PRIDE, which was following, was unable to avoid the fallen JUDE'S GLIMMER, which resulted in K. Pope being dislodged from that horse. RAW COURAGE, NEUTRAL SKY, NINA BALLERINA, POSTILI and MOUNTAIN SONG all struck severe interference as a result of the fall. After taking preliminary evidence from G. Duffy (RAW COURAGE), M. Cahill (NEUTRAL SKY), C. Reith (POSTILI), T. Pattillo (CROWN MAID), D. Walsh (NINA BALLERINA), N. Day (LUSKIN LEIGH) and G. Colless (MOUNTAIN SONG), the inquiry was adjourned so that M. Pelling and K. Pope will be able to give evidence. The club's veterinary surgeon reported that JUDE'S GLIMMER had sustained facial injuries as a result of the fall, and that POSTILI had aggravated an old scar to the off hind leg. As both riders were unable to fulfil further engagements, the following substitutions were permitted: Race 3. CERRUTI - D. Walsh; Race 4. AMON RA - D. Walsh; Race 5. KISS IT BETTER - G. Duffy; Race 6. SUNSET CROWN - J. Taylor; RUAKIWI GLOW - D. Craven; Race 7. RAZZA - S. Katsidis.



RACE 3: WARWICK RSL JANE ROSER H'CAP - 1350M.

GOLDEN VISTA was forced very wide on the home turn.



RACE 4: WARWICK RSL RAY TEGG H'CAP - 1100M.

Trainer P. Moody was fined $50 for failing to effect a transfer of ownership for RESPECT THE FLUSH.

Trainer N. Stewart was reprimanded for failing to seek permission to use heart bar plates on KING KOVU.

SEEN AT SEA and RESPECT THE FLUSH bumped soon after jumping.

After being disappointed for a run between SEEN AT SEA and SEACO at the entrance to the straight, BULL POWER then had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 100m.


RACE 5: WARWICK RSL BOB MARSH H'CAP - 1100M.

The start was delayed when BON JACABITE proved difficult to load. Stable representative Mr G. Miller was advised that a warning was being placed on the mare.

BON JACABITE jumped outwards at the start, resulting in AUTUMNWOOD and FIREWORKS being hampered.

BON JACABITE was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

Rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight, FORMATIVE was held up and unable to improve.

Over the concluding stages, MISS D'VINA was inconvenienced by PRINCESS RAINE, which was inclined to shift in under pressure.


RACE 6: WARWICK RSL RHONDA BETTS H'CAP - 800M.

RUAKIWI GLOW shifted out at the start, inconveniencing FINAL EXIT.

Approaching the 600m., LOUNGE SUITE had to be steadied when cramped for room between BELLA ANGEL and SUNSET CROWN.

EASTER LIGHT became unbalanced and lost ground at the 350m. after receiving contact from RUAKIWI GLOW.

NAKED EYE was unable to obtain clear running at any stage of the straight.

RACE 7: WARWICK RSL JACK APPS H'CAP - 1666M.

PASS ME NEVER, which sustained an injury to the near stifle region when kick by another runner whilst proceeding to the barriers, was subsequently withdrawn at 3.59 acting on the advice of the club's veterinary surgeon. Subsequent to the event, stewards ordered all monies invested on PASS ME NEVER be refunded, with deductions of 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of successful win and place bets placed prior to the withdrawal time.
RACE 8: WARWICK RSL GARRY SCHWENKE H'CAP - 1500M.


A veterinary examination of CALLING, which performed disappointingly, revealed that mare to be suffering from respiratory distress. Apprentice S. Nolen was unable to provide any explanation for CALLING'S performance.




ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
