FROM BTC MEETING, 26.8.00

Trainer R. McCall reported that BLUE POET had sustained injuries to both eyes after competing in race 8 at the above meeting.

RACE 1: GALLIPOLI H'CAP - 1350M.

PHILIBE jumped outwards at the start and made contact with DASHING HERB.

PINNACE raced greenly in the early stages.

After being briefly tightened by PATRICIA CATHERINE prior to the home turn, PHILIBE overreacted and shifted out across the heels of that filly, forcing IANITIS and PINNACE wider on the track. DASHING HERB, which was following, was also inconvenienced in this incident.

When questioned, K. Bell stated he had previously ridden PHILIBE at the Gold Coast where the filly had performed well, however today she did not race up to his expectations and proved very disappointing.

RACE 2: VILLIERS BRETTONEUX H'CAP - 1200M.

Leaving the 900m., CARDIGAN jumped a bare section of the track and became unbalanced.

S. Seamer reported that his whip became entangled in the mane of CARDIGAN for a short distance leaving the 200m. when he endeavoured to pull the whip through from his left hand to his right hand.

A veterinary examination of ETRE ACCORDE, which raced disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 3: KOKODA TRAIL H'CAP - 1000M.

SIKASKA jumped awkwardly and brushed the starting gate.

EUSTON QUEEN also jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with CAN HOPE.

Approaching the home turn, AUTUMNWOOD was momentarily steadied off the heels of RAZZAAM.

Over the concluding stages, ADJUSTED shifted in under pressure and brushed COMPOSITA.

RACE 4: TORBRUK H'CAP - 1000M.

RAPID EXPRESS shifted in at the start, inconveniencing DICEY LADY.

ATALANTA LASS began awkwardly.

After travelling 100m., SAYANG shifted out and brushed RAPID EXPRESS. SAYANG then commenced to buck and continued to do so for some distance and was retired from the event. SUPHENA and DICEY LADY were both hampered as a result of SAYANG shifting ground in front of them. Trainer T. Whittington's representative Mr M. Simms, was advised that SAYANG would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

Near the 600m., SWEET CRYSTAL shifted in and away from the heels of MANDA PANDA, and in doing so tightened the running of THE LADY TABATHA.

Approaching the home turn, BUSH DUCHESS shifted in, tightening ATALANTA LASS.

RACE 5: KAMPYONG H'CAP - 1350M.

SULIMANALU was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

D. Tanti, rider of SPRIGHTLY LIGHT, accidentally dropped his whip shortly after entering the straight.

RACE 6: LEGACY CUP - 1500M.

LIVIN' LEICA KING, ESCOBAH and LONDON LASS were slow to begin.

Passing the 1300m., TWISTED had to be steadied when tightened for room by LUNGU (D. Griffin), which shifted in. D. Griffin was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he must be fully clear before shifting ground.

Leaving the 400m., AWESOME EDGE was obliged to shift out abruptly to avoid the heels of ESCOBAH. This forced LIVIN' LEICA KING wider on the track.

LIVIN' LEICA KING was inclined to shift in under pressure in the straight.

Over the concluding stages, MUSICAL TOTE had to be restrained off the heels of PRINCE RATAVA.

When questioned, K. Pope explained that TWISTED was most disappointing and he could offer no excuse for the performance. A veterinary examination of TWISTED failed to reveal any abnormality.

Near the 500m., THE WEIGHT had to be steadied when tightened for room between EL CARGO and TANNER'S TWIST, which shifted in and away from KING CAL.

At the 600m., MAGIC GAME was tightened for room by TAIYO BAY, which shifted in.

MAGIC GAME was again hampered near the 400m. when TAIYO BAY shifted in slightly.

JUST A GOOD TIME was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
