WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - DEAD RAIL - 9M. 1600-1200, 10M REMAINDER
GENERAL: FROM SCTC MEETING, 5.11.00
Trainer P. Duff was fined $50 for nominating WINGS AWAY for the Class 2 H'cap when ineligible.
RACE 1: MARIANNE & NICOLE WOODS H'CAP - 1350M.
As M. Bennett was indisposed, M. Pelling was substituted as the rider of SUSANNE'S MUSIC.
MIDNIGHT CHAPEL, which sustained a minor abrasion to its near shoulder after striking the fence passing the enclosure during its preliminary, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
JODI'S DANCER, which sustained a minor injury in transit to the track, was inspected by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.
ESCOBAH, which was kicked behind the barriers, was also examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
SUSANNE'S MUSIC was slow to begin.
ABDULLA ABSU and KENRICK came together at the start.
CASSIE'S PRINCESS hung out after leaving the 600m., forcing ESCOBAH and SUSANNE'S MUSIC wider on the track making the home turn.
RACE 2: OZZIE PLUMBING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE H'CAP - 1100M.
As G. Colless failed to arrive at the track, B. Compton was substituted as the rider of LADY SALLANCE. G. Colless's explanation was accepted.
Due to transport difficulties, S. Seamer's was unable to fulfil his engagement on STALWART ZEPH and was replaced by C. Whiteley.
As N. Jolly was indisposed, R. Morris was substituted as the rider of LORD GEIGER.
IRISH POWER was slow to begin.
LADY SALLANCE began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with AL CHANEL.
Near the 700m., STALWART ZEPH shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing AQUILO.
Approaching the 200m., LADY SALLANCE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LUSKIN LEIGH, which shifted out slightly.
LORD GEIGER hung out making the home turn, and under pressure in the straight continued to shift ground, resulting in CROFTSIDE PARK being slightly inconvenienced near the 100m..
RACE 3: KAREN GALVIN H'CAP - 1100M.
As A. Pattillo was ill after riding in race 2, A. Parramore was substituted as the rider of DISECTOR.
Trainer B. Costello was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for COUNT RUSH by the prescribed time.
YAHABEEBE shifted out on jumping away, making contact with SILVER THONGS, taking that horse out onto BOBBY CEE.
Shortly after the start after being brushed by BONNY BLADE, DISECTOR shifted in and made heavy contact with DICEY LADY.
Near the 900m., REBEL CHIEF had to be checked when tightened for room by BONNY BLADE, which shifted in and away from COUNT RUSH despite the efforts of M. Pelling, rider of BONNY BLADE. SILVER THONGS, which was following REBEL CHIEF, had to be checked to avoid that gelding's heels, and in turn shifted out, inconveniencing DISECTOR and YAHABEEBE.
After leaving the 500m., BOBBY CEE was buffeted between TOP VALI and BONNY BLADE, which shifted out slightly when tiring, and approaching the 400m., BOBBY CEE again had to be checked when tightened for room between TOP VALI and BONNY BLADE.
Approaching the home turn, REBEL CHIEF had to be checked to avoid the heels of the tiring BONNY BLADE.
RACE 4: SAPAR LANDSCAPE SUPPLIES H'CAP - 1350M.
As J. Byrne was indisposed, D. Craven was substituted as the rider of GRAND ASPECT, M. Pelling as the rider of SUNDIAL (Race 6), G. Colless as the rider of ROCKLEA KING (Race 8).
KING ZOFFANY shifted out at the start, hampering POCKETSFIL.
Apprentice D. Wheeler was questioned regarding the poor performance of HUGE. He stated the gelding traveled well until the 600m. where he endeavoured to improve, however HUGE failed to respond to his riding and hung out slightly making the home turn and proved most disappointing. A swab sample was taken from HUGE.
RACE 5: PATRICIA KATHLEEN RAMAGE H'CAP - 1000M.
TIRRENO was a late scratching at 9 a.m.. A veterinary certificate will be tendered.
Approaching the 400m., BENLANE shifted out, taking TEXAS GAL out on to CELENTO.
G. Colless, reported that BENLANE was inclined to hang out throughout the event.
RACE 6: GALVIN'S LANDSCAPING H'CAP 1000M.
As the gates opened, OUR MICK put its head down and missed the start by a considerable distance. Trainer D. Sutton was advised that the gelding would be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier test prior to its next race start.
Near the 900m., SUNDIAL shifted in and made contact with ESELKAY.
When J. Stanley endeavoured to restrain OUR MICK approaching the 600m., the gelding shifted out abruptly from behind the heels of SUNDIAL, forcing ESELKAY wider on the track.
Near the 500m., MY BLUE FLYER shifted in and brushed the rail, then shifted out, inconveniencing HUSSAR'S HOPE.
OUR MICK shifted out under pressure in the straight.
RACE 7: GUY RICHARDSON H'CAP - 2150M.
MORGAN LE FAY was slow to begin.
For some distance approaching the 400m., MY TUDOR ROSE was held up and unable to improve when racing behind CHIVALRY, and after passing the 400m., MY TUDOR ROSE was checked when tightened for room between MORGAN LE FAY, which shifted in slightly, and CHIVALRY, which shifted out. R. Morris, rider of CHIVALRY, was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he must exercise more care when shifting ground.
CHIVALRY bled during the event. Trainer G. Livermore was advised that as this was the second occasion on which the gelding has bled, CHIVALRY will now incur a life-time bar from racing.
C. Small reported that MY TUDOR ROSE was inclined to hang out from the 800m..
Trainer J. Cater reported that MY TUDOR ROSE had sustained a laceration to its near-side hind leg during the event.
RACE 8: COUNTRY TURF SUPPLIES H'CAP - 1666M.
Close to the finish line, BONSANA had to be steadied when tightened for room by RED SCHOONER, which shifted in.
DIMANCHE DIMANCHE was a late scratching at 8.35 a.m. on veterinary advice.
ALL WINNERS, TIRRENO AND CHIVALRY WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
