IPSWICH TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRI.8.12.00

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 4M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1: ALLIED ORGANIC H'CAP - 1350M.

REMMINGTON BAY reared as the gates opened and lost ground.

Inside the 200m., DREAMS ARE US was held up and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TOP RUN, which shifted out abruptly.

MISTER EDITION was forced to race wide throughout the event.


RACE 2: GREENWATTLE STREET NURSERY H'CAP - 1000M.

SHABAZZ shifted out at the start, resulting in NINA BALLERINA being inconvenienced.

At the entrance to the straight, SURE AND CERTAIN improved between SWEET CHERI PIE and DOLLAR ROSE where there was doubtful room and as a result made contact with the hind quarters of SWEET CHERI PIE, which then shifted in, taking SURE AND CERTAIN in on to DOLLAR ROSE, which had to be checked to avoid the heels of NINA BALLERINA, which had shifted out abruptly and away from the heels of SHABAZZ. N. Tomizawa, rider of SHABAZZ, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

D. Craven, rider of SWEET CHERI PIE, was fined $100 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his declared riding riding weight.


RACE 3: FERNWOOD LANDSCAPE SUPPLIES H'CAP - 1000M.

As L. Hill, the declared rider of BEDAZZLED, had incurred a suspension at Eagle Farm on 6 December, he was replaced on that mare by C. Whiteley.

LENIENCY jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

MALLEE FIRE and STYLISH EYES made heavy contact on jumping away, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

Near the 900m., PRINCESS RAINE had to be steadied off the heels of CHEEKY LOVER, which shifted in slightly.

LENIENCY had to be steadied after leaving the 800m. when tightened for room between STYLISH EYES and CHEEKY LOVER.

PRINCESS RAINE had to be checked near the 400m.. when tightened for room by CHEEKY LOVER, which shifted in and away from LENIENCY. Whilst stewards accepted that CHEEKY LOVER was racing ungenerously, apprentice Tomizawa was advised that he must endeavor to prevent his mount from shifting ground wherever possible.

RACE 4: I & C CARCARY H'CAP - 1000M.

Jockey S. Shield was fined $50 for weighing out without a girth.

OUR MICK, which hit its head in the barriers prior to the start being effected, was inspected by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed to start. Following the event, the club's veterinary surgeon reported that OUR MICK had sustained a small laceration to its nostril and had loosened its lateral incisor tooth..

CROMARTY FIRTH was slow to begin.

VAIN HALO blundered at the start, and PUTT also blundered shortly after the start.

D. Tanti, rider of HIGH JUMP, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 700m., taking RED RECLUSE in on to PUTT, causing PUTT to be checked. D. Tanti was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 12 December, and to expire at midnight, 24 December 2000.



RACE 5: LABRADOR LANDSCAPE SUPPLIES H'CAP - 1350M.

MY PAL AL shifted out at the start, hampering GROWING CONERN.

A. Merritt, rider of MY PAL AL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1000m. when not clear of GROWING CONCERN, which in turn was taken in on to DIMANCHE DIMANCHE, resulting in both horses being hampered and GROWING CONCERN having to surrender its position. A. Merritt was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 8 December, and to expire at midnight, 21 December 2000.

DIMANCHE DIMANCHE bled from both nostrils during the event. Connections were advised that DIMANCHE DIMANCHE would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.


RACE 6: SAPAR LANDSCAPING SUPPLIES H'CAP - 1100M.

Shortly after the start, SKARLOEY shifted in and made contact with BASTEE BERSATU.

DOUBLE KINGDOM was held up and unable to improve from the 500m. until after entering the straight.

The club's veterinary surgeon reported that SNIPPET'S CHARM was lame in the near fore leg following the event.



RACE 7: GALVIN LANDSCAPES H'CAP - 1350M.

Approaching the 1000m., HOT PROMISE and MAGIC WATERS were both tightened for room by BULL POWER, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Leaving the 1000m., MAGICO, which was racing fiercely, had to be steadied off the heels of TOAST A LADY.


RACE 8: THE BARK COMPANY H'CAP - 1666M.

As K. Pope was indisposed, M. Smith-Lester was substituted as the rider of DASVADUNYA.

CERTAIN SOUND was slow to begin.

Passing the 400m., POCKETSFIL had to be restrained off the heels of the tiring SUNHELA.

POCKETSFIL had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the finish line, DRAGONVILLE shifted in under pressure and brushed GOLD SEA.



ALL WINNERS AND DIMANCHE DIMANCHE WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
