Stewards interviewed stable foreman for trainer R Heathcote, Mr Simon Christie, in relation to the riding tactics adopted on IMPERIAL HEART today. Mr Christie stated that he had instructed apprentice Pittman to take up a forward position throughout the race as this is the normal racing pattern of the horse. Apprentice Pittman confirmed the instructions and stated that after jumping away awkwardly and receiving slight interference, IMPERIAL HEART was reluctant to go forward in the early and middle stages and he elected to ride the horse in a rearward position. Apprentice Pittman further stated that when he obtained clear running, the horse did finish well until receiving interference near the 50m. The explanations of both parties were noted.

A short distance later GREAT SCOTT shifted in, resulting in DASVADUNYA having to be steadied.
Jockey L Harris, the rider of MR. ORBIT, reported that after jumping well the gelding was reluctant to go forward in the early and middle stages and in his opinion he believes that the gear change of blinkers off and cross-over nose band on may have affected the horse's performance today.
ALL WINNERS EXCEPT MR. GRASSHOPPER (RACE 8) WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
