WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL -2M. ALL TRACK
GENERAL: As S. Galloway, P. Cuddihy and J. Stanley were indisposed, the following riding replacements were approved:
S. Galloway: Race 1. JUST YAL - S. Katsidis; Race 2. White Raja - S. Katsidis; Race 3. ETRE ACCORDE - G. Duffy.
P. Cuddihy: Race 2. MOSES - K. Bell.
J. Stanley: Race 4. TEMPE TIP - M. Pelling; Race 6. PAVLODAR - S. Katsidis; Race 7. CASTLEREAGH MAGIC - D. Griffin.
RACE 1: VAN DER MEER PLASTERING H'CAP - 1350M.
Trainer C. Shirley was fined $50 for failing to produce the registration papers for SEA SIOUX.
TRULY TRULY FAIR jumped in the air and lost ground at the start.
LA GUARDIA jumped outwards at the start.
ZUKARLA and JUST YAL were both slow to begin.
FACETS began awkwardly.
Near the 800m., JUST YAL, which was inclined to pull hard, had to be checked off the heels of TRULY TRULY FAIR on several occasions.
MANITOBA became unbalanced after leaving the 800m..
SEA SIOUX was held up rounding the home turn, and on straightening had to be checked off the heels of MANITOBA MUSIC in an effort to gain clear running.
RACE 2:COMMON COURTESY PEST CONTROL H'CAP - 1350M.
Trainer A. Nutley was fined $25 for presenting COMIC KING to the saddling paddock without blinkers.
MANABOZHO and JEST GREAT came together on jumping away.
Approaching the 1000m., MANABOZHO and JEST GREAT were momentarily tightened for room when STRONG MEDICINE shifted in. W. J. Cook, rider of STRONG MEDICINE, was advised to exercise care in similar circumstances.
COMIC KING was inclined to overrace after leaving the 1100m..
Approaching the 500m., MANABOZHO made contact with AVOW when attempting a run in restricted room.
At the same stage, MOSES had to be steadied off the heels of STRONG MEDICINE and as a consequence shifted in momentarily tightening COMIC KING.
Nearing the 600m., COTES had to be checked off the heels of PORTLETHEN.
G. Duffy was questioned concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of IDEAL SUCCESS. He explained that after travelling well in the lead in the early stages, when placed under pressure prior to the home turn the horse compounded. A veterinary examination of IDEAL SUCCESS failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.
RACE 3: BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1000M.
MORINGA BLUE was caught wide after the start and raced wide for the majority of the race.
Near the 800m., YOGI'S EDITION became unbalanced and lost ground when racing in restricted room between ALLSORT and DANRULE. In this incident, ALLSORT shifted in and brushed the hind quarters of MY TEMPEST.
RACE 4: BROTHERS CRICKET CLUB H'CAP - 1100M.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by D. Griffin, rider of the 2nd placegetter, SECOVER, against BUCCANETTE being declared the winner, alleging interference approaching the home turn. After viewing the film and considering the evidence and from the stewards' observations, the protest was upheld and the Judge's placings were amended to read No. 12 - SECOVER - 1st; No. 9 - BUCCANETTE - 2nd; No. 1 - IN COBARGO - 3rd. In upholding the protest, stewards were satisfied that the nature of the interference and ground lost by SECOVER exceeded the margin of a half neck between both horses at the finish
W.J. Cook, rider of BUCCANETTE, was found guilty of a charge careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in approaching the home turn, resulting in SECOVER being checked and losing ground and IN CABARGO, which was following, having to be checked.. W.J. Cook was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings. As a consequence of W.J. Cook being suspended at Kilcoy on 4 September also for a period of 8 meetings, stewards ordered that he be suspended for a further period of 8 meetings, to commence at the expiration of the Kilcoy suspension. This suspension will commence at midnight, 19 September and expires at midnight on 1 October 2001.
When SECOVER and IN CABARGO were checked on the home turn, interference was also suffered by TEMPE TIP, CANTRIP and RANCODA.
IN COBARGO and TEMPE TIP were slow to begin.
Near the 800m., CHARVILLA shifted in and brushed RANCODA. Both horses became unbalanced and RANCODA, when racing ungenerously, had to be checked off the heels of SECOVER, which made the turn awkwardly. IN CABARGO which was racing inside RANCODA, was hampered when racing in restricted room and lost ground.
Approaching the 700m., IN CABARGO again had to be steadied off the heels of SECOVER.
GRAN CABALLO hung out making the home turn. Connections were advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily before being permitted to race again. A veterinary examination of GRAN CABALLO revealed that the horse was shin sore in both forelegs.
M. Pelling, rider of TEMPE TIP, accidentally dropped his whip in the straight.
A veterinary examination of IN CABARGO following the race revealed no abnormality.
RACE 5: IPSWICH'S OWN WEEKLY MAGAZINE H'CAP - 1200M.

MISTER I AM, which jumped away awkwardly, lost ground at the start.
ACE RULE shifted out and made contact with TYLER at the start.
CONDUCT was inclined to overrace in the early stages of the race.
RACE 6: BROTHERS SOCIAL GOLD CLUB H'CAP - 1666M.
PLACID REIGN, LIMERICK LAD and LEGAL EXPRESS were slow to jump.
RACE 7: BROTHERS SOCIAL BOWLS CLUB H'CAP - 1350M.
IMPOSITION shifted out at the start and made contact with ALIANA JOY.
DEAD CAT BOUNCE was badly held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
After passing the 200m., IMPOSITION shifted closer to the rails, which resulted in G. Geran, rider of SEA MIRAGE, having to stop riding momentarily.
DEAD CAT BOUNCE had to be checked approaching the finishing line when attempting a run in restricted room between AURELIUS and DAZZER BOY, which whilst under hard riding, shifted in slightly. In this incident, DEAD CAT BOUNCE was accidentally struck over the head by the whips of M. Dracos (DAZZER BOY) and Z. Purton (AURELIUS). M. Dracos was reprimanded and advised to take greater measures to keep his mounts straight in the run to the finish.
RACE 8: ALL STYLE CARPENTRY H'CAP - 2150M.
NIGHT IN VIENNA and A LOT OF CLASS were slow to jump.
D. Griffin, rider of ENCOMIA, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in just passing the winning post on the first occasion, causing CLUTCH CARGO and STAR PACIFIC and SWIFT ECHO all to be tightened and obliged to race in restricted room.
DOWDO hung out rounding the first turn, taking SEMIPRECIOUS and ENCOMIA wider on the track.
BOOEYHACKER shifted out rounding the first turn when being eased to avoid the heels of DOWDO.
ALL WINNERS, SAM'S APPEAL, IDEAL EXPRESS AND SEMI PRECOUS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
