WEATHER – FINE TRACK - HEAVY RAIL – OUT 5M ALL TRACK
SLOW (2.04 p.m.)
RACE 1: PONY RIDING FOR THE DISABLED ASSOCIATION H'CAP – 1666M
NO INCIDENTS.
RACE 2: TRAFFIC PLANNING SERVICES H'CAP – 1200M
NERVES OF STEEL was slow to begin.
VAIN HALO shifted out at the start and made contact with BOOM SOUND.
After leaving the 1100m BOOM SOUND shifted in and brushed VAIN HALO.
POCKETSFIL pulled hard in the early stages.
When questioned regarding the performance of VAIN HALO, apprentice M Dracos stated that it was his instructions to have the horse settling off the pace. He felt that after leaving the 1100m, after receiving a slight brush from BOOM SOUND, the horse appeared to lose momentum. He added that VAIN HALO may not have been fully comfortable in today's track conditions and that from a point leaving the 600m until the 50m was held up and unable to improve. Stable foreman for trainer P. Moody, Mr Deakin, confirmed the instructions. Their explanations were noted.
The track category was upgraded to SLOW at 2.04 p.m.
RACE 3: MCINTYRE CENTRE H'CAP - 1200M
MAGGIE'S LOVE was a late scratching at 8.10 a.m. Trainer P. Moody was fined $100 for failing to scratch MAGGIE'S LOVE by the prescribed time.
CATALINA jumped away awkwardly and shifted out resulting in LUCY O'LUCY having to be checked.
CATALINA lost its near fore plate during the event.
RACE 4: MCINTYRE CENTRE H'CAP – 1000M
AVON JEWEL shifted in abruptly at the start resulting in COURTLY TRUMP having to be checked to avoid the heels of INNOVARI.
A short distance later apprentice L. Morrison, the rider of AVON JEWEL, allowed her mount to shift in which resulted in both INNOVARI and VIRGO'S HORIZON having to be steadied. Apprentice L. Morrison was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Approaching the home turn VIRGO'S HORIZON had to be momentarily eased off the heels of INNOVARI which shifted in.
RACE 5: SAPAR LANDSCAPING SUPPLIES H'CAP – 2150M
LUSKIN WARRIOR was slow to begin.
LUSKIN WARRIOR pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
LUSKIN WARRIOR shifted out to improve passing the 800m, resulting in LUST FOR POWER having to be steadied.
After leaving the 700m BEAU FILS shifted in and brushed the running rail on two occasions.
RACE 6: TOFT BROS STOCKFEEDS H'CAP – 1100M
JANADI jumped away awkwardly.
Leaving the 1000m HATTA'S DANCER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KYTANA which shifted in. Apprentice L. Morrison, the rider of KYTANA, was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that she is at least two lengths clear when shifting ground.
Passing the 700m PERFECT AFFAIR had to be steadied after improving up on to the heels of HAAYIL MARY.
ROSIE O'ROSIE, which finished a considerable distance last, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon who reported that he could not detect any obvious abnormality. Trainer C O'Reilly undertook to report to stewards if anything came to light which might explain the run.
RACE 7: ARTHUR ADVERTISING H'CAP – 1100M
OUR RIFFNEE and BILIS BILIS made contact on jumping away.
THE TANK raced wide throughout the event.
RACE 8: SOMMER & STAFF H'CAP – 1500M
MIGHTY LONGREACH shifted out at the start, making heavy contact with QUICK PRINCE.
QUICK PRINCE was forced to race wide throughout the event.
Approaching the 600m SON OF DAWN, which was inclined to lay in, had to be checked to avoid the heels of CLASSIC FRONTIER. GEMMA'S GLOW, which was following, had to be checked to avoid the heels of SON OF DAWN and shifted out abruptly, crowding SUNNI BY NAME on to MIGHTY LONGREACH which was forced wider on the track.
Over the concluding stages EUSTON ROAD shifted out and made contact with GEMMA'S GLOW.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
