Race 1: Sky Channel Rating Service 2yo Maiden H'cap - 800m.
1st - Celestalane 2nd - Missoni 3rd - Gunszup 4th - Pink Bubbles
IN A RAW (S. Drake) was slow to begin, and then hung out for the remainder of the event.
ARCTIC HALO (R. Goltz) was also slow to begin.
MISSONI (P. Spry) and NIGHT'S DELIGHT (M. Deguara) were tightened for room at the start between GUNSZUP (D. Griffin) and PINK BUBBLES (J. Powell), both of which shifted ground.
PURE DANCER (G. Colless) hung out on the home turn, forcing HAYIL LEE BEE (L McCoy) wider on the track.
MISSONI had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and on straightening.
HAYIL LEE BEE raced greenly in the straight and shifted out near the 150m..
MU MU DENMARK (M. Pelling) was hampered over the concluding stages when racing behind PURE DANCER, which was racing greenly.
PURE DANCER raced greenly throughout the event.
Race 2: Trackside Raceday Functions F&M Maiden H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Little Beautiful 2nd - Our Elsa 3rd - Grand Tarsho 4th - Euston Sally
Trainer J. Bayliss was fined $50 for failing to enact a stable return for MISS OOH by the prescribed time.
OUR ELSA (D. Gay) blundered at the start.
ZAFFERANO (R. Goltz) jumped outwards at the start, making heavy contact with FLINDERS ANA (C. Eaton).
QUESTEGIC (K. Treble) jumped inwards at the start, crowding EUSTON SALLY (G. Lynch).
C. Eaton, rider of FLINDERS ANA, was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in near the 800m. when insufficiently clear of OUR ELSA resulting in OUR ELSA being taken inwards on to MYSTIC NOTE ((S. Drake), which had to be checked. HABITUE (M. Smith-Lester), which was following, had to checked in consequence.
MYSTIC NOTE had to be checked severely after racing up on to the heels CRYSTAL APPEAL (M. Pelling) approaching the 200m..
FLINDERS ANA shifted its off fore plate in running.
Stewards intend opening an inquiry into the weight carried by OUR ELSA in this event.
Race 3: Our Eye Liner Function Centre C&G Maiden H'cap - 1200m.
1st - In Order 2nd - Venturado 3rd - Special Celeste 4th - Raw Ability
DANE IN GOLD (G. Lynch) jumped inwards at the start, tightening THEATRE LOVER (J. Powell) and SPECIAL CELESTE (J. Taylor).
DANGEROUS BLETCH (N. Jolly) and ARCHAEOUS (R. Pittman) were slow to begin.
Race 4: Bridal Fair-Here 20th February Class 1 H'cap - 1515m.
1st - Tea Biscuit 2nd - Magic Shot 3rd - Foreign Title 4th - Hiawaters
Trainer H. Norman's representative was advised that a fine of $100 would be imposed after TEA BISCUIT was presented to the enclosure without pacifiers.
TEA BUSCUIT (A. Best) jumped outwards at the start, bumping ROAD LOVER (J. Powell).
FOREIGN TITLE (M. Pelling) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1400m., ROAD LOVER and HARDCORE (D. Griffin) were forced to race in restricted room between TEA BUSCUIT and THE FITTER (N. Tomizawa), which was taken in slightly by MAGIC SHOT (G. Colless). A short distance later, ANIELSKI (T. Treichel) had to be steadied when tightened for room by GOLDIE'S SON (B. Hull), which shifted in, and MAGIC SHOT, which shifted out to relieve the pressure.
THE FITTER improved up on to the heels of HARDCORE near the 1200m. and had to be steadied.
At the 600m., HIAWATERS (M. Smith-Lester) raced up on to the heels of THE FITTER and had to be steadied.
Approaching the 100m., FOREIGN TITLE (M. Pelling) momentarily raced ungenerously when inclined to lay in.
Race 5: Ipswich Events Corporation Class 1 H'cap - 1010m.
1st - Prince Margaret 2nd - Cooper King 3rd - Our Ace 4th - Westdrums
S. Apthorpe, rider of WESTDRUMS, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift inwards approaching the 800m., resulting in MIGHTY CLASSY (Y. Yamazaki)shifting in and away from that gelding, forcing VIC'SACON (C. Spry) in on to the hind quarters of OUR ACE (K. Pope), causing VIC'SACON to be severely checked. In issuing a reprimand only, stewards took into account contributing factors.
MIGHTY CLASSY (Y. Yamazaki) had to eased rounding the home turn when overracing on the heels of PRINCESS MARGARET (G. Colless).
J. Warrington was fined $100 under AR137(b) for failing to ride SOUTHBROOK KID right out to the finish of the race.
MS FUNKY COLEMADINA was forced to race wide throughout.
Race 6: Ipswich City Council Class 2 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Savannah Road 2nd - Acapulco 3rd - A Royal Tale 4th - Yarrow
GIMME SHELTER (J. Taylor) lost ground at the start when tightened for room by HELLO SPECIAL (C. Eaton), which jumped inwards.
FLYING MEDICO (G. Colless) dipped at the start.
FLYING MEDICO was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
Race 7: XXXX As Good As Gold Class 5 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Milady Matty 2nd - All Express 3rd - Volkman 4th - Raja Prince
MISS LOUISA, which was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon after being kicked behind the barriers, was subsequently declared a late scratching by stewards at 4.50 p.m.. Following the event, all monies invested on MISS LOUISA were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.
Leaving the 400m., DANCE FOR GLORY was held up on the heels of the tiring MR. CHRISTEN.
When questioned G. Colless was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance of STONECRUSHER, adding that the gelding had led today as it had at its two previous starts however was under pressure prior to the home turn. A veterinary examination of STONECRUSHER failed to reveal any abnormality.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ORIGIN HERO, N. Jolly stated that after being caught wide early he endeavoured to go forward approaching the 600m. in an attempt to gain cover, however was unable to do so due to horses on his outside and was unable to improve until shortly after straightening.
