Race 1: WWW.SKYCHANNEL.COM.AU MAIDEN H'CAP - 1015M.
1st - Smart Alick 2nd - Zero Hero 3rd - Chrondite 4th - Miss Joker
WILL IT REIGN was slow to begin.
CHRONDITE faltered on jumping away.
SPIKY SPINNER was hampered on jumping away between HONOUR YOUR MARKS, which was slow to begin, and KELTIC MARK, which shifted out.
KELTIC MARK, SPIKY SPINNER and WILL IT REIGN were all forced to race wide throughout.
Race 2: OUR EYE LINER FUNCTION CENTRE CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1015M.
1st - Aretino 2nd - Toms Dancer 3rd - Show Poker 4th - Gold Treat
Stewards accepted the explanation by trainer L. Logan for the late declaration of A. Best as the rider of FIREFOOT REGAL.
CRAIGLEA HELLE and SHOW POKER were slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, CRAIGLEA HELLE was placed in restricted room by TOMS DANCER which was taken in by ARETINO. B. Stewart, rider of ARETINO, was advised to exercise more care.
After passing the 800m. when the pace steadied, TOMS DANCER and CRAIGLEA HELLE both had to be steadied.
Near the 300m., SHOW POKER was disappointed for a run between TOMS DANCER, which shifted in, and CRAIGLEA HELLE, which shifted out.
FIREFOOT REGAL raced 3 wide throughout.
CRAIGLEA HELLE lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 3: BRIDAL FAIR-HERE THIS SUNDAY CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1200M.
1st - Smarten Classy 2nd - Tornado Alley 3rd - General Patton 4th - Overrun
As G. Colless was to be overweight, M. Pelling was substituted as the rider of WISEPOINTS. G. Colless was fined $100.
TORNADO ALLEY jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with SMARTEN CLASSY.
BABE OF THE YEAR jumped awkwardly and threw its head in the air, losing considerable ground.
Approaching the 1100m., HOUSE OF WOODWIND had to be steadied off the heels of GENERAL PATTON when taken out by SMARTEN CLASSY, which in turn was taken out slightly by TORNADO ALLEY. A short distance later, GENERAL PATTON had to be steadied off the heels of TORNADO ALLEY, which continued to shift out.
OVERRUN raced wide throughout.
Stewards inquired into the riding tactics adopted by apprentice C. Thomson, rider of TORNADO ALLEY. Stewards advised C. Thomson that they were of the opinion that her ride lacked judgement in the early stages after allowing TORNADO ALLEY to race wider than necessary and failing to cross to the lead when she had the opportunity to do so approaching the 700m.. Stewards also advised C. Thomson that had she been able to occupy a position outside WISEPONTS in the early stages, she may have had the opportunity to allow TORNADO ALLEY to settle. In considering the matter, stewards took into account C. Thomson's inexperience, and acting under Local Rule 36(e), advised her that her licence to ride at provincial meetings had been downgraded for a period of not less than 6 weeks, and that she would be required to make an application for an upgrade after gaining experience in the country.
Race 4: TRACKSIDE RACEDAY FUNCTIONS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP - 1350M.
1st - Moss Mania 2nd - Pic 'N' Mix 3rd - Chelseann 4th - Steorra
RAPID SPUR proved difficult to load. Trainer P. Duff was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the filly prior to its next race start.
ANGELITY was slow to begin.
SIR MOCHA and FIRE AND FORGET came together on jumping.
GINNY SWEEP was tightened for room shortly after the start between STEORRA, which shifted out, and SIR MOCHA, which shifted in.
G. Colless, rider of CHELSEANN, was reprimanded for shifting in near the 1200m., taking SIR MOCHA in on to PIC 'N' MIX, which shifted in, taking THEATRE LOVER in on to ANGELITY, which had to be steadied. SIR MOCHA commenced to overrace for a short distance after this incident.
FIRE AND FORGET, GINNY SWEEP and FINLANDER all raced wide throughout.
STEORRA was held up for clear running approaching the 400m..
SIR MOCHA lost its near fore plate in running.
Race 5: CORPORATE CONFERENCE & SEMINARS CLASS 2 H'CAP - 2150M.
1st - Willowview 2nd - With Astaire 3rd - Knappstein 4th - Umalord
KNAPPSTEIN was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon at the barriers and passed fit to start.
KAZAKH STAN was slow to begin.
PETRIFIED was forced to race wide in the early stages.
Approaching the 600m, KAZAKH STAN had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring PETRIFIED.
Nearing the 400m., KAZAKH STAN had to be steadied when tightened for room between PETRIFIED and THAT DREAM, both of which shifted ground.
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of WILLOWVIEW, L. Patton stated she expected the mare to race well at Eagle Farm at its previous start but was caught wide. She added that she instructed apprentice Attard to race forward today, and with the light weight, WILLOWVIEW ran up to expectations. L. Patton's comments were noted.
The club's veterinary surgeon reported that KAZAKH STAN was found to be mildly distressed following the event. Trainer S. Dwyer advised stewards that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell.
Race 6: QUEENSLAND TIMES - OUR LOCAL NEWS 3YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE - 1525M.
1st - Wysiws 2nd - Alcippe 3rd - Gun Carriage 4th - Sequalo Buck
GUN CARRIAGE jumped outwards at the start and made contact with MYSTIC NOTE.
SEEING RED was tightened on jumping away between OUSTING and PRINCE VLAD.
OUSTING was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages, and approaching he 800m., shifted in and made contact with SEQUALO BUCK.
At the same stage, WYSIWS shifted out to avoid the heels of SEQUALO BUCK, taking PRINCE VLAD wider on the track.
Approaching the 600m., WYSIWS shifted out to improve, taking PRINCE VLAD wider on the track.
Race 7: ENJOY A SCHWEPPES LEMONADE CLASS 6 H'CAP - 1525M.
1st - Fil The Bill 2nd - Palace Jest 3rd - Raja Prince 4th - Volkman
DREAM OF YOU was slow to begin.
RAJA PRINCE jumped awkwardly.
Approaching the 1200m., PALACE JEST had to be steadied off the heels of MR MONEYMAKER.
Near the 500m., RAJA PRINCE shifted out to improve, taking DREAM OF YOU wider on the track.
PALACE JEST was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
JUST MACCA had to be steadied approaching the 100m. when tightened for room between PALACE JEST and GOLD KING, which shifted out.
Race 8: XXXX AS GOOD AS GOLD CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1350M.
1st - Final Prep 2nd - Clangover 3rd - Tejanda 4th - Pride Of Africa
KALMIA was hampered on jumping away between PRIDE OF AFRICA and CLANGOVER, which shifted out.
Approaching the 800m., FINAL PREP, which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of CLANGOVER.
DANISH BEAUTY was forced to race wide throughout.
L. Wray, rider of FINAL PREP, was advised of her obligations to ride her mounts right out to the finish of the race.
