Race 1: Pepsi Max QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate - 1350m.
1st - Vive Le Roi 2nd - Kalinga Blaze 3rd - Guerrouj 4th - Legal Jargon
LAST GUN (M. Yoshinaga) began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
BEAT THE JUDGE jumped inwards at the start, striking the side of the barriers.
KALINGA BLAZE (B. Thomson), which was also slow to begin, was then inclined to hang out at the 900m. and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
Approaching the 400m., LEGAL MISS (S. Drake) was momentarily tightened for room by BEAT THE JUDGE, which was inclined to lay in.
DRAGUNOV (K. Pope) was held up momentarily for clear running near the 100m..
VIVE LE ROI (J. Taylor) and LEGAL JARGON (M. Traecey) also raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Konami Maiden H'cap - 1500m.
1st - Keave House 2nd - Our Heart Throb 3rd - Pretty Sister 4th - Flinders Poppy
App. L. Wray was fined $100 for failing to claim her full allowance on LAST TO KNOW.
LAST TO KNOW (L. Wray) blundered at the start.
KEAVE HOUSE (S. Galloway) and NIGHT RULER (M. Radecker) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
PRETTY SISTER (H. Hamada) rolled out rounding the home turn, hampering LAST TO KNOW.
Trainer K. Willis was advised that NIGHT RULER, which exhibited an awkward action in its near hind leg during the race, would be barred from racing until the gelding trials to the satisfaction of the stewards in an official trial.
Race 3: XXXX Gold Class 3 H'cap - 1500M.
1st - Rapid Reason 2nd - Mikadar 3rd - Encores And Roses 4th - Sandals
D. Griffin was dislodged from SANDALS without any apparent injury on leaving the enclosure.
HE'S NO GENTLEMAN (R. Pittman) and GALAXY FIGHTER (D. Green) were slow to begin.
ENCORES AND ROSES (K. Pope) raced fiercely in the early stages.
NEDIYM'S IMAGE (M. Palmer) was inclined to hang out around the 1000m. turn., and was then held up for clear running until the middle stages of the straight behind ENCORES AND ROSES.
AMBOO (S. Galloway) had difficulty obtaining clear running from leaving the 800m. and again was disappointed for a run on entering the straight between CALIFORNIA BELLE (G. Lynch) and SANDALS (D. Green).
CALIFORNIA BELLE (G. Lynch) race wide throughout.
Race 4: Woodstock Bourbon Maiden 3yo & Up Plate - 1100m.
1st - Bound To 2nd - A Secret Kept 3rd - Monte Ocky 4th - Garrick
MONTY OCKY, which pulled hard and was unable to be restrained during the preliminary, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
JADROY reared up at the barriers, dislodging S. Richardson, who sustained no apparent injury. JADROY was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
ACT VANE (R. Pittman) was slow to begin.
JADROY (S. Richardson) jumped outwards at the start, hampering MARCOLA (K. Pope).
C. Small, rider of BOUND TO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in shortly after the start when insufficiently clear of PELTING (M. Yoshinaga), resulting in PELTING having to be checked. C. Small was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 8 August, and to expire at midnight, 20 August 2005.
Race 5: Bundaberg Rum Class 6 H'cap - 1100m.
1st - Punjab Lad 2nd - Snaps 3rd - Chief Qualo 4th - Leather
GILDED TIARA got its head up and raced ungenerously in the early stages.
CHIEF QUALO (J. Warrington) shifted out at the 400m., hampering MISS FAIRCHILD (R. Plumb).
Race 6: Keno Class 2 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Air Specific 2nd - Frigate 3rd - Teaker's Blue Star 4th - Vitruvius
FRIGATE (S. Drake) and FIZZY GIRL (C. Kearney) came together on jumping away.
Approaching the first turn, AIR SPECIFIC (L. Fyfe) was inclined to overrace and shifted out off the heels of GO GADGET (G. Lynch), forcing FRIGATE (S. Drake), BOLD PHARAOH (B. Hull) and WATSON ROAD (J. Taylor) wider on the track. WATSON ROAD was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.
After passing the 500m., VITRUVIUS (R. Plumb) and DEMOLITION (N. Tomizawa) were placed in restricted room to the inside of FRIGATE (S. Drake), which shifted in. S. Drake, rider of FRIGATE, was advised to exercise more care.
Near the 150m., TRANZUIL BLUE (G. McKeon) was disappointed for a run between VITRUVIUS, which shifted in, and GO GADGET (G. Lynch), which shifted out slightly. TRANZUIL BLUE then shifted to the inside of GO GADGET, taking DEMOLITION in, hampering MIRACLE SOUND (M. Morris). Apprentice G. McKeon, rider of TRANQUIL BLUE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 7: Yalumba Class 1 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Lipinski 2nd - Three Coins 3rd - Forbidden Places 4th - Road To Honours
Apprentice M. Yoshinaga was fined $100 for failing to claim his full allowance on GOLDIE'S SON.
OCTAGONAL'S STAR (R. Plumb) was slow to begin.
PREMEDITATE (A. Pattillo) jumped outwards at the start, making heavy contact with FORBIDDEN PLACES (S. Galloway).
OCTAGONAL'S STAR shifted in near the 400m., making contact with the running rail.
SECRETIVE ROSE (S. Richardson) was forced to race wide throughout.
Race 8: Aristocrat Class 1 Plate - 1666m.
1st - Rose Hussar 2nd - Our Jim Beau 3rd - Oriental Peace 4th - Lightning Edge
Trainer Mr K. Smith was unable to present the Document of Description for SPARK OF ETERNITY upon request. Mr Smith was advised that SPARK OF ETERNITY would be barred from racing until he presents the Document of Description for the gelding.
GUNMAN (M. Palmer) jumped awkwardly.
KAZAKH STAN (S. Galloway) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.
ROSE HUSSAH (M. Yoshinaga) also jumped awkwardly.
BECCA'S BELLE (A. Merritt) was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, SHOWER OF CHAMPERS (D. Green) shifted out abruptly, making contact with the hind quarters of GUNMAN (M. Palmer).
Leaving the 1400m., GUNMAN was obliged to steady when tightened for room momentarily by LIGHTNING EDGE (S. Drake).
Approaching the 1300m., SHOWER OF CHAMPERS (D. Green), which was inclined to overrace, was forced to ease from the heels of ORIENTAL PEACE (A. Pattillo).
AUNTY BESS (C. Kearney) raced 3 wide throughout.
