SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Due to transport difficulties, S. Katsidis was unable to fulfil his engagements in races 1, 2 and 3. B. Johnson was indisposed and unable to fulfil his engagement in race 3. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.


Race 1: XXXX As Good As Gold 3yo & Up Maiden Plate - 1520m.
1st - Miss Resolution 2nd - Big Bedourie 3rd - Prince Cartier 4th - Refined Desert

GO THE TIGER was a late scratching at 10.55 a.m. after trainer Mr S. Jones informed stewards that the wrong horse had been transported to the track. Due to time constraints, GO THE TIGER was then unable to be brought to the course from its Gold Coast stables. Subsequently, stewards charged trainer S. Jones with negligence under the terms of Australian Rule of Racing 175(k). Mr Jones pleaded guilty and was fined the sum of $500.

PRINCE CARTIER (S. Galloway) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with COMMANDS RESPECT (G. Lynch), which was slow into stride.

Approaching the 1300m., DUCHESS OF OMA (P. Hammersley) momentarily raced ungenerously.

REFINED DESERT (A. Merritt) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Over the concluding stages, BIG BEDOURIE (N. Tomizawa) was inclined to hang out under pressure.

Race 2: Sky Channel Live Racing 3yo Maiden Action Plate - 1350m.
1st - Monzip 2nd - Tag 3rd - Prince Lionheart 4th - Beau Velour

BILISLAYTA (B. Pengelly) jumped outwards at the start, taking SAN PHILLIPE (G. McKeon) out. At the same time, JANDO (N. Tomizawa) jumped inwards, severely inconveniencing KALINGA BLAZE (B. Thomson).

SHEDDING (A. Merritt) was severely cramped at the start between MONZIP (B. El-Issa) and PRINCE LIONHEART (K. Wharton), both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 1200m., BILISLAYTA shifted out abruptly, making contact with JANDO.

In the home straight, PRINCE LIONHEART was inclined to lay inwards under pressure.

MONZIP was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

BILISLAYTA raced greenly and was inclined to hang out for the entire journey.



Race 3: Ipswich Racing Awards Charity Dinner Maiden H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Sams Advice 2nd - Hatchet Bay 3rd - Lunchtime Red 4th - Shark Park

JOSHUA EXPRESS was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon at the barriers and was found to be sore in the off fore leg. JOSHUA EXPRESS was declared a late scratching at 1.03 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on JOSHUA EXPRES were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 2 cents in the dollar on the face value of successful win and place bets. Trainer K. Shelton was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for JOSHUA EXPRESS prior to its next race start.

SHARK PARK (T.Pannell) and LUNCHTIME RED (S. Galloway) jumped awkwardly.

SPECIAL ANTON (D. Green) also jumped awkwardly, making contact with DARLING GAL (H. Hamada), which was slow into stride.

LADY HOUDINI (A. Merritt) shifted out at the start, crowding HATCHET BAY (P. Hammersley).

Approaching the 800m., PELTING (R. Goltz) momentarily raced ungenerously.

Rounding the home turn, SPECIAL ANTON (D. Green) rolled inwards, resulting in SAMS ADVICE (L. Deguara) having to be eased.

HATCHET BAY (P. Hammersley) was held up in the early stages of the straight, then shifted out and made contact with REGAL CHARMER (M. Price) near the 150m..

Over the concluding stages, SPECIAL ANTON was inclined to race greenly and shifted out, crowding DARLING GAL.

SPINCOURT (N. Thomas) and GEE TEE OH (B. Pengelly) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Value Sire-Son Of Danehill Irish Royal Maiden H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Strategic Choice 2nd - Bentley Ess 3rd - King Jesmond 4th - Belles Opinion

At the start, STRATEGIC CHOICE (R. Plumb) jumped awkwardly and outwards, making contact with ROI SOLEIL (D. Griffin), which was slow into stride.

LADY ROMOLA (A. Merritt) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 800m., BUXOM BABE (G. Colless), when being steadied, shifted out and made contact with BELLES OPINION (M. Smith-Lester), which became momentarily unbalanced.

FAIRLY STOKED (M. Palmer) was disappointed for a run to the inside of BLIND MAN'S BLUFF (J. Sharp) after leaving the 500m..

BUXOM BABE was held up for clear running behind BENTLEY ESS (P. Hammersley) in the early stages of the straight, and then was disappointed for a run near the 150m. after shifting out and making contact with BELLES OPINION.

SAHARA NOBLE (G. Lynch) was obliged to race wide throughout.


Race 5: Queensland Rail Institute Class 4 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Suubird 2nd - Northern Force 3rd - Lindholme 4th - Last Human

PALACE JEST (G. Lynch) jumped with its head in the air and was slow to begin.

Approaching the 650m., LAST HUMAM (S. Galloway) had to be steadied off the heels of NORTHERN FORCE (N. Tomizawa).

AIR SPECIFIC (L. Deguara) was held up for clear running in the early and middle stages of the straight behind HIGH SPY (D. Griffin).


Race 6: Wattyl Paints-Preferred By QRI Class 1 Plate - 1100m.
1st - Coincidental 2nd - St Pirian 3rd - Serenity Blue 4th - Premeditate

WESTDRUMS was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 9.10 a.m.. Trainer D. Burns was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next race start.

SERENITY BLUE (R. Pittman) and DOUBLE DECKER (G. Lynch) brushed at the start.

OUR FREELANCE (N. Thomas) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with SHIPSWAY (K. Wharton).

THE PROMS and PREMEDITATE were obliged to race wide throughout.




Race 7: Redihomes Class 3 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Tantat Xaar 2nd - Nediym's Image 3rd - Little Beautiful 4th - Dapple Express

KING CARTIER (P. Hammersley) and LUSKIN WARRIOR (D. Green) were slow to begin.

LUSKIN WARRIOR finished a distant last in the event. Stewards ordered that the gelding undergo a veterinary examination, which failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Stewards questioned trainer Mrs K. Doughty regarding the improved performance of TANTAT XAAR as compared to its recent starts. Mrs Doughty stated that since winning at Ipswich on 8 July, the gelding has not travelled comfortably in its 3 starts since and proved disappointing when ridden amongst horses close to the fence. She added that with the addition of blinkers today and instructions to bring the horse wider into the straight, TANTAT XAAR was able to finish the race off strongly. Stewards noted the explanation.

Race 8: Railways Credit Union Open H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Active Combat 2nd - Generalissimo 3rd - Rangers 4th - Deuxieme

CANADIAN BUNNY (B. El-Issa) was tightened for room at the start between GENERALISSIMO (S. Katsidis) and RANGERS (M. Price).

DEUXIEME (S. McLean) was slow to begin.

GENERALISSIMO (S. Katsidis) was held up in the early stages of the straight behind SANDY RIVER and the tiring MINDREADER (B. Pengelly).

From its wide barrier, CUT OF DIAMONDS (K. Yoshida) was forced to cover extra ground for the major part of the event.

Race 9: Craig Dora Class 2 H'cap - 1700m.
1st - Double Portion 2nd - Nothin Leica Dream 3rd - Deauville 4th - Ivors Lass
As N. Tomizawa had been dually engaged for I'M A NUISANCE and ROAD TO HONOURS, D. Griffin was substituted as the rider of I’M A NUISANCE. Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer R. Heathcote for the dual engagement.

ANCIENT GOLD (G. Colless) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with KAZAKH STAN (A. Merritt).

BLEVIC'S BEST (M. Price) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1200m., ORIENTAL PEACE (B. El-Issa) had to be eased off the heels of ROAD TO HONOURS (N. Tomizawa) when ROAD TO HONOURS steadied the pace.

YOSSARIAN (D. Green) was held up in the early and middle stages of the straight behind ORIENTAL PEACE.

Over the concluding stages, BLEVIC'S BEST had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring ROAD TO HONOURS.
A veterinary examination of ORIENTAL PEACE, which performed below expectations, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
