SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As J. Bowditch and W. Pearson were ill, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: B&D Contracting Class 6 H’cap – 1350m
1st – Kalinga County 2nd – Kid De Lago 3rd – Slick Trick 4th – Ram Jam Inn

On return to scale, a protest was lodged by R. McMahon, rider of the 2nd placegetter, KID DE LAGO, against KALINGA COUNTY being declared the winner, alleging interference in the run to the finish. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the film, the protest was dismissed. Stewards found that whilst KID DE LAGO had been cramped for room when taking a run between MIGHTY ICON (M. Radecker) and KALINGA COUNTY as a result of KALINGA COUNTY shifting ground over the final 80m, they were satisfied that the ground lost was insufficient to amend the Judge’s placings. At a subsequent inquiry, G. Geran, rider of KALINGA COUNTY, was cautioned and advised to take greater measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in the run to the finish.

KID DE LAGO was slow to jump.

RAM JAM INN (C. Spry) briefly hung in near the home turn, momentarily cramping KID DE LAGO (R. McMahon).

Race 2: Powdercoating Professionals Maiden H’cap – 800m
1st – Eadie May 2nd – Race Gossip 3rd – Jenn 4th – Frisco Affair

EAST ANGLIA (A. Taylor) was slow to begin.

DELTA SKY (A. Spinks) jumped outwards at the start and hampered WESTERN BULLET (M. Palmer), which had been slow to begin.

JENN (J. Taylor) was tightened for room at the start between EADIE MAY (J. Sharp), which shifted out slightly, and ORANGE FERRARI (S. Wright), which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.

Race 3: All Style Shop Fitters QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1010m
1st – Sequedo 2nd – Alyssa Jean 3rd – Gron Troo 4th – Strong Tempo

RAPID ROWA was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 9.40 a.m.

SORCEROUS (D. Green) was slow to begin.

GRON TROO was caught wide rounding the first turn and was obliged to race 4 wide for the entire race.

WEST OF HOLLYWOOD (S. Galloway) shifted out near the 300m and brushed the hind quarters of SORCEROUS.

Race 4: Chek Air Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Unleaded 2nd – Be Pacific 3rd – Dodge Phoenix 4th – Imperial Grouch

NATIONALIST, which injured itself in the enclosure, was declared a late scratching at 3 p.m. on veterinary advice. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on NATIONALIST were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 16 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 14 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.

IMPERIAL GROUCH (M. Cahill) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with RAZYDANCER (B. Pengelly).

MR LUCKY CEE (S. Galloway) became unbalanced and was inclined to shift in away from UNLEADED (B. El-Issa) near the 1100m and when unbalanced made contact with SOUS CHEF (R. McMahon).

P. Denton, rider of JADROY, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 800m, causing MR LUCKY CEE (S. Galloway) to become unbalanced and race in restricted room.

At the 500m, UNLEADED (B. El-Issa) improved on to the heels of JADROY (P. Denton) and had to be steadied.

AL RAS (J. Taylor) shifted out on straightening and bumped BE PACIFIC (D. Griffin). JADROY (P. Denton), which had a tendency to lay in when racing on the outside of BE PACIFIC, shifted out abruptly to avoid heels and this resulted in MR LUCKY CEE being inconvenienced. J. Taylor, rider of AL RAS, was reprimanded.

Stewards questioned R. McMahon and trainer J. Hawkes’ representative Mr D. Brown, regarding the disappointing performance of SOUS CHEF. R. McMahon stated that the horse dipped near the 900m when racing in restricted room and the horse appeared somewhat uncomfortable on the track. He added that after losing ground in the middle stages the horse failed to make any significant ground over the latter stages and he felt that the horse failed to handle the slow track. Trainer D. Brown stated this was the horse’s first start on a rain-affected track and agreed with the assessment of R. McMahon. A post race veterinary examination of SOUS CHEF failed to reveal any abnormalities.

R. McMahon, rider of the 4th placegetter, SOUS CHEF, was fined $400 for failing to ride his mount out right to the finish. AR137(b).

Stewards will interview jockey D. Griffin as to his failure to seek permission from the stewards to leave the racecourse.

Race 5: Ipswich Lube Check Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Graceful Princess 2nd – Fairsea 3rd – Good Luck 4th – Chien De Chat

CECILALOYSIUS was a late scratching at 10.37 a.m. on veterinary advice.

Trainer G. Burns was fined $200 for failing to scratch INASPIN by the prescribed time. AR114.

GRACEFUL PRINCESS (J. Taylor) blundered on jumping away and shifted out, brushing FAIRSEA (M. Radecker).

GRACEFUL PRINCESS bled during the event. As this was the second occasion on which the mare has bled, Trainer M. Lakey was advised that a lifetime bar from racing would now be imposed on GRACEFUL PRINCESS.

Race 6: Financial Life Solutions Pty Ltd Class 1 H’cap – 1350m
1st – Riviera Sur Mer 2nd – Kalinga Blaze 3rd – Basha Farleaga 4th – Jet Boy

LODGER TOM, which sustained minor injuries when being transported to the track, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

THE JOKE (K. Wharton) was tightened for room on jumping away between DEPOSED (C. Eaton) and ASTRAL TRAVEL (R. McMahon) when both horses shifted ground.

SPECIAL DAD (M. Price) and TACT (M. Cahill) were a little slow to begin.

LODGER TOM (A. Spinks) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, tightening JET BOY (A. Taylor).

Near the 1100m, JET BOY was inclined to overrace and had to be checked off the heels of LODGER TOM. JET BOY continued to overrace for some distance thereafter and as a result was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.

Leaving the 200m, ASTRAL TRAVEL (R. McMahon) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DEPOSED (C. Eaton), which was taken in by SPECIAL DAD (M. Price).

Approaching the 50m, SPECIAL DAD had to be steadied after improving on to the heels of WIDE BAY (M. Rice).

LODGER TOM lost its near fore plate in running.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TACT, M. Cahill stated that the horse seemed somewhat reluctant to hold its ground when racing inside of horses and in particular in the middle stages when its racing room was restricted inside of LODGER TOM (A. Spinks). He added that TACT dipped rounding the home turn and ran home only fairly in the straight. Trainer C. Higgins expressed his disappointment over the performance today, stating that the horse had recently trialled well in preparation for today’s race, however he felt that the horse may require gelding. The explanation was noted. A post race veterinary examination of TACT failed to reveal any abnormalities.

C. Eaton was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DEPOSED. She stated that the horse was inclined to travel a little too keenly in running and it was not suited by the slow track. The explanation was noted.

Race 7: Mad Mothers Are Out Class 1 H’cap – 2150m
1st – Semi Final 2nd – Beartracker 3rd – Watts Doing 4th – Rich Blue Dane

Trainer M. Park was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for SUPREME AGENDA by the prescribed time.

BEAU SAM (G. Geran) was slow to begin.

BEAU SAM was inclined to pull hard in the middle stages.

RICH BLUE DANE (S. Jones) was inclined to overrace approaching and rounding the first turn.

Approaching the home turn, HALF CIRCLE (M. Price) was held up momentarily on the heels of the tiring PRAYER CHAMBER (C. Eaton).

Passing the 200m, ENGLOBO (N. Tomizawa) shifted out under pressure and made contact with the hind quarters of RICH BLUE DANE.

SPANISH PAL (D. Coleman) and SOCIAL WORKER (D. Green) raced wide for the majority of the race.
