SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As both M. Cahill and S. Galloway were indisposed stewards permitted riding replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Stewards advised both riders that a medical certificate must be produced before their next race rides.


Race 1: Aristocrat Class 1 H’Cap – 1700m
1st – Red Amigo 2nd – Irish Pub 3rd – Zahnoochi 4th – Handy Hints


IRISH PUB (B. El-Issa) began awkwardy.

Shortly after the start IRISH PUB shifted in making contact with ZAHNOOCHI (R. Goltz), which in turn shifted in making contact with JUGERSTON (App M. Abe).

IRISH PUB had a tendency to overrace in the early stages of the event.

LIGHTWAY (D. Griffin) overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.

App M. Abe the rider of JUGERSTON which ran fifth was reprimanded for failing to weigh in.




Race 2: Schweppes Maiden Plate – 800m
1st – Egyptian Jewel 2nd – Sequalo Gold 3rd – Personal Vendetta 4th – Grace The Wind

Due to a clerical error App T. Chambers was notified as the rider of PROZELLAN when it should have been L. Cheshire.

VIEWING was declared a late scratching at 9.22 a.m. by order of stewards. At a subsequent inquiry trainer R. McCall was fined the sum of $300.00 for failing to scratch VIEWING by the prescribed time.

PROZELLAN (L. Cheshire) and LEGAL VIEW (S. Drake) were both slow to begin.

SEQUALO GOLD (R. Goltz) began awkwardly and lost ground.

SEQUALO GOLD was momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

PERSONAL VENDETTA (B. Evans) had difficulty obtaining clear running to the inside of DULACCA ROSE (K. Yoshida) from entering the home straight until approaching the 100m.

GRACE THE WIND (App M. Hellyer) raced erratically over the final 300m when placed under pressure and shifted in near the winning post crowding the running of MAIZVILLE (W. Clasohm) forcing that horse in onto KRISTEL PUHA (App T. Chambers), which had to be steadied.

Following the running of this event App T. Chambers was stood down by the Club’s doctor and was replaced by App M. Hellyer as the rider of PRECLUDE in Race 4. App T. Chambers was advised that she must provide a medical certificate before her next race ride.


Race 3: Club Partners QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Lion Beauty 2nd – Huckleberry Dane 3rd – Alberton Park 4th - Dramatising

STONEY PARK was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon prior to the start who reported the gelding was shin sore in the near fore leg. STONEY PARK was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.20 p.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on STONEY PARK were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply. Trainer B. Guy was advised that a veterinary certificate of clearance must be produced before the horse would be permitted to race again.

GOLDEN CASH (J. Byrne) and DRAMATISING (C. Reith) both were slow to begin.

BUSH LARRIKIN (App L. Rolls) began awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the 800m HUCKLEBERRY DANE (App M. Speers) commenced to overrace and improved onto the heels of LION BEAUTY (R. Wiggins) and shifted out forcing BUSH LARRIKIN wider on the track. HUCKLEBERRY DANE was obliged to race three (3) wide from that point on.

BUSH LARRIKIN raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 4: Yalumba Wines Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Choose A Star 2nd – Shocking Blue 3rd – Often Wrong 4th – Mortal Chase

UBERWALD (B. El-Issa) and SHOCKING BLUE (G. Geran) both began awkwardly and lost ground.

ZULU QUEEN (J. Bowditch) and PAMELA’S WONDER (T. Treichel) made contact on jumping away, both of which shifted ground.

LADY SARAH (App M. Speers) dipped shortly after the start and was then crowded for room by ALTISSIMO (D. Craven), which shifted in.

Approaching the 1000m UBERWALD, which initially shifted inside the line of the running rail, got its head up and became unbalanced. UBERWALD then had to be checked as a result of being tightened by OFTEN WRONG (B. Pengelly), which was taken in by MORTAL CHASE (N. Seymour). Whilst it was established UBERWALD had raced ungenerously, nonetheless N. Seymour the rider of MORTAL CHASE was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

G. Geran the rider of SHOCKING BLUE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 200m he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of ZULU QUEEN (J. Bowditch) which had to be checked. As a result of this interference ZULU QUEEN made contact with the hind quarters of OFTEN WRONG. G. Geran’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 31 May 2009 and expire midnight 11 June 2009.

Close to the finish line SHOCKING BLUE shifted out under pressure. B. Pengelly the rider of OFTEN WRONG was questioned as to whether he had ridden his mount right to the finish line. B. Pengelly explained due to SHOCKING BLUE shifting ground he was hampered and unable to use his whip approaching the finish. Stewards noted his explanation however, he was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right to the finish line at least hands and heels.


Race 5: XXXX Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Syndrome 2nd - Sir Mossman 3rd – Lander 4th – Little Shrewdy

The start of this race was delayed when THE SNICSTER dislodged its off hind plate during its preliminary. As THE SNICSTER was unable to be replated due to being fractious permission was granted for the horse to race without its off hind plate.

The start of this race was further delayed when LANDER proved difficult to load. Trainer M. Thexton was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.

PIERES (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

MORGAN FACTOR (App C. McIvor) jumped awkwardly and made contact with MR DAYBREAK (T. Treichel) as the result of SIR MOSSMAN (App J. Jones) also jumping awkwardly and shifting out.

LANDER (L. Cassidy) began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with SYNDROME (App C. Grylls).

Shortly after the start PABBA (C. Eaton) shifted out making contact with DE DION BOUTON (C. Gilby).

MORGAN FACTOR overraced in the early stages of the event.

Approaching the 600m THE SNICSTER (J. Bowditch) had to be steadied when crowded for room by SYNDROME, which commenced to race greenly.


Race 6: Bundaberg Rum Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Tikit To Glory 2nd – Good Reception 3rd – Spanglish 4th – About Eve

Trainer G. Heinrich through her stable representative Miss L. Cummings was fined the sum of $100.00 for presenting TIKIT TO GLORY with incorrect gear.

RELATIVE VELOCITY (App S. Bogenhuber) jumped in the air and missed the start.

LA JOCONDE (J. Byrne) was slow to jump.

MIUCCIA (T. Treichel) and LA BANDERA (C. Reith) both blundered on jumping away.

Passing the 800m RELATIVE VELOCITY, which was inclined to pull hard, improved onto the heels of SPANGLISH (App M. Speers) and had to be checked and shifted wider. RELATIVE VELOCITY raced wide from this point on.

SPANGLISH raced wide for the majority of the event.

Near the finish line GOOD RECEPTION (R. Wiggins) appeared to shy and shifted in making contact with TIKIT TO GLORY (B. Stewart).



Race 7: Tender Plus Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Rocktari 2nd – Crown Mist 3rd – Tuscon Rain 4th - Epicred

GO HARD was declared a late scratching at 9.15 a.m. by order of stewards. At a subsequent inquiry trainer R. Mackay was fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to scratch GO HARD by the prescribed time.

Trainer R. Coveney was fined the sum of $100.00 for presenting EPICRED with incorrect gear.

GALLANT HAWK (M. Palmer) and DRENALIN (B. Stewart) made contact at the start as a result of both horses shifting ground. Shortly after GALLANT HAWK shifted back in brushing EPICRED (App M. Abe) which shifted in making contact with SUPERTAX (L. Cassidy).

CHAIRMANSHIP (App M. Hellyer) began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start DRENALIN shifted in making contact with GALLANT HAWK.

Leaving the 1000m DRENALIN commenced to overrace when crowded for room by CHAIRMANSHIP, which shifted in making contact with GALLANT HAWK.

MISTER GAMMA raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

Shortly after straightening MISTER GAMMA (B. El-Issa) was hampered momentarily when taking a tight run between CHAIRMANSHIP and BEYOND THE LIMIT (S. Scriven) which shifted in momentarily.

Near the 500m MISTER GAMMA had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DRENALLIN, which shifted out.

Near the 100m CHAIRMANSHIP which was under pressure and tiring became unbalanced and struck the running rail when MISTER GAMMA shifted in away from BEYOND THE LIMIT.

ROCKTARI (K.Banks) raced wide for the majority of the event.



Race 8: ATMACC International Class 2 H’Cap – 1350m
1st – Gold Rating 2nd – Miss Maggie 3rd – Lauaki 4th – Bonne Affaire

GOLD RATING (App B. Evans) jumped away awkwardly making contact with HELL WEEK (N. Evans).

Approaching the 1100m SPANISH KISS (D. Griffin) commenced to overrace and threw its head in the air.

Near the 800m SPANISH KISS again had to be steadied off the heels of BONNE AFFAIRE (C. Reith)

Approaching the 400m GOLD RATING, after attempting a narrow run between BONNE AFFAIRE (C. Reith) to its outside and SHOCKIE (App J. Jones) to its inside, shifted in and away from BON AFFAIRE and in doing so tightened the running of HELL WEEK, which made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. Whilst stewards were of the opinion that no one rider could be held responsible for the incident App B. Evans the rider of GOLD RATING was nonetheless advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

VINTAGE MO (L. Cassidy) and RUNJANA (J. Byrne) both raced wide for the majority of the event.
