SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Due to lengthy traffic delays as a result of a traffic accident en route to the course, Race 1 was rescheduled to 1.17 pm, Race 2 to 1.47 pm and Race 3 to 2.17 pm.

As P. Hammersley was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Ken Hooper & Associates CG&E Maiden H'cap – 1350m
1st – Prince Of Thieves 2nd – Western Run 3rd – Mountain Of Dreams 4th – Hot Fosters

HEZA GURU was declared a late scratching at 1.22 pm after the gelding broke through the barrier gates and galloped a circuit of the track. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on HEZA GURU were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 17 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets 15 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Connections of HEZA GURU were advised that HEZA GURU would be required to perform satisfactorily in 2 official barrier trials and an additional barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

LEVI’S BID (L. Cassidy) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

CHADWICK (G. Geran) and BOLD DANCER (A. Merritt) overraced during the early stages.

LEVI’S BID raced wide from the 700m.
N. Evans, rider of WESTERN RUN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that over the concluding stages, he directed his mount out to obtain clear running around the heels of PRINCE OF THIEVES, which resulted in both LEVI’S BID and HOT FOSTERS (A. Spinks) being taken out and screwed sideways and being severely hampered at that point. N. Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence 14 November and to expire at midnight 22 November 2009.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LEVI’S BID, L. Cassidy stated that after being slowly away the horse could not muster speed in the early stages, and near the 800m he commenced to move forward, however at that point the horse had difficulty making any significant ground under its big weight. L. Cassidy further added that although not entirely disappointed with its run today, he felt the horse would take improvement from it particularly when stepped up in distance.

Race 2: Windamere Homes F&M Maiden H'cap – 1350m
1st –Miss Trish 2nd – Radio 3rd – Our Greatmate Kate 4th – Romance Writer

ROMANCE WRITER (B. Pengelly) was considerably slow to begin. The trainer’s representative was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to the filly’s next race start.

MISS TRISH (J. Murphy) was slow to begin.

Near the 1000m, ROMANCE WRITER was severely tightened for room and had to be checked when racing to the inside of MY SPACE (J. Bowditch), which was taken in by HALLSIDE MAGIC (M. Hellyer), which after racing ungenerously shifted in away from SUPERVOLITO. When questioned as to the racing manners of HALLSIDE MAGIC, trainer S. Watters stated that the horse had come to the end of its preparation and he intended to spell the horse. He also agreed to trial the horse before it resumes its next campaign.

Passing the 800m, ROMANCE WRITER (B. Pengelly) improved onto the heels of HALLSIDE MAGIC and had to be steadied.

Near the 350m, RADIO (J. Wood) shifted out to obtain clear running, forcing MISS DIRECTION (W. Clasohm) out on to PASSARA (M. Cahill), which in turn was forced out, forcing SUPERVOLITO (J. Holder) wider on the track.

ROMANCE WRITER (B. Pengelly) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Approaching the 100m, HALLSIDE MAGIC (M. Hellyer) was tightened for room and had to be steadied between MISS DIRECTION (W. Clasohm), which shifted in and ROMANCE WRITER (B. Pengelly), which was hampered and taken out by MY SPACE (J. Bowditch), which shifted out under pressure.

RADIO (J. Wood) shifted out under pressure in the straight, resulting in J. Murphy, rider of MISS TRISH, being forced to stop riding and shift back to the inside to obtain clear running. Jockey J. Wood, rider of RADIO, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

HERZDARNA (S. Katsidis) raced wide throughout.

Race 3: Elders Real Estate Laidley 3yo & Up Maiden H'cap – 800m
1st – Ben’s Choice 2nd – Flinders Miss 3rd – Toyhero 4th – Days To Gamble

A warning was issued to the connection of DAYS TO GAMBLE, which was slow to begin, losing significant ground.

Passing the 300m, DAYS TO GAMBLE (J. Taylor) improved onto the heels of NEDIYM THUNDER (D. Griffin) and was obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.

Near the finish line, J. Taylor, rider of DAYS TO GAMBLE, was unable to ride his mount out right to the finish line due to it being cramped for room when FLINDERS MISS (M. O’Brien) shifted in under pressure.

When questioned regarding the performance of NEDIYM THUNDER, D. Griffin stated that the horse was disappointing in its performance and advised connections to perhaps try the horse over more ground where it may have the opportunity to settle in its races and finish on.

A post race veterinary examination of DAYS TO GAMBLE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 4: Windamere Homes Class 2 H'cap 2200m
1st – Under The Counter 2nd – Coral Flight 3rd – Kaycee’s Bid 4th – Real World

KAYCEE’S BID (P. Wolfgram) was slow to begin.

CORAL FLIGHT (S. Katsidis) was held up and unable to improve from leaving the 500m until 350m.

Rounding the home turn, POP LEGEND (K. Yoshida), which was tiring, was momentarily tightened for room to the inside of SHANAMIN (A. Mundy), which shifted in. KAADEEMA (J. Letherby), which was following, was also forced to steady.

A post race veterinary examination of BEARHUG, which was under pressure from the 1000m and tailed off, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 5: Mulgowie Farming Company F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1350m
1st – Guanahani 2nd – Marine Gardens 3rd – Way Too Hot 4th – Pumplechook

Near the 250m, DOO RON (M. Hellyer) was momentarily held up on the heels of the tiring CHOISIR LA BLOND (B. El-Issa).

MARINE GARDEN (B. Pengelly) laid out under pressure in the straight.

PUMPLECHOOK (V. Schubert) raced 3 wide throughout.

Stewards questioned B. El-Issa, rider of CHOISIR LA BLOND, as to the reason why after obtaining a position one off the fence behind TEGIC he then elected to shift out 3 wide at a point approaching the 900m. B. El-Issa stated that the horse had a tendency to lay out at this stage of the race and he elected rather than fight the mare to allow the horse to shift outside the heels of TEGIC and proceed forward 3 wide, however CHOISIR LA BLOND was under pressure at the 400m and did not finish the race off.

Race 6: Windamere Homes CG&E Class 1 H'cap – 1350m
1st – Toy Ruler 2nd – Aqua Calda 3rd – Mythical King 4th – Al’s Image

IMAGED (J. Holder) was considerably slow to begin. Trainer A. Cowell was advised that he would be required to provide a barrier certificate for IMAGED prior to its next race start.

TOMIRUF (N. Evans) was slow to begin.

ISLAND TYCOON (M. Wood) was tightened for room and had to be steadied at the start between DUBBY BOY (A. Merritt) and AQUA CALDA (L. Cassidy), which shifted out.

TOMIRUF (N. Evans) raced ungenerously with its head in the air in the early stages.

DUBBY BOY overraced during the early stages.

Near the 900m, CONVICTOR (B. El-Issa) resented being restrained and raced with its head in the air for a short distance.

J. Bowditch, rider of BOUILABAISSE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 200m he directed his mount outwards to obtain clear running and in doing so tightened the running of ISLAND TYCOON (M. Wood) on to the hind quarters of RAVENDRA (M. Hellyer), which resulted in ISLAND TYCOON clipping the heels of BOUILABAISSE, causing ISLAND TYCOON to blunderer, losing significant ground at that point. J. Bowditch was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings, to commence at midnight 14 November and to expire at midnight 27 November 2009.

RAVENDRA (M. Hellyer) shifted in under pressure and hampered BOUILLABAISSE near the 100m.

A post race veterinary examination of TOMIRUF failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 7: Mulgowie Hotel Class 2 H'cap – 1100m
1st – Licence To Steal 2nd – Zekeza 3rd – Maid Ready 4th – So Shall This

RULING PARTY (G. Geran) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, MYSTICAL KNIGHT (J. Byrne) was tightened for room between SO SHALL THIS (B. El-Issa) and TINKLING (S. Katsidis), which was taken out by AL MAZAYA (M. Hughes).

Near the 800m, MYSTIC KNIGHT was momentarily tightened for room and had to be steadied to the inside of SO SHALL THIS, which shifted in.

MYSTICAL KNIGHT (J. Byrne) was held up and unable to obtain clear running from the 150m onwards.

RULING PARTY (G. Geran) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on SO SHALL THIS, B. El-Issa stated that he had been instructed to go forward on the horse, as is its customary racing pattern, however after travelling a short distance it was apparent he was going to be unable to obtain a forward position given the early pace in the race and he elected to take hold and assume a position closer to the rail. Trainer P. Nolan confirmed the instructions. Stewards noted the explanation.
