Hammersley) and attempt to improve. K. Forrester explained that he was of the view that COSMO GAL was travelling well and he felt it was a better option to trail COSMO GAL until approaching the 200m and shift to the outside of that filly and ride his mount out to the finish line. Stewards noted K. Forrester’s explanation, however reminded him of his obligations under the rules.

Stewards sought an explanation from S. Katsidis regarding his riding tactics on LORD BELLANSKEY in the early stages where the gelding settled outside of the leader, which was in contrast to its racing pattern in its most recent starts. S. Katsidis explained that he was instructed to ride LORD BELLANSKEY in a midfield position with cover, however he was unable to restrain LORD BELLANSKEY in the early stages and for this reason the horse settled in a forward position. Trainer D. Bell confirmed the instructions to S. Katsidis.
