Race 1: WINDAMERE HOMES PTY LTD QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 800M
1st – Like A Bird 2nd – I’m The One 3rd – Devil’s Spawn 4th – Lil’ Red Monkey

Stewards have adjourned an inquiry into the reasons for G. Colless being declared late as the rider of I’M THE ONE.

MISS ALBERICI (M. Cahill) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

LIL’ RED MONKEY (N. Yamada) also jumped awkwardly and shifted out hampering MISS TIPPI (R. Goltz).

DEVIL’S SPAWN (C. Munce) raced wide throughout.

PRETTY STASH (B. El-Issa), which had been racing wide, shifted wider on the track near the 500m when inclined to hang out.

Approaching the 600m DEVIL’S SPAWN was steadied when tightened for room between I’M THE ONE (G. Colless) and PRETTY STASH, which shifted in.

Near the 500m LIL’ RED MONKEY, which raced greenly throughout, shifted out and had to be steadied after making contact with the hind quarters of LIKE A BIRD (K. Banks).

Race 2: WINDAMERE HOMES PTY LTD 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1020M
1st – Jett 2nd – Holly Molly 3rd – Piccolo Royal 4th – Touch Me Knott

Correct weight was delayed whilst stewards viewed the patrol film to ascertain whether UTZON'S VISION (C. Munce), which lost ground at the start, had been afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from jockey C. Munce and starter D. Hearn, and taking submissions from trainer L. Wheeler, stewards were of the view that UTZON'S VISION was fractious in the barriers prior to the start and reared as the start was effected and took no competitive part in the race. Stewards were satisfied that UTZON'S VISION had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared. Trainer L. Wheeler was advised that the gelding must compete in an official barrier trial prior to racing again.

HOLLY MOLLY (G. Colless) was hampered and lost ground at the start between ANOTHER EMMA (M. Cahill) and WHITBY LASS (J. Bowditch), which shifted out.

ANOTHER EMMA raced wide during the early stages.

HOLLY MOLLY shifted wider on the track near the 600m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.

PICCOLO ROYAL (P. Schmidt) was momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Stewards questioned apprentice M. Wood regarding the performance of TOUCH ME KNOTT. M. Wood explained that prior to the race the horse seemed agitated and overraced during the early stages, however after obtaining cover near the 700m the horse settled well but failed to run on when asked for an effort rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination of TOUCH ME KNOTT (M. Wood) revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to its near hind coronet.

ANOTHER EMMA lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 3: ASHLEY HOYLING CARPENTRY & JOINERY F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Lady Gainsford 2nd – Grimhild’s Revenge 3rd – La Kirra 4th – Abbidan

As apprentice J. Piper had been stood down by stewards under the provisions of AR81A(2), B. Looker was substituted as the rider of LA KIRRA.

Apprentice M. Wood was fined $300 under AR. 92(12) for failing to claim his full allowance on LADY GAINSFORD.

Correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice P. Schmidt, the rider of 2nd placegetter GRIMHILD'S REVENGE, to ascertain whether she had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner. After viewing the patrol film, apprentice Schmidt elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was semaphored. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards reprimanded apprentice M. Wood, the rider of LADY GAINSFORD, for directing his mount out at a point near the 300m resulting in GRIMHILD'S REVENGE being tightened on to the hind quarters of STRATEGICAL PLAN (P. Hammersley) and having to be steadied.

MISS VITALITY (J. Stanley) reared on jumping away and lost ground.

RIVOLI ROSE (B. El-Issa) was slow to begin.

STRATEGICAL PLAN, THE GODDESS (C. Munce) and LITTLEMISSBIGTIME (C. McIver) raced wide throughout.

Near the 500m MISS VITALITY, when attempting a tight run between LORRIE’S FAVOURITE (S. Bogenhuber) and RIVOLI ROSE, had to be steadied when further tightened when RIVOLI ROSE made the home turn awkwardly and hung out. LORRIE’S FAVOURITE was also inconvenienced in this incident.

P. Hammersley, the rider of STRATEGICAL PLAN, dropped his whip leaving the 300m.

Race 4: CAROMA/K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Billy Aucash 2nd – Johanne’s Diamond 3rd – Levi’s Bid 4th – Falbravo

ARGUN (P. Schmidt) and LEVI'S BID (Michael Palmer) jumped away awkwardly.

JOHANNE'S DIAMOND (S. Bogenhuber) was slow to begin.

WAR STORIES (K. Ashton) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with SIR WILLIAM (W. Abbey).

When the pace slackened during the middle stages SIR WILLIAM commenced to overrace and at a point near the 900m shifted out to avoid the heels of OUR GOLD STASH (J. Stanley).

ARGUN and PRIVATE BOUNTY (C. Eaton) both raced wide throughout.

Both BILLY AUCASH (M. Cahill) and OUR GOLD STASH had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn.

LEVI’S BID had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance near the 100m.

WAR STORIES laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Stewards questioned J. Bowditch regarding the performance of FAIR RISE, which performed below market expectations. Jockey Bowditch stated that the horse had travelled well until a point approaching the 600m and when asked for an effort failed to respond and it was his opinion that the horse did not appreciate the rain-affected conditions and proved disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Price agreed with jockey Bowditch’s comments, however gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to light in coming days which may explain the horse’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination of FAIR RISE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

OUR GOLD STASH lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 5: RHEEM/K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Agent Blue 2nd – Shedaboss 3rd – Tickle Me Quick 4th – Typhoon Fury

APUCKSHUNUBBEE (B. Looker) was slow to begin.

SHEDABOSS (P. Keane) shifted out at the start and made contact with TYPHOON FURY (M. Cahill), which resulted in TYPHOON FURY blundering and losing ground.

ORHTAC (P. Hammersley) raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of ORHTAC failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Stewards questioned M. Cahill and trainer C. Jordan regarding the tactics adopted on TYPHOON FURY, particularly the reasons for having the horse positioned in a rearward position as opposed to its most recent start. Mr Jordan advised that he had instructed jockey Cahill to position the horse in a forward position. M. Cahill confirmed the instructions, however stated that after being hampered on jumping away he was unable to fulfil these instructions and as a result settled back in the field. Trainer C. Jordan stated that it would be his intention to continue to race the horse in a forward position in future. Stewards noted the explanation.

APUCKSHUNUBBEE lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 6: VINIDEX/K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1700M
1st – Binrasy 2nd – Harford Street 3rd – Arabia 4th – Istaar

HARFORD STREET (L. Cheshire) stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost ground.

ITALA PRINCE (J. Stanley) raced wide throughout.

C. Kearney, the rider of CASHIUS PAY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of MIDNIGHT MAX (M. O’Brien), which resulted in MIDNIGHT MAX being taken in and tightening the running of BOOFHEAD (J. Kehoe), which had to be checked and lost ground. C. Kearney’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 11 December 2010, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 19 December 2010. When assessing penalty, stewards took into account C. Kearney’s good riding record.

A. Taylor, the rider of ISTAAR, was found guilty of a charge under AR. 137(d) in that at a point leaving the 1400m, when in a leading position, she excessively steadied the speed of her mount which resulted in interference being suffered by PREACHER BOY (K. Banks), MIDNIGHT MAX, BOOFHEAD and ARABIA (C. Munce). A. Taylor’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 11 December 2010, and expire following the Ipswich day meeting on Friday, 24 December 2010.

ARABIA shifted out to improve at the 600m and raced wide from that point onwards.

Stewards questioned K. Banks, the rider of PREACHER BOY, which performed below market expectations. K. Banks stated that due to the pace steadying severely near the 1400m she was obliged to restrain the gelding to avoid heels, which resulted in her being placed further back in the field than anticipated. She added that when asked for an effort near the 500m the horse did not respond as anticipated and proved disappointing in the run to the line. Trainer R. Milne stated that in his opinion the race was run to suit PREACHER BOY and added that it was his opinion that the horse had come to the end of its preparation and would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination of PREACHER BOY failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Stewards questioned trainer H. Van Hoeyen regarding the improved performance of BINRASY (S. Bogenhuber). She stated that she had not instructed apprentice Bogenhuber to lead, however after improving into the lead it was her opinion that the horse was able to relax well and dictate the speed of the race and this resulted in the improved performance.

Race 7: RELIANCE WORLDWIDE/K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
1st – The Gingermeister 2nd – Aladdin Shadow 3rd – Addicted To Wealth 4th - Mazumah

As J. Holder had riding commitments at another venue, J. Bowditch was substituted as the rider of SIGNIFICANT ACT.

Trainer M. Nolan’s stable representative was advised that a reprimand was being issued to Mr Nolan under AR. 118A for the addition of a neck strap to the gear of ADDICTED TO WEALTH (B. Evans) after apprentice B. Evans had weighed out.

Near the 1100m DRAGONS BLETCH (P. Hammersley) had to be steadied when tightened for room between THE GINGERMEISTER (C. Munce) and ALADDIN SHADOW (J. Stanley) which shifted in.

Stewards questioned J. Byrne regarding the performance of MAZUMAH. J. Byrne stated that at no stage did the horse feel comfortable in the rain-affected conditions. He added that it had been his intention to race in a more forward position, however the horse failed to muster early speed. He further added he was obliged to pressure the horse from approaching the 700m to improve into the event and added that the horse did however continue to make ground over the concluding stages. Trainer R. Heathcote agreed with jockey Byrne’s comments and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to light in coming days which may explain the horse’s performance. MAZUMAH lost its off hind plate in running.

A post-race veterinary examination of LASS EE (K. Ashton) revealed the mare had been galloped on on the off foreleg.
