HEART THROB (M. Cahill) was tightened for room at the start between KENETIC (P. Schmidt) and TROPHY HUNTER (K. Yoshida), which shifted out.

OUT TO SEADANCER (T. Bell) and DAME CASS (A. Smith) were slow to begin.

WISE MEN SAY (C. Maund) commenced to race greenly shortly after the start and hung out for the majority of the race. Trainer P. Nolan Jnr was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

KENETIC raced wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 300m PRETTY STASH (L. Rolls), which had a tendency to hang out, had to be steadied from the heels of DAME CASS which hung in.

Apprentice A. Smith (DAME CASS) reported to stewards that her saddle slipped back during the race, placing her at a disadvantage throughout the event.

Race 2: FASHION & FUN CHARITY RACEDAY MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Eldoshar 2nd – Writtenintherain 3rd – Legazpi 4th – Bodery Varemo

As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, C. Whiteley was substituted as the rider of SHESASTAD. R. Wiggins was fined $300.

ELDOSHAR (P. Schmidt) was slow to begin.

KASH SPOT (M. Cahill), which was slow to begin, shifted in making contact with the hind quarters of BELINDA KRISTIE (G. Killen), which also shifted out. KASH SPOT lost ground as a consequence.

LEO JET (B. Richardson) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Apprentice P. Schmidt was afforded the opportunity to explain the tactics adopted on ELDOSHAR in that the gelding raced in a more forward position than that of its previous starts. Apprentice Schmidt explained that she was given no specific instructions other than to allow the horse to race where it was comfortable and whilst she did not anticipate the horse racing in a forward position, it obtained that position without being pressured and travelled comfortably outside the leader, which was in comparison to its earlier form last preparation, and that the gelding may have raced fresher, having its first run back from a lengthy spell. Trainer L. Van Der Sluys confirmed the instructions to apprentice Schmidt, however was surprised to see the horse racing in such a forward position as he had expected it to be racing in the second part of the field, however being fresh, the horse showed more speed than anticipated. Whilst stewards noted the explanation, Mr Van Der Sluys was advised should he intend the horse racing in a different pattern than that of today’s event, it is his obligation to advise stewards of a change in tactics.

Race 3: MAYORESS COMMUNITY SUPPORT COMMITTEE CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1690M
1st – River Perfume 2nd – Equissential 3rd – Easy Lager 4th – Daad’s Overtime

EQUISSENTIAL (S. Scriven) shifted out at the start, forcing PURFECTRESS (T. Bell) out on to ENCOSTAS GIFT (D. Green).

EASY LAGER (J. Noonan) jumped out at the start, making contact with MITAYDEN (C. Whiteley).

Approaching the 700m LITTLE ANTICS (G. Geran) commenced to overrace and improved on to the heels of BLISSFUL HONOUR (C. Munce) and had to be steadied.

DAAD’S OVERTIME (M. Cahill) raced wide throughout.

BOLD AUSSIE (L. Cassidy) and ENCOSTAS GIFT shifted wider leaving the 1000m to improve their positions and raced wide from that point onwards.

MITAYDEN was unable to obtain clear running from the 500m until the winning post and went to the line without being fully tested.

Both PURFECTRESS and BLISSFUL HONOUR were unable to obtain clear running for the length of the straight and went to the line without being fully tested.

D. Green, the rider of ENCOSTAS GIFT, reported that in his opinion the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit during the race.

Race 4: IPSWICH CUP SATURDAY 16TH JUNE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1690M
1st – Carlson’s Felt 2nd – All Coin 3rd – Dancing Criminals 4th – Twenty Two Red

The start was delayed when MAGIC OPTION (M. Hellyer), which worked strongly during its preliminary, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

CROSS THE STAR (M. O’Brien) and RUFFINO (B. Stewart) were slow to begin.

MAGIC OPTION overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 900m shifted in making contact with BIG MAX (S. Galloway).

CROSS THE STAR and MAGIC OPTION raced wide throughout.

Near the 300m RUFFINO shifted out slightly, allowing CROWN THE WARRIOR (D. Green) to attempt a narrow run to that runner’s inside. RUFFINO then shifted back in, crowding CROWN THE WARRIOR, and when being corrected, shifted out hampering SIR PARAGON (A. Hearn).

Near the 50m THRILLERS (J. Byrne) had to be momentarily steadied after shifting out and becoming awkward on the heels of DANCING CRIMINALS (J. Noonan), which shifted in under pressure.

Approaching the winning post CARLSON’S FELT (L. Cassidy) shifted out abruptly, tightening the running of DANCING CRIMINALS, which in turn shifted out making contact with the hind quarters of ALL COIN (L. Rolls), which was racing forward of that runner and to its outside. Trainer B. Baker was advised that a warning was being placed on the racing manners of CARLSON’S FELT.

Stewards afforded C. Munce the opportunity to comment on the performance of MA ROYAL HINEY, which raced below market expectations. Jockey Munce stated that after travelling well in a comfortable position just behind the lead MA ROYAL HINEY was under pressure after leaving the 700m and proved disappointing in the run to the line and he could offer no tangible explanation for the performance. Trainer B. Guy advised stewards that in light of today’s performance MA ROYAL HINEY would be sent for an immediate spell.

Race 5: BREEZER MARQUEE TICKETS NOW SELLING CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Marculoo 2nd – Chubby Chipmunk 3rd – Kistamon 4th – Atlantis Gem

WARANGA (K. Matheson) began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with NEOMAGIC (P. Hammersley).

Shortly after the start COLONY (P. Schmidt), DEEP HEAT (M. O’Brien) and TELEBOY (D. Green) were all tightened for room between CHUBBY CHIPMUNK (M. Hellyer), which shifted out, and HUFF AND PUFF (A. Spinks), which shifted in.

WARANGA raced wide for the majority of the event.

TELEBOY raced wide in the early stages.

Near the 1000m WARANGA had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HUFF AND PUFF, which shifted in. A. Spinks (HUFF AND PUFF) was advised to exercise more care.

Leaving the 800m CHUBBY CHIPMUNK improved on to the heels of MARCULOO (C. Munce) and had to be steadied.

TELEBOY commenced to hang in when placed under pressure in the home straight, making contact with DEEP HEAT on a number of occasions.

P. Hammersley was afforded the opportunity to explain the tactics adopted on NEOMAGIC, which raced back in the field, being contrary to its most recent starts. P. Hammersley stated that he had endeavoured to ride the horse in a more forward position, however with the gear change of blinkers off today, the gelding did not show its customary early speed and he was forced to steady at a point leaving the 1100m to secure a position closer to the fence with cover. He further stated that following the event he recommended to connections to perhaps experiment with a gear change of winkers prior to the horse’s next start. Stewards noted the explanation.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on TELEBOY, which raced in a forward position today, which was contrary to its normal racing pattern, D. Green stated that he had been instructed to have the horse ridden where comfortable and had been advised that the horse has a tendency to be slow to begin. The gelding, however, began better than expected and when caught in a four-wide position near the 1000m it became apparent he was going to be unable to secure a position close to the fence and he therefore elected to allow the gelding to stride forward to a position outside the lead. Stewards noted the explanation.

Race 6: WIN A TRIP FOR 2 TO PARIS QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 2150M
1st – Hula Lua 2nd – Mr Scary 3rd – Tuskegee Hawk 4th – Endless Shadow

RAUNCHY’S WARRIOR (M. Hellyer) began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was tightened for room between ENDLESS SHADOW (J. Byrne) and SKATE ON BY (C. Whiteley), which shifted in.

SKATE ON BY raced wide in the early stages.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion AMALGAMATE (J. Noonan), which was overracing, had to be checked to avoid the heels of NO MORE BULL (R. Wiggins), which shifted in. ST SULLY (P. Hammersley) and RAUNCHY’S WARRIOR, which were following, were also inconvenienced in this incident and shifted wider on the track. After considering all submissions and the racing characteristics of AMALGAMATE, stewards issued jockey R. Wiggins with a reprimand and advised him to show greater care when shifting ground.

MR SCARY (P. Keane), which overraced in the early stages of the event, raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of RAUNCHY’S WARRIOR, which performed very disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L. Treloar stated that he is of the opinion that the gear change of pacifiers may have had a bearing on the gelding’s performance today, however he was further of the opinion that the horse may have come to the end of its preparation and after conferring with the owners, consideration would be given to sending the horse for a spell. Mr Treloar was nonetheless advised that if he intends to continue with the horse’s current preparation, RAUNCHY’S WARRIOR must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards over a distance of at least 1000m prior to being permitted to race again.

AMALGAMATE lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 7: FIND US ON FACEBOOK CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
