SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From Ipswich Turf Club, 22.6.12

Trainer B. Baldwin reported in the days following the event that a veterinary examination revealed that FLYING HOME had pulled a back muscle and was undergoing treatment.


Jockey J. Brown was fined $200 for failing to produce a medical clearance to ride at today’s meeting.

As T. Banks and L. Dillon failed to arrive on course to fulfil their engagements, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into this matter.

As P. Keane did not ride at today’s meeting due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.


Race 1: Swich On Maiden – 800m
1st –Sequillian 2nd – Hidden Starlet 3rd – Don’tcryargentina 4th – Kiss ‘n’ Easy

Trainer H. Van Hoeyen was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for BABY RASY by the prescribed time.

Trainer P. Youngberry was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for BELLS TREASURE by the prescribed time.

The start was delayed when WISE MEN SAY proved difficult to load. Trainer P. Nolan was advised that a warning would be placed on WISE MEN SAY regarding its barriers manners.

PRETTY STASH (L. Rolls) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, forcing KISS ‘N’ EASY (J. Brown) onto the hind quarters of BELLS TREASURE (A. Badger), causing KISS ‘N’ EASY to lose ground.

WISE MEN SAY (C. Maund) began awkwardly and shifted out, forcing BABY RASY (D. Green) onto HIDDEN SECRET (D. Robinson), which made contact with PRETTY STASH, which in turn shifted out and made contact with BELLS TREASURE (A. Badger), which lost ground.

TROPHY HUNTER (K. Yoshida) began awkwardly and shifted out, forcing MAGIC FLAG (A. Spinks) wider on the track.

Near the 400m, when being steadied to avoid the heels of SEQUILLIAN (P. Hammersley), which shifted in, HIDDEN STARLET (D. Robinson), then commenced to hang out, making contact with WISE MEN SAY (C. Maund), which became unbalanced, blundered and shifted out, making heavy contact with BABY RASY (D. Green) which in turn shifted out making heavy contact with TROPHY HUNTER (K. Yoshida), which shifted out, inconveniencing MAGIC FLAG (A. Spinks) and forcing that runner wider on the track. MAGIC FLAG lost ground in this incident. P. Hammersley, rider of SEQUILLIAN, was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Trainer T. Sears was advised that a warning would be placed on HIDDEN STARLET, regarding its racing manners.

Leaving the 300m, J. Brown, rider of KISS ‘N’ EASY, lost the use of her offside rein for a short distance and as a result KISS ‘N’ EASY shifted out abruptly.


Race 2: Bendio Bank QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Everything To Gain 2nd – Cards ‘n’ Owls 3rd – Grabthemoney’n’run 4th - Legazpi

KHUMBULA (S. Drake) was slow to begin.

ANGRY APPLES (A. Allen) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with POSTAL PAYMENT (T. Bell), which in turn shifted in making contact with EXONE (G. Geran), which lost ground.

Near the 1100m, KHUMBULA momentarily raced in restricted room between RYDASCO (C. Eaton) and ANGRY APPLES (A. Allen), which shifted in slightly.

CARDS ‘N’ OWLS (B. Richardson) was held up and unable to improve approaching and rounding the home turn.

GRABTHEMONEY’N’RUN (T. Harrison) raced wide in the early stages.

ANGRY APPLES (A. Allen) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 3: Employment Advocacy Solutions Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Al’s Delight 2nd – Legal Tender 3rd – Sir William 4th – Sir Joel

The start was delayed when SIR JOEL proved difficult to load. Trainer R. Mackay was advised that he must obtain a further barrier prior to SIR JOEL being permitted to race again.

Stewards have adjourned an inquiry trainer T. Gorring into the reason for CHARO’S RUN failing to wear a tongue-tie, which was part of its advertised gear.

ARE TEE ESS (J. Byrne) and NO GUESSING (D. Robinson) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, PRINCESS PEACH (A. Spinks) shifted in, making contact with HAULAGE (C. Munce).

ARE TEE ESS overraced in the early and middle stages.

Shortly after straightening, DRESSED IN RED (T. Bell) shifted out and made contact with MAKO SHARK (P. Holmes). At the same stage, ARE TEE ESS, which was positioned outside the heels of MAKO SHARK (P.Holmes), as a result of that movement shifted out, forcing CHARO’S RUN out on to QUEEN ROSE (R. McMahon), which had to be eased and shifted out, hampering HAULAGE, which shifted wider.

PRINCESS PEACH and QUEEN ROSE raced wide for the majority of the race.

Following the disappointing performance of PRINCESS PEACH, which did not race up to the required standard, the mare will not be permitted to race at TAB meetings until such time as its form improves in country areas. A post race veterinary examination of PRINCESS PEACH failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 4: Apprentices Qld QTIS 2yo Maiden H'cap – 1200m
1st – Black Olive 2nd – Lady Of Capri 3rd – Anchorfel 4th - Gallinari

The start of this race was delayed when WILD TYPE was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Connections of WILD TYPE were advised that a warning would be placed on WILD TYPE regarding its pre-race manners.

ASHA THE SMASHA (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.

DECIBEL DAN (D. Green) was tightened for room on jumping away between RHONDA’S WISH (J. Kehoe) and LADY OF CAPRI (T. Bell), which shifted out.

Shortly after the start, WILD TYPE (J. Byrne) shifted in, making contact with GALLINARI (R. McMahon).

Near the 1000m, HOLLYWOOD PRINCESS (C. Munce) raced in restricted room between BLACK OLIVE (A. Allen) and ANCHORFEL (J. Taylor), which laid in.

Leaving the 300m, CAMPANARO (A. Erhart) shifted out, brushing EXCEPTION (P. Holmes), which became unbalanced.

SULTRY GAL (R. Wiggins) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Following this race, the track racing was upgraded to Dead 5.

Race 5: Ipswich Hospital Foundation QTIS 2yo Maiden H'cap – 1200m
1st – Rhino 2nd – Pure Reality 3rd – Strutter 4th – Rocking Empire

The start was delayed when STRUTTER became fractious in the barriers. After undergoing a veterinary examination, STRUTTER was cleared to start.

Shortly after the start, DOCTOR’S ORDERS (C. Munce) shifted in, making heavy contact with FINGER ON THE PULSE (T. Bell), which became unbalanced.

Approaching the 400m, ROAD TO MALTA (R. McMahon) was tightened for room between GOTITALLWRONG (G. Colless) and STRUTTER (J. Byrne), which was taken out by ROCKING EMPIRE (A. Spinks).

DOCTOR’S ORDERS, FINGER ON THE PULSE, ROAD TO MALTA (R. McMahon) and GOTITALLWRONG (G. Colless) all raced wide for the majority of the race.

A post race veterinary examination of DOCTORS ORDERS failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

A post race veterinary examination of ROAD TO MALTA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 6: Sammut Bulow Class 2 H'cap – 800m
1st –Zamarski 2nd – Bundy Special 3rd Silverbeg 4th - Contessa

A pre race veterinary examination of FIERY LAD, which had not started for some considerable time, cleared the horse to start.

The start was delayed when FIERY LAD was fractious in the barriers. After undergoing a veterinary examination, FIERY LAD was cleared to start.

FEELING NAUGHTY (L. Cassidy) and MURPHY’S PROSPECT (K. Wharton) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, BUNDY SPECIAL (A. Allen) shifted out, forcing TYCOON COUGAR (P. Hammersley) wider on the track.

Approaching the 200m, TYCOON COUGAR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SHOESHINE BOY (J. Letherby), which was racing ungenerously and shifted in.

FEELING NAUGHTY (J. Cassidy) was held up and unable to improve from the 300m until leaving the 200m.

J. Letherby reported that SHOESHINE BOY raced ungenerously throughout the event and had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.

A post race veterinary examination of MURPHY’S PROSPECT revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised that MURPHY’S PROSPECT will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.

TYCOON COUGAR lost its near fore plate in running.

Race 7: Realway Property consultants Class 1 H'cap – 1100m
1st – Rockin’ Rees 2nd – Misty Warrior 3rd – Hard Work 4th – Just Betty

FRAYED (A. Hearn) was slow to begin.

MISTY WARRIOR (J. Taylor) was tightened for room at the start between BATON TWIRLER (R. Wiggins), which shifted out, and TRUE RED (C. Maund), which shifted in.

TORNAZAKY (M. Hellyer) raced wide throughout.

C. Eaton, rider of ROCKIN’ REES, was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts right out to the finish line.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on JUST BETTY, T. Bell stated that his instructions were to go forward in today’s event, however JUST BETTY failed to show her customary speed in today’s race and settled further back then was anticipated. He further added the filly’s previous starts had been over slightly longer distances than that of today’s race. Stewards noted the explanation.


Race 8: Nugrow Class 1 H'cap – 1100m
1st – Confident Star 2nd – Athabasca 3rd – Kornfeld 4th – Victoria Nile

Trainer P. Strong was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for TIMELY SURPRISE by the prescribed time.

Connections advised that TIMELY SURPRISE, which led and overraced at its last start at Caloundra, would be ridden back in the field today if possible. The horse was ridden accordingly and overraced in the early and middle stages.

ADASHA (T. Bell) jumped with its head in the air and shortly after the start commenced to hang in, inconveniencing TIMELY SURPRISE (C. Small) and had to be steadied.

Near the 1000m, TWO NIPS (D. Griffin) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KORNFELD (L. Rolls), which shifted in.

Approaching the 100m, TWO NIPS shifted in and became awkward on the heels of BOLD OPTION (M. Hellyer).

ADASHA and DARLIN’ JULES (L. Cassidy) raced wide for the majority of the race.

ATHABASCA lost its off hind plate in running.



Race 9: Hays Class 2 H'cap – 1680m
1st – Legal View 2nd – Waranga 3rd – Mystic Mahal 4th – Binrasy

Stewards accepted the explanation from jockey J. Stanley as to why he was declared as the rider of BINRASY and then being replaced by S. Drake.

STOP CRYING, was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2.05 pm after being injured en route to the track.

EIDSVOLD (L. Cassidy) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 1000m, EIDSVOLD took charge of its rider and shifted wider on the track and commenced to hang out and shifted wider on the track, taking no further part in the race. Trainer M. Palmer was advised that EIDSVOLD must trial to the stewards’ satisfaction prior to racing again. A veterinary examination of EIDSVOLD failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

OVER IN SECONDS (M. Hellyer) raced wide in the early stages.

ELDOSHAR (R. Myers) raced wide for the majority of the race.

MIGHTYSUI was examined by the veterinary surgeon following the race and found to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that MIGHTYSUI must undergo
an ECG and also trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.



Race 10: McMillan Kelly & Thomas Lawyers Class 1 H'cap – 1350m
1st – Currawee Lass 2nd – Uppland 3rd – Triple Elite 4th - Solidify

TYCOON’S BEST (A. Allen) was tightened for room on jumping away between TRIPLE ELITE (G. Colless) and STORM THE LINE (C. Munce), both of which shifted ground.

HERITAGE SHADOW (S. Drake) began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with CURRAWEE LASS (B. Powell).

KEEPONROLLING (D. Tanti) began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with COUGAR FISH (L. Cassidy).

When questioned regarding the poor performance of KEEPONROLLING, jockey D. Tanti stated that the horse failed to respond to his riding throughout the event and was uncompetitive. Trainer Mr S. Andrew was at a loss to explain today’s performance and was very disappointed. Stewards advised Mr Andrew that KEEPONROLLING must perform to the stewards’ satisfaction in an official trial prior to being permitted to race again. A post race veterinary examination of KEEPONROLLING failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the performance of RATTLER’S LAD, jockey J. Byrne stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages of the event, however when placed under pressure approaching the 300m failed to run on as anticipated and then commenced to compound badly over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Wilson advised stewards that, in his opinion, RATTLER’S LAD may have got its tongue over the bit, which contributed to the performance today, and that it would now be his intention to add a tongue-tie to the horse’s gear in view of today’s performance. Stewards advised Mr Wilson that RATTLER’S LAD must trial to the stewards’ satisfaction prior to being permitted to race again.
