GENERAL
As J. Morris was to be overweight, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. J. Morris was subsequently fined $200.
Race 1: The Strand Hotel Ipswich CG&E Maiden H'cap – 1200m
WULFWIN and MORE THAN NOBEL - tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground.
POUND THE PAVEMENT - began awkwardly and shifted in.
SECRET SHADOW - bumped and became unbalanced shortly after the start. Steadied momentarily near the 300m.
MAFIA BOSS – Trainer H Van Hoeyen advised that it would be her intention to retire the gelding from racing.
Race 2: Ipswich Liquor Industry Action Group F&M Maiden H'cap – 1200m
Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the photo-finish print for deadheat for 4th place. Subsequently, correct weight was semaphored on the Judge's placings.
PHANTOM WHISPER – began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.
NO OTHER OPTION – slow into stride.
CHESIL BEACH – held up momentarily rounding the home turn, then had to be steadied when placed in restricted room near the 150m.
HONEY BE WARNED – steadied rounding the home turn.
MISS SO GOOD – raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in in the early part of the home straight, then held up for clear running from a point near the 300m until near the 100m. Steadied near 50m when placed in restricted room, went to the line not fully tested.
MISS SNOWSILL – inclined to lay in under pressure near the 200m. Raced wide throughout.
SKYLAR'S STAR – raced wide throughout.
Both C. Munce and apprentice R. Ride were both reprimanded for allowing their mounts to shift ground near the 150m.
Race 3: Riverlink Shopping Centre QTIS 3yo C&G Maiden Plate – 1200m
CHOICE WE HAD – underwent a veterinary examination at the start and cleared to start. Hung out rounding the home turn, inconvenienced by another runner at the 200m, and raced wide throughout.
RED BOWERS - began awkwardly and shifted in.
DDRAIG GOCH - slow into stride and bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
GOOD SHOT - bumped on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities
LIFE AT SEA - began awkwardly and shifted out at the start. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m.
BITE THAT LIP - shifted in at the start. Overraced in the early stages.
GROBBELAAR - raced wide throughout.
BITE THAT LIP – bled from one nostril. Trainer M Dunn was advised that the colt would not be allowed to start until it performed satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop before stewards.
MUTUAL BENEFIT – post-race veterinary examination revealed - was galloped on the off hindleg.
Race 4: Greater Springfield F&M Class 2 H'cap – 1350m
DON'T TELL CYRIL - Due to a clerical error Stewards permitted the the mare to race with blinkers.
STARS OF LOVE – slow into stride.
PRISCILLA'S STAR – raced wide throughout.
Race 5: Matador Barbeques Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
BIZARRE ROCK - hung in near 1000m.
JACK BE QUICK - steadied from the heels passing the 1000m.
AQUATOR – commenced to buck shortly after the start and continued to do so for some distance and was retired from the race. AQUATOR must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
AMAJILL – forced to cover ground rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m. Trainer B Hill was fined $100 for presenting the filly to race with blinkers which was not part of it's declared gear. Raced without blinkers.
GREY MATTER – steadied near the 400m.
JACK BE QUICK – inclined to lay in leaving the 100m.
INDIGO JADE – had to be steadied from heels over the concluding stages.
AMERICAN WEST – raced wide throughout.
Race 6: Providence South Ripley Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1010m
SPINHRO – inconvenienced on jumping away. Stewards afforded J.Byrne the opportunity to comment on the performance. He stated, in his opinion, the gelding failed to handle the firm track conditions today and proved most disappointing.
CONFIDENT STAR – commenced to overrace when attempting to be steadied to take a trailing position leaving the 800m. Then continued to overrace thereafter.
BEACHCOMBER – raced in restricted room near the 200m.
CAPTAIN CLAYTON – began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m.
ROCK PAPER SISSORS – shifted in under pressure near the 200m.
Race 7: Seven News Class 1 H'cap – 1700m
SPEED TO BURN - connections advised that the mare would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. Raced accordingly.
TARTAN WARRIOR, CRUSADER – tightened at start and lost ground.
JAYELEM - began awkwardly and shifted out.
CRUSADER RABBIT – bumped shortly after the start. Steadied from heels near the 300m.
RUSSIAN LACE – D. Missen reported that after being tightened shortly after the start that the mare was reluctant to stretch out and he was of the view that the firm surface today may have been a contributing factor in the poor performance.
NEXT MINUTE – raced wide in the early and middle stages and commenced to weaken leaving the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance, including an ECG, must be forwarded to stewards, and that the mare must also trial satisfactorily prior to its next start.
WANT FOR NOTHING - shifted in under pressure near the 50m.
Race 8: Brothers Leagues Club CG&E Class 2 H'cap – 1350m
GENERAL KINGSMAN – slow into stride.
KING OF JACKS – inconvenienced at start.
LOUPPY BEND - tightened for room and steadied near 400m.
FARMERWANTSAWIFE – steadied away from heels at the 400m.
Apprentice S. Fawke (CASH IN) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in on the home turn, tightening the running of LOUPPY BEND.
J. Cassidy (Farmerwantsawife) was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
