GENERAL

Apprentice B. Richardson was fined $200 under AR. 92(10) for failing to produce her winning rides book. In determining penalty, stewards took into account apprentice Richardson's recent breach of this rule.

Race 1: BRISBANE AIRPORT GROUND TRANSPORT QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1000M

RAMBLIN' DAISY – Began awkwardly.

MEDIA MAID – Began awkwardly.

Race 2: BRISBANE AIRPORT CORPORATION CUP MAIDEN PLATE – 1666M

A MONEY TRAIL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

ATARATZI – Had to be steadied from heels near the 1200m.

BEST SHOT – Slow to begin.

CASINO BLUE – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.

GOLD SPUR – Tightened for room at the start.

MASTER CAT – Tightened for room at the start.

FAMECHON BARONESS – Tightened for room at the start.

Race 3: BRISBANE AIRPORT SHORT FARE STAKES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M

PRINCE TORELLO was a late scratching at 9.28 am on veterinary advice.

TYKE was a late scratching at 12.23 pm on veterinary advice.

BIDZIIL – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

BELDAN – Tightened at the start. Forced to steady when placed in restricted room for a short distance near the 150m.

TIGER BY THE TALE – Stewards sought an explanation from G. Colless regarding his riding of the gelding over the final 400m, in particular the reasons he elected to switch back to the inside in an endeavour to obtain clear running when it appeared that there was an opportunity to improve into the race behind the eventual winner. Jockey Colless stated that when approaching the 400m he felt OUTRAGED, which he was following, was under pressure and therefore he elected to shift back to the inside where he was of the opinion runs may have presented, however, after shifting back to the inside, TIGER BY THE TALE was unable to obtain clear running and was held up for the majority of the straight before obtaining clear running over the concluding stages. He added that in his opinion this had a detrimental effect on the horse's finishing position.

BOBBY BE GOOD – Tightened at the start.

GAYNDAH – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. Rider reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out from a point near the 600m.

SHARDAY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Overraced in the middle stages.

TALON LADY – Overraced in the middle stages, shifted out and made contact with another runner. Forced to steady when tightened for room near the 150m.

Race 4: BRISBANE AIRPORT F&M CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

After being struck in the face by the horse when mounting WATER KISS, J. Byrne did not require medical attention, and after arriving behind the barriers jockey Byrne again indicated that he did not require medical attention and continued to fulfil his remaining engagements.

GOLD PAN – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

WATER KISS – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly.

LONDON FAIRY – L. Cassidy reported that the mare overraced when attempting to obtain a position outside the leader during the middle stages.

Race 5: TAXI COUNCIL QUEENSLAND CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1500M

As D. Carrigg was ill, J. Byrne was substituted as the rider of AGENTE.

As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of SIR CAVALLARO. R. Wiggins was fined $100.

IN THE GENES – Disappointed for a run over the concluding stages.

Race 6: TAXI COUNCIL QUEENSLAND BM75 H’CAP – 1350M

After rain had fallen, the track was downgraded to DEAD 5 at 3.30 pm.

KEVEJON – Raced wide throughout.

After further rainfall, the track was downgraded to SLOW 7 retrospective following the running of this event.

Race 7: HANRICK CURRAN ACCOUNTANTS.STRATEGISTS BM75 H’CAP – 1000M

After further rainfall, the track was downgraded to HEAVY 9 retrospective following the running of this event.

FAITH'N'COURAGE – Rider T. Harrison reported that the mare failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.

Race 8: KEEMA CARS C,G&E CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

Following the track downgrade to SLOW 7, stewards acceded to requests from the respective trainers to scratch ONE GREY (3.56 pm), STORM CRAZY (3.59 pm) and CRACKERJET (4.02 pm).
