Owing to transport difficulties L. Tarrant was unable to fulfil his engagement on TISANI STAR and was subsequently replaced by S. Payne.

LUCKY LUCRE – Slow to begin.

TENACIOUS JACK – Leaving the 1400m was inclined to race at the heels of another runner for some distance due to the lack of pace in the race and had to be steadied on a number of occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the offside suspensory ligament. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for the horse prior to its next start. The horse lost its off fore plate in running.

VAZ DE TORRES – Began awkwardly and shifted in.

TOSHINAGA – Apprentice C. Schmidt was reminded of her obligations when shifting out at the 200m.

DAZZLING KNIGHT – Stewards questioned apprentice B. Appo regarding the excessively slow pace he set in the early and middle stages. Apprentice Appo stated that connections advised him that the horse races best when it is able to obtain cover. Nevertheless, apprentice Appo was reminded of his obligations under AR. 137(d) for setting an excessively slow tempo.

TISANI STAR – Bumped on jumping away. Overraced for some distance leaving the 1400m when the pace steadied and near the 1200m was allowed to stride forward to assume a position in the lead.

Race 2: CFMEU 'DIGGER MURPHY' QTIS 3YO RATINGS BAND 0-70 H’CAP – 1200M

MAGIC SAM – Became unbalanced momentarily when bumped by another runner near the 1000m. Stewards questioned M. Cahill as to the horse's disappointing performance. He stated that although the horse began well, it never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race. He added that he could not provide any tangible explanation for the disappointing performance other than that the horse may not have appreciated today's firm racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have slow post-race recovery rate.

MISHANI INVADA – Began awkwardly. T. Harrison reported that her mount wanted to hang out for the majority of the event.

As J. Byrne was stood down due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 3: MINERS FEDERATION CENTENARY IN 2015 STAYER'S MAIDEN PLATE – 2150M

BECKONING CAT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J. Chan was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for the horse prior to its next start.

BERCHTESGADEN – Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the horse would be ridden closer to the lead if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

BEST SHOT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Placed in restricted room at the winning post on the first occasion.

BELLA FORTUNA – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

ONYEKA – When questioned regarding the horse's disappointing performance, M. Cahill stated that he could offer no explanation other than that the horse never travelled well throughout and may not have been comfortable on today's firm racing surface.

RISE OFTHE PHOENIX – Commenced to overrace approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 1400m.

Race 4: AUSTRALIAN MEAT INDUSTRY EMPLOYEES UNION SPRINTER'S MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M

Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 for failing to declare M. Cahill as the rider of MISS FLYING SPUR by the prescribed time.

READY REPLY – Had to be checked near the 800m.

WINFREY – Bumped on jumping away.

ALL ASSURED – R. Fradd reported that his mount wanted to lay out rounding the home turn.

MISS FLYING SPUR – Began awkwardly, bumped a short distance later. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a slow recovery rate.

SCORUPCO – Placed in restricted room near the 800m.

Race 5: CFMEU LABOUR DAY CUP BM75 H’CAP – 2150M

BEAU BOY – Hung out leaving the winning post on the first occasion and ran wide. Apprentice J. Orman was fined $200 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight.

KAISER FRANZ – Held up for clear running from the 400m to the 200m. M. Cahill was issued with a charge of careless riding in that near the 500m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MAGNETIC STAR, which in turn shifted out on to MAJESTIC SOUND, which had to be steadied from the heels of ATTICA. After hearing submissions from jockey Cahill and viewing the available videos, stewards found the charge could not be sustained as they could not be satisfied that jockey Cahill was solely responsible for the interference suffered by the other runners.

MAGNETIC STAR – Bumped near the 500m, shifted out on to another runner.

MAJESTIC SOUND – Bumped near the 500m, had to be steadied from heels.

Race 6: CFMEU RETIRED MINERS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M

ROCBOLT – Slow into stride. Had to be steadied near the 1000m and near the 800m.

SPINIFEX FIRE – Apprentice G. Goold was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that approaching the 400m when endeavouring to secure clear running to the outside of THIS TIME LORD, he forced a run to the inside of NEOMAGIC, making heavy contact with that runner, which in turn shifted out, making contact with MISS GIBRALTAR. G. Goold's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday 12 October and expire at midnight on Thursday 23 October 2014.

NEOMAGIC – Bumped heavily and became unbalanced approaching the 400m.

MISS GIBRALTAR – Bumped approaching the 400m.

POCOBOZ – Steadied at the 900m. Hung out leaving the 400m, had to be steadied from heels and was placed in restricted room a short distance later. Steadied from heels at the 100m.

Race 7: CFMEU CHECK INSPECTORS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M

Trainer L. Kelly was fined $100 for failing to produce the Thoroughbred Identification Card for HEADLESS. Mr Kelly was advised that the horse will not be allowed to race again until such time as he produces the document.

NUG'S POCKET – Raced ungenerously near the 800m. Raced wide throughout.

PROXY RULER – Slow to begin.

EAGLE'S NEST – The saddle shifted shortly after the start, placing T. Harrison at a disadvantage, and near the 400m the rider was dislodged.
T. Harrison was examied by the club medical officers and cleared of any serious injuries.

OVER THE CHOICE – Raced wide in the early stages. S. Payne reported that his saddle shifted shortly after the start, placing him at a disadvantage.

JERROCITY – Slow to begin.

Race 8: JO-ANN MILLER MP BM75 H’CAP – 1200M

As D. Evans was not riding due to personal reasons, R. McMahon was substituted as the rider of SAY I WON'T.

WARHOGG – Stewards questioned apprentice L. Tarrant regarding his riding tactics, in particular the reason for leading on the horse, which is in contrast to its usual racing pattern. Apprentice Tarrant advised stewards that he was given no specific instructions as to how to ride the horse, however after it began well and found the lead without any pressure, he allowed the horse to settle in that position. Stewards will interview trainer L. Wheeler at a later date regarding the matter.

MILITARY MANOR - Momentarily held up for clear running on straightening. Bumped near the 300m.
