GENERAL

Upon arrival at the course, stewards had some concerns with sections of the track near the 400m and the 500m. As a result of this, it was decided that the rail be moved an additional 4m out from the 550m to the 300m to avoid the affected sections.

Race 1: RAY WHITE IPSWICH CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1000M

SWERVE – Began awkwardly. Jumped a bare patch near the 300m. J. Morris explained that after being crossed and obtaining cover in the early stages, his mount then began to race very keenly and as he was unable to restrain it, he had to allow it to shift out and stride forward three wide. He said because of his, when placed under pressure in the straight, SWERVE did not finish its race off and was most disappointing.

STORMWOOD – Slow to begin.

Race 2: THE QUEENSLAND TIMES MAIDEN PLATE – 1666M

As apprentice J. Orman was to be overweight, apprentice B. Appo was substituted as the rider of I'M SWEDISH. Apprentice Orman was fined $200.

APPLYING – T. Bell was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m. T. Bell was also reprimanded for his failure to ride his mount out to the end of the race.

GALLIC WONDER – Overraced badly in the early and middle stages.

I'M SWEDISH – Slow to begin, then crowded at the start.

KAPPA SIGMA – Crowded for room near the 400m.

TECTONIC FORCE – Raced three wide.

Race 3: OPTUS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

B. Stewart was fined $200 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight on CAPTAIN RED.

BAY RAIDER – Slow to begin. Commenced to hang out from the 800m, went to the outside fence and was eased down by its rider on the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer R. Smith was advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to start again.

CONILAD – Stood awkwardly in its stall, bounded as the start was effected.

EXTINCTION – Hung out badly in the straight and was unable to be tested.

Race 4: SCHWEPPES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M

HARADIFY – Began awkwardly.

ALL CLEAR – Bumped heavily at the start.

GIRLSGOGIDDYUP – Overreacted when being restrained near the 1000m and lost its position.

LOCHLEE – Ridden forward when racing three wide in the early and middle stages and eventually crossed to a position outside the lead near the 700m.

Race 5: CITY OF IPSWICH C,G&E CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M

SOVEREIGN SPIDER – Began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.

Race 6: SKY RACING F&M CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1350M

ATTITUDINAL MISS – Inconvenienced and shifted out near the 400m.

MY BELLA SYN – Shifted out abruptly when racing close to heels near the 400m, causing crowding to the outside.

DANDY FINE – Checked when crowded for room near the 800m.

DIAPHYSIS – Raced wide throughout.

BLACK POINT – Raced wide throughout. Checked when crowded for room whilst weakening near the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer V. Chalmers was advised that prior to the horse racing again she is required to produce the results of an ECG and the horse will be required to trial satisfactorily

COVER UP – Began awkwardly. Overraced badly near the 800m and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Held up over the concluding stages.

T. Bell (PANTALETTES) was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip and that he should refrain from altering his action whenever possible.

Race 7: CHANNEL 7 RQ SUMMER PROVINCIAL SERIES BM75 (0MW) H’CAP – 1200M

Correct weight was delayed to allow J. Byrne, the rider of 4th placegetter BUSSELTON, to view the stewards' patrol footage.

MOUNT KOSCIUSZKO – Raced wide throughout.

PASSIVITY – Raced wide throughout.

BUSSELTON – Held up for the majority of the straight until near the 100m.
