Race 1: CALTEX ENERGY QLD/HART FAMILY GROCERY STORE CLASS 3 PLATE 1000m:
1ST-- FOUR JOY 2nd -- TOO MANY LIES 3rd – RATTLE CREEK 4th-- GUSTO
RYDANIC MISS (D. Rewald) gates were slightly slow to open and caused the mare to be slow away.
RATTLE CREEK (R. Faehr) jumped away awkwardly.
LORDLY (R. Mules) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event and traveled wide for the majority.
TOO MANY LIES (S. Egan) hung in for the majority of the event and had to be straightened down the straight.
RYDANIC MISS (D. Rewald) traveled wide from the 400m.
Race 2: CHAMPION CONTRACTING/DAVID BELL ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m:
1ST -- ETERNO 2nd – RHYTHM NATION 3rd – LEICAZUPA 4TH -- CARD’N’OWLS
KEV’S DESTINY and ILLUSIVE GAIL were both scratched as there were no riders available.
VANGARD (R. Mules) was slow into stride and traveled wide for the majority of the event.
SIR IGER (R. Faehr) traveled wide in the early stages of the event.
LEICAZUPA (I. French) was eased off heels at the 900m and traveled wide from the 500m.
Race 3: GP CATTLE PTY LTD QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m:
1st –SPECK OF GOLD 2nd – SPITFIRE DRAGON 3RD – DEEKAYEL 4th – CRAIGLEA JAGUAR
FLIRTING DRAGON (R. Mules) jumped outwards and then traveled wide from the 500m.
BROWN PAPER BEAR (S. Egan) blundered out of the gates and raced greenly for the remainder of the event. Jockey S. Egan eased the gelding at the 400m stating the horse felt sore. A veterinary examination showed lameness in the near side fore. The trainer was advised that a certificate of soundness would be required before the gelding’s next start.
DEEKAYEL (R. Hancock) traveled wide from the 500m.
CRAIGLEA JAGUAR (S. Galvin) showed no early pace and raced wide for the majority of the event.
SPITFIRE DRAGON (D. Rewald) traveled wide in the early stages of the event.
Race 4: ISIS DOWNS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400m:
1st – CRAIGLEA RAWIE 2ND -- POWER SOURCE 3RD -- TATYOON 4th – MAZOT
SPIFFING and BOLD AUSSIE were both scratched as there were no jockeys available.
CRAIGLEA RAWIE (R. Hancock) jumped away awkwardly almost dislodging the jockey.
TENMOREGRAND (D. Rewald) was slow away.
LIGHT WARRIOR (I. French) traveled wide from the 400m.
Race 5: OMA CONTRACTING & ROSS CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m:
1ST- GESINK 2ND- MONTANUS 3RD- NO OTHER WAY 4TH- JOE BLOW
REIGNING TO WIN was scratched as there were no riders available.
There was a delay to the start of Race 5 as the track had to undergo maintenance work.
A DEPENDANT (R. Mules) jumped away awkwardly.
Stewards inquired into the poor performance of PRIMED (S. Egan), the jockey stating the gelding jumped well and was eased in behind front runners and didn’t handle the extremely dusty track conditions.
The gelding resenting the kick back and proved difficult to ride forward. A veterinary inspection was carried out and showed no abnormalities.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
