Total Prizemoney: $37,000. - QTIS: $3,200.

GENERAL: Jockey Roy Mules furnished to the Stewards prior to the meeting a medical certificate, verifying his fitness to resume riding. Diane Jones, the Trainer of FOREST WHISPERS advised the Stewards (as per the terms of AR 140(a)), that the mare had been involved in a track work incident on Monday 16/04/2007, when it dislodged its rider and escaped riderless. The horse suffered only superficial wounds to its front legs. The mare was subsequently passed fit to race after undergoing a veterinary inspection.

Race 1: Rising Sun Honda – QTIS Maiden Plate - Distance – 0800 Metres - (10 Starters).

1st – CHARIOTS A BLAZING 2nd – ROYAL ALBERT 3rd – ARDEKUHNI 4th – PERSIAN ARROW

Due to an error in the race book, Jockey M. Cummings was inadvertently omitted as the rider for IRONHIDE. CEDE NULLIS (K. Ballard) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start, which necessitated the assistance of an attendant. After being placed in its respective starting stall, IRONHIDE (M. Cummings) became extremely fractious and broke through the front gates riderless. The horse was quickly recaptured by the Starter, and reloaded back into the starting stalls. When a start was effected, both IRONHIDE (M. Cummings) and BALLROOM BEAU (Apprentice C. Gilby) lost ground when slow away. IRISH ADDITION (D. Price) jumped awkwardly. CRAZY LEGS (Ms D. Slack-Smith) raced wide on the track (from its extreme outside barrier) for the entire event. Both the race winner CHARIOTS A BLAZING, the third placegetter ARDEKUHNI were QTIS registered and therefore qualified for the QTIS bonuses.

Race 2: McKinlay Shire Council – Class 3 Handicap - Distance – 0800 Metres - (9 Starters).

1st – DANLO 2nd – MISS JOKER 3rd – ROUGAH 4th – STAR ROLL

KAPELAS (M. Cullen) lost ground at the start, when the gelding was slow into stride. MOZZIES COZZEES (T. Brummell) jumped awkwardly when the gates were released, subsequently the mare lost ground. Approaching the 600 metre mark, ROUGAH (M. Cummings) demonstrated a tendency to hang outwards, and when corrected by its rider the gelding commenced to race ungenerously and threw its head in the air on several occasions. Approaching the 400 metre mark, ROUGAH (M. Cummings) hung outwards off the track, and brushed with DANLO (Apprentice Shaun Mossman). Following the event, Jockey M. Cummings (the rider of ROUGAH) reported that the gelding had a tendency to hang outwards for almost the entire race, and this had placed him at a disadvantage when attempting to ride his mount out of the concluding stages of the event.

Race 3: Metalcorp – Marwills Mongreal Shop – Class B Handicap - Distance – 1000 Metres - (10 Starters).

1st – HOT DICE 2nd – HURRICANE HAL 3rd – GIRL OF FORTUNE 4th – LORD BARON

Due to an error in the race book, Apprentice Shaun Mossman was inadvertently omitted as the rider for RANGE ROVER. ZIPPER CLUB (Ms D. Slack-Smith) lost ground at the start when slow away. Both POINT THE FINGER (Apprentice C. Gilby) and RANGE ROVER (Apprentice Shaun Mossman) lost ground in the early and middle stages of the event, when both horses were unable to maintain sufficient pace to go the early speed of the event. EASE THE FREEZE (R. Lock) raced extremely wide on the track when rounding the turn into the home straight.

Race 4: BHP Billiton – Artesian Express – Class 2 Handicap - Distance – 1200 Metres - (12 Starters).

1st – WALTZ TO GLORY 2nd – HALO TO HEAVEN 3rd – LURE THE LION 4th – FRENCH LORD

The three (3) declared emergencies namely. TUSCAN MIRAGE; GUNMAN and COBBI LAD were not required and therefore were scratched after final acceptances. Due to the mitigating circumstances involved, Stewards took no action against the connections of BRANCH for the late declaration of T. Brummell as the rider of that gelding. Due to an error in the race book, Apprentice J. Rudd was inadvertently omitted as the rider for LURE THE LION. When a start was effected, CHYNA SUCCESS (M. Cullen) turned its head sideways, subsequently the mare was slow away. Approaching the 800 metre mark, BRANCH (T. Brummell) commenced to race very ungenerously, throwing its head in the air on several occasions when resenting the dirt and thick dust being thrown back by the race leaders at that point. As a result the gelding lost ground. Approaching the 650 metre mark, FOREST WHISPERS (D. Ballard) was obliged to ease momentarily when crowded for racing room, as a result of QUICK MAN (Apprentice C. Gilby) hanging inwards at that point. Both the judges requested the presence of the Chairman of Stewards to view the photo image, (in relation to the third placing) prior to semaphoring the final placing’s. An inquiry was held into an incident at the 900 metre mark, were DAYLIGHT DIAMOND (D. Price), BEN BUCKLER (R. Mules) and SALTY BAY (K. Ballard) all appeared to lose ground when racing on the inside of HALO TO HEAVEN (Ms D. Slack-Smith) at that point. After taking evidence from the respective riders involved, viewing the available patrol film footage of the incident and on their own observations, Stewards found Jockey Ms D. Slack-Smith guilty of careless riding under the terms of AR137 (a), in that near the 900 metre mark, she permitted her mount to shift inwards when insufficiently of DAYLIGHT DIAMOND (D. Price), who was tightened for racing room and forced in onto BEN BUCKLER (R. Mules), who was also tightened for racing room and forced in onto SALTY BAY (K. Ballard), resulting in SALTY BAY being forced to check severely and lose ground, therefore losing its racing position. Jockey Ms D. Slack-Smith’s licence to ride in races was suspended to commence midnight 21/04/2007 up to and including 05/05/2007 (which is a period covered by two (2) North West Queensland race meetings). In arriving at penalty Stewards took into account the relative good riding record of Jockey Slack-Smith. Following the event, Jockey R. Mules (the rider of BEN BUCKLER), reported that following the incident at the 900 metre mark, the gelding threw it’s head in the air and resented the very thick dust and dirt being thrown back and the gelding was very reluctant to stretch out for the remainder of the race. Trainer Diane Jones reported that SALTY BAY had sustained superficial abrasions to both front legs in running.

Race 5: Honeycombes Ingham – KW Murphy – Open Handicap – Distance – 1000 Metres – (6 Starters).

1st – SAMURAI SPIRIT 2nd – MURDSA 3rd – PICNIC POINT 4th – CENTA SEQUALO

Due to technical difficulties, there was no available back camera Stewards patrol film footage of this event. TRICKY DICKY (Apprentice C. Gilby) raced wide on the track when rounding the turn into the home straight. No other reportable racing incidents.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.

BOOKMAKERS: Two (2) bookmakers fielded at the meeting (JD Comerford & GN Saunders). (Local Hold $25,280 – Intrastate Hold: (Eagle Farm) - $3,024 – Interstate Hold $6,508 – Total Hold $34,812).

TOTAL STARTERS: 47
