SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Prior to the commencement of the running of Race1 on the program Stewards had some concerns with by the racing surface between the 600M point and the 150M point of the course. Stewards escorted a number of riders to view the area of concern and in consultation with them were of opinion that the surface was safe for racing.

Race 1: BILL SULLIVAN QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

LOVETHENIGHTLIFE (Ms A. Taylor) proved difficult to load.

RATTLE GUN (Appr. N. Ogura) jumped in at the start.

SAVAGE ROCK (T. Banks) shifted ground soon after the start.

BOWLED OVER (Appr. Ms E.Ljung) was trapped wide in the early stages.

I AM ROGUE (J. Letherby) began awkwardly losing ground and hung in during the early stages of the event appearing to resent the kickback from the leading group.

KIM LOUISE (I. Coombes) jumped out resulting in minor inconvenience to MADAM MUK (Ms. M. O’Brien) and BAY DREAMER (M. Abe)

KIM LOUISE shifted ground approaching the 150M point.

LEEMESEE (Ms S, Drake) hung in during the mid -stages of the event.

Stewards spoke with Jockey Ms A. Taylor and the Starter Mr Ian Henderson regarding the manners of LOVETHENIGHTLIFE when being loaded. Mr Henderson indicated the horse was able to back out of the barrier on three occasions due to the security latch on the barrier not being serviceable and stated the gates had to be held manually and the start was satisfactory.

Race 2: JANDOWAE & DALBY BUSINESS HOUSES HANDICAP CLASS 2 1000M

There was a delay in the declaration of correct weight by Stewards to allow W. O’Connell the rider of 2nd placed WINNING APPROACH to view the patrol film available. Jockey O’Connell decided not to lodge an objection to Mr ASIA being declared the winner.

Stewards further delayed the declaration of correct weight to allow the rider Apprentice H. Phillips and Trainer Mr B. Hudson of the 5th placed horse DR HOUSE an opportunity to view the patrol film. Mr Hudson advised Stewards that an objection would be lodged against the winner and the second placed horses alleging interference over the final 100M.

Stewards heard submissions from all parties involved in the objection.

The protest - 5th vs 1st- was dismissed. Stewards accepted that MR ASIA did shift ground marginally over the final stages and it was the opinion of stewards that at no time did it inconvenience any other runner.

The protest- 5th vs 2nd- was dismissed. Stewards acknowledge that Apprentice Jockey Ms H. Phillips on DR HOUSE was tightened for room between WINNING APPROACH and LIVING IMAGE. Stewards were of the opinion that the shift by WINNING APPROACH was not sufficient and the margins were such the protest could not be upheld.

Stewards after dismissing the objections subsequently declared correct weight with the numbers semaphored by the Judges.

Jockey/s I. Coombes, W. O’Connell and Apprentice Jockey Ms R. Payne were ordered by Stewards to exercise more care.

WINNING APPROACH (W. O’Connell) blundered at the start.

ARESVEPEE (Ms M. O’Brien) was trapped wide during the early stages of the event.

MRS ASIA (I. Coombes) hung out during the early stages.

MRS ASIA shifted ground marginally at approximately the 100M point resulting in WINNING APPROACH shifting out marginally. WINNING APPROACH then shifted out which resulted in DR HOUSE (Appr. Ms.H. Philips) being tightened for room over the concluding stages between WINNING APPROACH and LIVING IMAGE (Appr. Ms R. Payne).

Race 3: WAMBO CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M.

ROCKLEA RAIDER (I. Coombes) and MR AXEMAN (Appr. Ms R. Payne) made minor contact on jumping.

COURT YA (Appr. Ms H. Phillips) shifted in abruptly shortly after the start.

STAR THOMAS (M. Abe) was slow to begin and failed to go the early speed.

Race 4: JANDOWAE CUP 1500M OPEN HANDICAP.

ANCHOR BOLT (Appr. Ms T. Williams) was wide throughout.

KING BING (S. Apthorpe) and GAELSTORM (J. Missen) made contact soon after the start.

Race 5: JANDOWAE CLASS B 1500M HANDICAP.

After leaving the mounting yard SILVER FLUTE (Ms M O’Brien) failed to head to the barrier despite the best efforts from Jockey O’Brien and Trainer B. Richardson. Ms O’Brien was subsequently dislodged and remounted the horse without injury. Stewards spoke to Trainer Richardson and subsequently gave him permission to remove the newly added Tongue Tie. The horse went to the barriers and took part in the event without further incident. Stewards spoke with Trainer B. Richardson and Jockey Ms. M. O’Brien. Stewards accepted the explanation from both parties and took no further action in relation to the matter. Mr Richardson gave an undertaking to remove the tongue tie and to amend his stable return reflecting that change to the horse’s gear.

MY LETHAL PONY (Ms S. Drake) knuckled at the start and lost ground

M’SIEUR MONTPELIER (Appr. Ms R. Payne) hung out for the majority of the event.

Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr J. Curtain and Jockey J. Letherby regarding the poor performance of OBERINA LADY. Mr Curtain advised Stewards he would encourage the connections of the horse to retire the filly.
