KILCOY RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRI.6.4.01
STEWARDS PANEL: Mr C. Clifford (Chairman); Mr R. Sanders; Mr W. Flynn; Mr M. Tutt (Cadet); Mr C. Ferguson (Cadet).
WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - GOOD
RACE 1: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.
Following a request by jockey A. Parramore, RAW FORCE was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon prior to the start and was passed fit to start.
On jumping away, RAW FORCE was hampered between MISS CURIOSA and MISS ZAVARGO, both of which shifted ground.
After being slow to begin, CIVIC LEADER then became unbalanced when being steadied off the heels of MISS CURIOUS.
On pulling up, J. Overell was dislodged from MISS CURIOSA.
DARREN'S PRIDE bled during the event. Trainer A. Garland that DARREN'S PRIDE would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
RACE 2: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.
GO TELEST jumped awkwardly.
QUEEN BISCAY and SURPRISED made contact at the start.
Shortly after, OUR DONNY BOY shifted out abruptly, making heavy contact with QUEEN BISCAY, which resulted in that horse become unbalanced.
GO TELEST was inclined to hang out making the first turn.
For some distance after the start GO TELEST hung out and approaching the 600m., had to be steadied off the heels of OUR DONNY BOY.
RACE 3: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 800M.
REO RAY was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, TIME DANCER shifted in, hampering PHILOMELA and TIPPERVALE.
Jockey K. Bell reported that ED'S ACE was inclined to hang out down the straight.
RACE 4: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1060M.
ARCHER'S HOPE jumped away awkwardly.
RING FOR CINDY shifted out at the start, making contact with SAHARA AMBER.
Shortly after the start, SAHARA AMBER was hampered between RING FOR CINDY and OSHAWA, which shifted in slightly.
GREEN LINES hung out approaching the first turn.
RACE 5: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1060M.
OUR LURE was slow to begin, and shortly after was inconvenienced when PROUD SULTAN shifted out.
Approaching the first turn, OUR LURE commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of TOUCH DOWN GIRL.
Approaching the home turn, OUR LURE was held up for clear running for the majority of the straight.
RACE 6: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1500M.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by trainer K. Hill, trainer of the 5th placegetter BREATH, against PLAN being declared 4th, alleging interference inside the final 50m.. After taking evidence from the parties concerned, stewards found that at the 50m. MALLEE FIRE shifted in and away from PLAN, and shortly after, PLAN shifted in, taking MALLEE FIRE in on to TOY OF JOY, which resulted in TOY OF JOY making contact with the hind quarters of BREATH. At the same stage, IRISH BEAU shifted out, causing BREATH to be steadied. In the circumstances, and taking into account the ¾ length margin between both horses at the finish, stewards dismissed the objection and confirmed the Judge's placings. At a subsequent inquiry, both M. Rodd, rider of PLAN, and R. Pitman, rider of IRISH BEAU, were reprimanded and reminded of their obligations to stop riding and straighten their mounts when they shift ground.
DUVAINE, which bled during the event, will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
RACE 7: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.
Trainer I . O'Neil was fined $50 for failing to produce the registration papers for BELLE MURPHY.
Following the event, M. Smith-Lester reported that LIKELY LORD'S barrier gate did not open simultaneously with the rest of the field. After taking evidence from the starter, Mr R. Corvi, and viewing the head-on film, stewards confirmed that the gate failed to open. In this incident, LIKELY LORD got its head down and then forced through the gate, resulting in M. Smith-Lester becoming unbalanced and dislodged. Subsequent to the event, stewards ordered all monies invested LIKELY LORD to be refunded, with deduction of 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.
The club's veterinary surgeon reported that BELLE MURPHY had sustained a minor laceration to the near hind leg.
RACE 8: REDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.
Shortly after the start, ALEX'S QUE shifted in and made contact with a PELE, which was slow to begin.
Approaching the first turn, ALEX'S QUE shifted out, taking LARCOM LAD across the heels of SPACE PRINCE.
RACE 9: RDCLIFFE LEAGUES CLUB H'CAP - 800M.
RED VEST was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.15 p.m..
GENERAL DERBY was slow to begin.
MISS MORLEY was hampered at the start when RUAKIWI GLOW shifted out and HOT FEET shifted in.
Approaching the 400m., LOUNGE SUITE had to be steadied off the heels of JOLLY'S LUCKY and then shifted out, resulting in RUAKIWI GLOW being hampered. Apprentice D. Crossland, rider of LOUNGE SUITE was reprimanded and advised that he must be clear when shifting ground.
ALL WINNERS AND DUVAINE WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
