______________________________________

Race 1: Searles Garden Products/Dick Ferling Cup QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m

SELFIE (A. Butler), SOMERSET LASS (M. Speers) and PETER’S PENCE (J. Kehoe) were slow into stride.

Leaving the 300m, SELFIE was held up for clear running until approaching the home turn.

Near the 150m, SELFIE raced in restricted room between DORSAL FIN (M. Vance) and LEMESEE (S. Drake).

Over the concluding stages, LEMESEE shifted out and bumped SINGA’S LADY (M. Helyer).

Approaching the winning post, DORSAL FIN shifted out abruptly under pressure.

Trainer B. Azel was advised that a warning would be placed on PETER’S PENCE due to that gelding hanging out throughout the event.

Race 2: Brisbane Racing Club Maiden Plate – 1060m

On return to scale a protest was lodged by D. Gill, rider of the 2nd placegetter, ASTRALIN, against MAJOR BLOT (R. Payne) being declared the winner alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the film, stewards found that MAJOR BLOT shifted out under pressure inside the 50m, resulting in ASTRALIN having to steady away from that horse’s heels. However taking into the account the proximity of the interference to the winning post and ground lost in this incident, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the ground lost in this incident had a material effect on the finishing positions of the relevant horses and therefore dismissed the objection and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings. Subsequently, R. Payne, rider of MAJOR BLOT, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

L. Appo, rider of TEAM COFFEY, stated that it travelled well in the early and middle stages, and when placed under pressure leaving the 300m failed to respond to his riding. Jockey Appo was unable to offer any other tangible explanation for the disappointing performance.

R. Ride, rider of VALLEY OF SUCCESS, advised that her whip broke in the home straight and rode her mount out hands and heels.

Race 3: Kilcoy Race Club Maiden H'cap - 800m

MOUNTAIN PROMISE (A. Allen) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, taking ONLINES (K. Wharton) out on to DE LAGO’S GYPSY (M. Hellyer) which in turn made contact with HALF A HERO (A. Merritt).

Leaving the 400m, PRIME QUEST (S. Fawke) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Connections of MOYHARL were advised that the horse would be barred from provincial racing until it established form in country areas.

Race 4: Bechly Transport/Stanley Hotel Class 3 Plate – 800m

The start of this race was delayed due to a power failure on course.

SAMMY LOU (A. Allen) was slow to begin.

MYSTERIOUS MAN (G. Killen) shifted out at the start and made contact with KINESIS KISS (K. Wharton).

Near the 400m, SHOESHINE BOY (S. Fawke) shifted out and made contact with SEE YOU IN VEGAS (B. Appo).

Passing the 250m, SAMMY LOU (A. Allen) hung out, making heavy contact with RED SUIT (J. Morris). SAMMY LOU was then held up for a short distance passing the 200m.

MR BULISTA (T. Jeffries) and SHUFFLEUP AND DEAL (A. Merritt) raced wide throughout.

Due to a power outage which prevented use of electronic scales, correct weight for this race was given acting under Australian Rule of Racing 142. Race 5 was subsequently rescheduled to 3 pm and Race 6 at 3.36 pm.

Race 5: BBC Dgital Class 1 H'cap - 1060m

T. Jeffries reported that MACDYE made contact with the running rail during the preliminary and had been unruly. She added that behind the barriers the gelding became unruly and broke the bridle and she was reluctant to ride MACDYE in the race. As a result, stewards declared MACDYE a late scratching at 3.01 pm. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on MACEDYE were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable. Trainer W. Kuskopf was advised that a warning would be placed on MACDYE regarding its pre-race manners. Due to this delay, Race 5 started at 3.06 pm

0 cents in the dollar for the win of Klairisimmo
3 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner Kalirisimmo
4 cents in the dollar for the place of 2nd Temper Trap
3 cents in the dollar for the place of 3rd Read All About Me

Near the 100m, KLAIRISSIMMO (M. Speers) shifted out and made contact with BENJI’S WORLD (R. Ride).

Passing the 800m, SARAZEN (M. Vance) shifted in, tightening the running of BABY RASY (J. Morris), which had to be steadied momentarily . As a consequence, TEMPER TRAP (B. Appo), which was following, also had to be steadied away from the heels of BABY RASY. M. Vance, rider of SARAZEN, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 6: Tattersall’s Racing Club Class 2 H'cap - 1200m

POLLAXE (S. Bogenhuber), SPANISH SUN (S. Apthorpe) and SHADOWY PAST (R. Payne) were all slow into stride.

Approaching the 1000m, VICE OR VIRTUE (S. Fawke) had to be steadied when tightened for room between SUFFERIN SUCCOTASH (D. Gill), which shifted in, and ABBALAC (M Hellyer), which commenced to hang out.

M. Hellyer reported at scale that ABBALAC was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

Race 7: Butler McDermott Lawyers Country Queensland Showcase Benchmark 79 H'cap - 1060m

Shortly after the start, LITTLE MRS MURPHY (C. Kearney), IMA JOKER (A. Fancourt), NIGHT CHILLS (A. Allen) and SPURTASTIC (R. Johnston-Bell) were tightened for room between GOLDEN TRINKETS (R. Ride) and MR FAVULOUS (S. Fawke), both of which shifted ground. As a consequence, NIGHT CHILLS, SPURTASTIC and IMA JOKER all lost ground.

Approaching the first turn, IMA JOKER had to be steadied away from the heels of HEELS OF HEART OF MELBOURNE (K. Wharton), which shifted in.

MR FAVULOUS and SURTASTIC raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 8: KPC Kilcoy Pastoral Company Benchmark 65 H'cap – 1500m

Trainer G. Ryan will be interviewed at a later date regarding the late scratching of CHIDE.

STIGORI (J. Hoopert) was slow into stride.

SAVEENDA (B. Appo) blundered leaving the crossing at the 1200m.

Approaching the 800m, STIGORI improved to the inside of SAVEEDA where there was insufficient room. J. Hoopert, rider of STIGORI, was reprimanded and advised that he would be expected to show greater care in similar circumstances.

B. Derbyshire, rider of OAKMANTEL, was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in near the 800m, tightening the running of ALBION (S. Bogenhuber) which had to be steadied.

Passing the 400m, ALBION (S. Bogenhuber) shifted out to improve and in doing so forced HIGHER ORDER (K. Wharton) and OAKMANTEL (B. Derbyshire) wider on the track.

ALBION was inclined lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
