Race 1: CENTRAL WEST RURAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1400m:
1ST-- MAZOT 2nd -- LEICAZUPA 3rd – SPOTTED EAGLE 4th-- VANGUARD
ILLUSIVE GAIL (D. Rewald) was slow away.
VANGUARD (R. Mules) showed no early speed.
BLUEGRASS ROCKSTAR (S. Galvin) began well however could not maintain its position early and lost ground through the field where it resented the extremely dusty track conditions.
LEICAZUPA (W. Doyle) travelled wide from the 600m.
CLASSIC CADILLAC (G. Steele) travelled wide for the majority of the event.
Race 2: LANDMARK LONGREACH CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1300m:
1ST -- RUNNING WILD 2nd – TATYOON 3rd – BELLESPY 4TH -- COME PREPARED
BOSE (W. Doyle) was slow away and showed no early speed.
RUNNING WILD (R. Hancock) improved on to heals at the 700m and travelled wide for the majority of the event.
Race 3: GEOFFREY GREALY MEMORIAL QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100m:
1st –KEEP YOUR HAT ON 2nd – TENMOREGRAND 3RD – TOO MANY LIES 4th – MAGIC WALTZ
SPIFFING, EQUALES and CRYSTAL MATES were all scratched as there were no jockeys available.
TOO MANY LIES (S. Egan) jumped away awkwardly inwards abruptly making heavy contact with MAGIC WALTZ (D. McMaster), which in turn made contact with TENMOREGRAND (D. Rewald) which was hampered by CICERAO MOUNTAIN (R. Faehr) jumping outwards. As a results, CICERAO MOUNTAIN(R. Faehr) made heavy contact with CONQUISTADOR(S. Galvin). Stewards inquired into the incident and upon hearing all evidence from the riders involved and viewing the patrol footage jockey S. Egan was reminded of his obligation to keep his mount straight and relieve pressure. Trainer T. Austin stated the gelding would trial with its gear amened to improve its racing manner. .
TOO MANY LIES hung in the majority of the event.
TENMOREGRAND (D. Rewald) travelled wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
KEEP YOUR HAT ON (R. Hancock) travelled wide from the 700m.
CONQUISTADOR (S. Galvin) travelled wide from the 600m.
Race 4: SUNCORP LONGREACH MAIDEN PLATE 1000m:
1st – LITTLE FOU 1ST – MAYBE MAYBE NOT 3RD -- ETERNO 4th – KEV’S DESTINY
PINCQAR (R. Mules) was slow away.
MAYBE MAYBE NOT (S. Egan) jumped outwards hampering KEV’S DESTINY (G. Steele) which was slow into stride and travelled wide for the majority of the event.
LILY’S ANGEL (D. McMaster) showed no early speed.
Race 5: RINGROSE BUTTON HANDICAP 1000m:
1ST- SECRETS 2ND- GESINK 3RD- CRAIGLEA FIGHTER 4TH- EQUITANT
CRAIGLEA FIGHTER (D. Rewald) jumped away awkwardly.
SECRETS(S. Egan) was eased in behind runners shortly after the start.
GOLDEN PAPILLON(R. Hancock) travelled wide in the middle and concluding stages of the event.
RACE 6: BALLARD’S TRANSPORT & BALLARD’S HAULAGE LONGREACH CUP HANDICAP 1600m:
1ST-- NO OTHER WAY 2ND -- LUCASAM 3RD-- BEAUX STRATA 4TH-- JOE BLOW
LUCASAM (R. Faehr) was slow away.
JOE BLOW (D. Rewald) over raced in the early stages of the event.
NO OTHER WAY (R. Hancock) travelled wide from the 800m.
Stewards inquired into the poor performance of JETHRO (G. Steele) which was eased down from the 400m. A veterinary inspection observed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of respiratory issues and trainer R. Simpson stated the horse would undergo further veterinary tests on Monday.
