Race 1: Kiernan Tipping Transport Maiden Plate Distance – 0800m.

1st - REGAL WARRIOR 2nd - BANGALOW 3rd – MULTI QUICK 4th- SO SHINY

SO SHINY (K. Ballard) lost considerable ground at the start when slow into stride. Both KALINGA TATE (Apprentice T. Brummell) and REGAL WARRIOR (D. Price) raced wide on the track when rounding the turn into the home straight.

Race 2: Viking Pastrol Company And Dowling Livestock & Property Class 6 Handicap Distance - 1200m.

1st – SIGNOR PAGOLINO 2nd – FINAL PUG 3rd – UBIQUITOUS 4th- FRENCH WATERS

FRENCH WATERS (D. Price) was reluctant to enter the starting stalls, and on jumping, half reared and began awkwardly. Subsequently the horse lost a considerable amount of ground. Approaching the 1000 metre corner, WAR CHANT (A. Morrison) whilst being ridden hard to maintain its position in the field, hung outwards sharply at that point, resulting in both FINAL PUG (K. Ballard) and UBIQUITOUS (S. Morris) being severely hampered and forced to race wider on the track at that point. MILLENNIUM BUZZ (NZ) (R. Lock) who was in a trailing position, was also inconvenienced in this incident.
Race 3: Grants Livestock Transport & Baskett Transport Class 2 Handicap Distance - 1200m.

1st – COUNTY FAIR 2nd- ARTIGAS 3rd – TANAMI MISS 4th- BEDOURIE’S QUEEN

The explanation by trainer Mr. Grant Wiles into the late declaration of A. Spradau as the rider of COUNTY FAIR was under the circumstances accepted by the Stewards. BEDOURIE’S QUEEN (Apprentice T. Brummell) was fractious in the barriers just prior to the start. TANAMI MISS (J. Felix) jumped with its head in the air when a start was affected and shifted outwards sharply, despite the best efforts of its rider, resulting in ARTIGAS (S. Morris), REGULUS (NZ) (D. Jones), DENANG (R. Lock) and KALANI BOY (M. Cummings) all being severely hampered with both REGULUS (NZ) (D. Jones) and DENANG (R. Lock) being forced to check and lose ground. Leaving the 1000 metre corner VICTORY ROLL (Ms D. Slack-Smith) hung outwards sharply resulting in MOZZIES COZZEES (D. Price) being forced to race wider on the track at that point.

Race 4: Craiglea Stud & Marr’s Furniture Removals Matilda Highway Class 3 Plate Distance - 1400m.

1st – SILENT ENCOUNTER 2nd – EXHORT 3rd – UMALORD 4th – STONY IT IS

REDSHANK (Apprentice S. Kavanagh) and UMALORD (J. Felix) both lost ground at the start when slow away. Shortly after the start ARROWSMITH (A. Morrison) shifted inwards and brushed with SPRING BLITZ (J. Camelleri). It was noted that EXORT (W. Kenning) was trapped wide from its outside barrier for the majority of the event.

Race 5: BHP Billiton Cannington Mine McKinlay Cup Open Handicap Distance - 1800m.

1st - LADY JAY 2nd - SNEEZE 3rd - SHAMROCKS 4th- SOMERSET ROAD

No reportable racing incidents in running. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GOLD CRACKER (NZ). Jockey D. Price reported that the mare travelled extremely well in the early and middle stages of the event, but was the first horse beaten when placed under pressure shortly after turning for home. Stewards noted these comments for future reference.

Race 6: Bode Contracting Weight-For-Age Distance – 1000m.

1st – KING WELLS 2nd – ARAFA 3rd – LEAD THE ACE 4th – KELSO REEF

LEAD THE ACE (Apprentice T. Brummell) knuckled over on jumping. PLAY ME (D. Price) jumped awkwardly at the start and came into contact with the front gate of its starting stall, resulting in the horse being a fraction slow away. Shortly after the start DON SEQUALO (W. Kenning) shifted inwards and bumped with KELSO REEF (J. Felix) resulting in KELSO REEF (J. Felix) becoming unbalanced for a short distance. Approaching the 600 metre mark RAW SEQUEL (Apprentice S. Kavanagh) who was placed in restricted racing room at that point, was unable to hold his racing position and subsequently was forced to ease as a result of both DON SEQUALO (W. Kenning) and PLAY ME (D. Price) (who were racing on his outside) having a tendency to roll inwards at that point. Approaching the home turn, WHISTLING DANCER (M. Cummings) was hampered for racing room when buffeted between KING WELLS (K. Ballard) and DON SEQUALO (W. Kenning).

Race 7: QRSE Huddys Plant Hire Class 4 Handicap Distance – 1000m.

1st – WITLACE 2nd – HILL BILLY HEAVEN 3rd – HOLY WATERS 4th – LONE RANCHER

Stewards approved a late riding change on BLUES TMPO (NZ) with J. Felix replacing the declared rider D. Jones when Jockey Jones was unable to meet the handicapped weight (63.5kg), owing to a shortage of both lead and an available heavy weight saddle. ENCLAVE (NZ) (K. Ballard) lost a considerable ground when a start was affected due to the horse being slow into stride. Shortly after the start, FLING (Apprentice S. Kavanagh) shifted outwards and brushed with HOLY WATERS (D. Price). Approaching the 600 metre mark MISS ASHBY (M. Cummings) hung inwards slightly and bumped with JAKQUIG (S. Morris), resulting in JAKQUIG (S. Morrris) becoming unbalanced for a short distance. On returning to scale, Jockey J. Felix the rider of BLUES TEMPO (NZ) reported that the gelding appeared to be lame in front. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near side front tendon area. Trainer Mr. Neil Byrne was advised that veterinary certificate of soundness under the terms of LR36(b) would be required to be furnished before the horse starts in future. Mr. Byrne advised the stewards that it was his intention to retire the horse from racing.

BOOKMAKERS: Five (5) bookmakers fielded at the meeting: (PC Anderson; JD Comerford; KR Elliott; GM Peoples & GN Saunders).

TOTAL STARTERS: 68

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
