General: Jockey C Schumacher pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(p) in that he failed to obey a direction from Stipendiary Steward Mr John Wallis to produce a medical certificate prior to riding at today’s meeting. C Schumacher was fined $100.
As Jockey D Simmons was injured at the track the following replacements were approved;
Race 1: Tycoon Charlie- N Coyne, Race 3: Tenerani- G Michaels, Race 4: Tycoon Charlie-C Schumacher. D Simmons will be required to produce a medical clearance prior to riding again.
Race 1: Class B Handicap 1000 metres
Enjoy It and Red Bay bumped at the 200 metres.
Race 2: Maiden Plate 1120 metres
Flying Charm was slow to begin.
Sisco Sis was inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 3: Open Handicap 1120 metres.
Italian Express reared at the start losing considerable ground.
Approaching the 900 metres Top Move had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Enchanted Spider, which was inclined to hang in despite the efforts of its rider R Barone.
Race 4: Class 3 Plate 1120 metres
Tycoon Charlie was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon at passed fit to start.
Riviera Playboy was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
In Kalbar was hampered near the 200 metres between Riviera Playboy and Gentle Lover both of which shifted ground slightly. A post race veterinary examination of In Kalbar revealed to gelding to be lame in the off side shoulder. Trainer J Manzelman was advised that he must produce a Veterinary clear prior to In Kalbar next starting.
C’On Darcy, which broke down in the near fore after the race, was euthanised on humane grounds. Due to this incident no swab sample was taken from the winner of this race C’On Darby.
Race 5: Class 5 Handicap 1400 metres
Top Vali jumped away awkwardly.
Partner Required raced erratically in the early stages of the event.
All Winners swabbed except Race 4.
