Race 3
App. R Cox the rider of LAMBERT was reprimanded for striking his horse with the whip in the forehand manner on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
C Maund the rider of TRUE BLUE ANGEL was fined $100 for striking his mount with the whip in the forehand manner in excess of the permitted 5 times prior to the 100m.
As R Kerwin (injured) and A Taylor (indisposed) were not attending the meeting, rider changes were made as per the Stewards Summary. R Kerwin was advised she would require a Medical Certificate prior to next riding.
RACE 1: THE Q HOTEL CLASS 2 H’CAP 1500M-
1st-Simple Stuff 2nd-Samantha’s Jewell 3rd-Craiglea Marilyn 4th-Hope Of Seven
DANISH BEAUTY (A Smith) and HOPE OF SEVEN (M Abe) were both slow to begin.
CRAIGLEA MARILYN (R Faehr) blundered on jumping away.
Stewards advised trainer W Baker that, PLAYER RUN (C Bumstead) which bled from both nostrils during the event will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing under the prevision of AR 53.
RACE 2: FOODWORKS/MURILLA HARDWARE SUPPLIES/MILES IGA CLASS 4 H’CAP 1200M-
1ST-Let there be rock 2nd-Craiglea Convict 3rd Classic Victor 4th-Craiglea Fury
LET THERE BE ROCK( J Warrington) and CRIAGLEA CONVICT ( K Mizobe) were both slow to begin
CRAIGLEA CONVICT which raced wide throughout shifted wider on the track rounding the home turn
Jockey R Faehr was fined the sum of $100 for striking his mount with the whip in the forehand manner in excess of the permitted 5 times prior to the 100m of the event.
RACE 3: MURILLA CUP OPEN H’CAP 1200M-
1ST-Wild Hero 2nd-Try Some Magic 3rd-Laertes 4th-Flying Squaw
LAERTES (S Sweedman) which raced wide throughout, jumped out at the start making contact with DRUMBEATER (J Warrington) which was slow to begin.
WILD HERO (A Smith) and TRY SOME MAGIC (K Mizobe) both raced wide throughout.
Steward’s questioned jockey J Warrington regarding the performance of DRUMBEATER which raced a considerable distance from the main body of the field during the early and middle stages. Jockey Warrington stated that the gelding failed to muster early speed despite his positive urgings. Jockey Warrington further stated that the gelding finished the race of nicely and in his opinion would be better suited in longer races. Stewards noted jockey Warrington’s explanation.
RACE 4: AUSTRALIA HOTEL/CONTOUR CONSULTING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1050M-
1st-Let’s Command 2nd-Missy’s Gotthecash 3rd-Criaglea Tina 4th-Northen Kingdom
KID NATION (A Smith) began awkwardly losing ground.
MISSY’S GOTTHECASH (C Bumstead) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Stewards questioned trainer J Crompton in relation to the improved performance of LET’S COMMAND. Ms Crompton stated that the gelding was better suited today over the shorter distance of 1000m today compared to its most recent start over 1200m on the Toowoomba Cushion Track. Ms Crompton further stated that the geldings work had been good during the week and had expected a forward showing today. Stewards noted Ms Crompton’s explanation
