SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

As Jockey T Banks was ill and not riding at the meeting, he was replaced as the rider of ANABIRD in race 2 by S Galvin. Jockey Banks was advised that he will be required to obtain a Medical Certificate prior to next riding.

RACE 1: THE QLD HOTEL CLASS 2 H’CAP 1500M-
1st-Mayalbe 2nd-Cobbanvilla 3rd-Coronado 4th-Miss Chancesxaar

As there was no other suitable rider available Stewards permitted Jockey D Rewald to ride IMPENDING STORM 1.5kg overweight.

As there was no other suitable rider available Stewards permitted C Bryen to ride BASTION POINT 2.5kg overweight. Jockey Bryen was nevertheless fined $100 for accepting the ride on BASTION POINT when overweight.

WAASIES SHADOW (J King), MISS CHANCESXAAR (S Galvin), FORTUITOUS BLADE (J McKinnon) and OCEAN SUNSET (S Apthorpe) were all tightened for room at the start between COBBANVILLA (L McCoy) which jumped out and IMPENDING STORM (D Rewald) which jumped in. As a result FORTUITOUS BLADE was checked and lost ground.

SKYSTEP (R Ride) began awkwardly.

WAASIES SHADOW made the turn out of the home straight near the 1200m awkwardly and shifted out resulting in MAYALBE (B Floyd) being forced wider on the track.

Stewards questioned Jockey S Apthorpe and Trainer S Andrew in relation to the disappointing performance of OCEAN SUNSET. Jockey Apthorpe advised Stewards that the mare never travelled on the bit at any stage of the event and proved very disappointing. Jockey Apthorpe further advised that in his opinion the mare did not handle the sand racing surface. Mr. Andrew was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance of OCEAN SUNSET other than the mare may not have handled the sand track. Mr. Andrew further advised that he will now review the current preparation of OCEAN SUNSET and may consider spelling the mare. Stewards noted the explanations.

RACE 2: IGA/COCKATOO COAL/MURILLA FOODWORKS CLASS B H’CAP 1200M-
1ST-Sandy View 2nd-Finagle 3rd-Freekeh 4th-Resonating

OLLIEWOOD (L McCoy) was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 12:45pm acting on Veterinary advice after the mare was injured after becoming fractious whilst being floated to the track. As betting had not commenced on this event no deductions were required.

As there was no other suitable rider available Stewards permitted Jockey C Byren to ride PAMALINO 2kg overweight.

OHIO BABE (J King) which began awkwardly and was slow into stride, raced wide for the majority of the event.

NO OTHER WAY (D Rewald) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event losing ground.

RACE 3: MURILLA CUP OPEN H’CAP 1200M-
1ST-Tetra 2nd-Rattle’n’Run 3rd-I’ll Rule 4th-Leica Lion

I’LL RULE (B Floyd) was slow into stride.

KAMADIVA (L McCoy) was slow to begin.

TETRA (J McKinnon) raced wide during the early and middle stages of the event.

A post-race Veterinary Inspection of KAMADIVA revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer J Hearne was advised that he will be required to obtain a Veterinary Certificate for KAMADIVA prior to it next racing.

RACE 4: HOTEL AUSTRALIA QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1050M-
1st-Mount Morgan 2nd-Realee 3rd-Miss Tippi 4th-More Than Curly

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered an application by apprentice T Serjeant the rider of HEART OF MY HEART to have that filly declared a non-runner on the grounds of being denied a fair start as a result of its barrier being slow to open. After considering the evidence tendered by apprentice Serjeant and the trainer of HEART OF MY HEART Mr. P Sexton and after viewing the Stewards patrol film, it was established that the barrier of HEART OF MY HEART was slow to open resulting in that filly losing ground at the start. Therefore Stewards acting under the provisions of AR134A declared HEART OF MY HEART a non-runner. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on HEART OF MY HEART be refunded with the following deductions to apply.

1st- Less 3 cents the win and 7 cents the place.
2nd-Less 10 cents
3rd-Less 11cents

CARRY THE PRESENT (J McKinnon) raced ungenerously during the early stages of the event.

RACE 5: JOHN MULLINS MEMORIAL CLASS 4 H’CAP 1050M-
1st-Canadian Joy 2nd-Craiglea Joy 3rd-The Regal One 4th-Cheque For Freedom

CHEQUE FOR FREEDOM (J McKinnon) and CANADIAN JOY (T Serjeant) both raced wide during the early stages of the event.
