MACKAY TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 27/9/03

STEWARDS PANEL: B CHESTER-MASTER (Chairman) T MOLONEY

WEATHER – FINE TRACK:- GOOD RAIL – TRUE

RACE 1: MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1250 Metres – 7 Starters

MORE ELEGANCEE was a late scratching at 12:20 p.m. on veterinary advice. BONDINI (L Attard) was slow into stride and CHIN SEA (App L Timson) jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 600 metre mark LA SEGRETA (g Michaels) was tightened for racing room by BONDINI (L Attard.)

The track was downgraded to dead after the running of race 1

RACE 2: CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1250 Metres – 9 Starters

As the gates opened DR. FELINE (L Appo) reared in the stalls and LAWSOME (M Barnham) jumped outward. Stewards and the course ranger inspected the track after the running of race 2 after a concern was raised over its condition. A subsequent meeting with jockeys resolved that the track was safe in their opinion.

RACE 3: OPEN HANDICAP – 1050 Metres – 8 Starters

As the gates opened STOPWATCH (L Timson) jumped outward resulting in MAGGEES DANCER (J Stopps) being forced outward onto PASSER PASSION (B Appo). JAAZZEIRO (W Binder) jumped inward. App L Timson was cautioned by Stewards over allowing her mount to shift ground.

RACE 4: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1050 Metres – 10 Starters.

Jockey L Appo replaced Jockey C Schumacher on CONRAIN due to being overweight. As the gates opened MILES ON (H Watanabe) reared in the stalls losing ground. RED BAY (M Barnham) jumped outward inconveniencing ENJOY IT (R Mules) who shifted out brushing DANZIP (W Binder). MRS DENVER (L Timson) blundered at the start inconveniencing OFFICER (D Johnston). As a result OFFICER shied inward brushing CONRAIN (L Appo).

RACE 5: CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres – 10 Starters

Approaching the 1150 metre mark DANIAL’S DRAMA (G Michaels) was checked losing his position in the race when RAW TORQUE (H Watanabe) was allowed to shift inward when insufficiently clear. App H Watanabe was charged under AR 137(a) with Careless Riding and suspended for 3 meetings up to and including 4th October 2003. Approaching the 550 metre mark LETS RAW (c Schumacher) was tightened for racing room when ROCKY (L Timson) shifted outward.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
