WEATHER – Overcast TRACK – Heavy
GENERAL.
Stewards inquired into the reason for Jockey R Pujolas reluctance to ride his declared mount RIVERA PLAYBOY in the first event. After taking evidence from effected parties Mr Pujolas fulfilled his engagement as declared.
C Schumacher fined $100 unable to ride at allotted weights. (AR120b)
RACE 1: TOOHEY’S CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1250 METRES (6 STARTERS)
Due to the late arrival of Jockey F Sendon stewards approved the rider change to jockey W Binder on ACQUIRE.
RIVERA PLAYBOY (R Pujolas) was slow into stride and raced ungenerously at approx the 1100 mtrs.
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 2: QUANTAS LINK CLASS 3 PLATE - 1500 METRES (7 STARTERS)
DANCERS EDGE (C Schumaker) was slow into stride. At approx the 1200 mtrs OUR SECRET AGENT (D Johnson) had to be eased marginally to avoid the heels of IN KALBAR (G Michaels).
RACE 3: HONEYCOMBES CARS & 4WD’S MAIDEN H’CAP - 1050 METRES (7 STARTERS)
RED CHARISMA (G Michaels) and DO THE TWIST (B Binder) were slow into stride. MAJOR THOMSON (F Sendon) jumped awkwardly.
No further racing incidents to report.
RACE 4: COCA-COLA OPEN H’CAP - 1050 METRES (7 STARTERS)
At approx the 900 mtrs DANCE AT HOME (G Michaels) shifted inwards sharply and made contact with JAAZEIRO (C Schumaker). On entering the home straight DANCE AT HOME had to be straightened to ease pressure off JAAZEIRO to his inside. Over the concluding stages DANCE AT HOME again laid inwards and applied pressure to JAAZEIRO.
RACE 5: WIN TELEVISION CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1050 METRES – (7 STARTERS)
ALANOR KING was withdrawn by Stewards at 2.30 pm when trainer M Crouch advised that the gelding would not race truly in the track conditions. Stewards advised that a bar would be placed on ALANOR KING in that the gelding will not be permitted to start on tracks rated slow or worse.
DO THE TWIST (B Binder) and RED CHRISMA (G Michaels) were slow away. At approx the 850 mtrs RED CHRISMA was obliged to ease slightly to avoid the heels of PROVEN (D Johnston). Approaching the finish LADY LUNCHTIME (R Pujolas) shifted outwards sharply and made contact with RED CHARISMA.
SWABBING
Routine samples were taken from all winners and forwarded to the racing science centre for analysis.
