QUARTERBACK (D Evans) jumped out at the start and made contact with MOORABBIN OVAL (R Plumb).
Leaving the 800 metres CRUISING (R Barone) shifted in, momentarily tightening the running of ROBIN THE FROG (R Mules) resulting in that horse having to be steadied. ROBIN THE FROG overreacted in this incident and threw its head in the air and lost ground. R Barone rider of CRUISING was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
M Barnham rider of QUALO STAR was fined the sum of $50 under the provision of AR145 for returning to scale in excess of a ½ kg over his declared weight.
Race 3: GERAWAY PRINTING SERVICES CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1250 metres
1st - CAMBOOYA 2nd - DANZIG WARRIOR 3rd - SHE’S VICTORIOUS 4th - CALAIS BOUND
Following an approach to Stewards by jockey D Lloyd regarding the engagement of rider for POOCHA, Stewards interviewed Trainer L Cowan and Jockey D. Lloyd.
After taking evidence from both parties, it was established that Jockey D. Lloyd had been engaged to ride POOCHA prior to Jockey P Cullen being declared.
Given this fact Stewards acting under the powers of AR8(ll) ordered that Jockey D Lloyd be paid a losing ride fee and be entitle to the riders percentage of any prize money earnt by POOCHA in today’s event.
FIRE ANT was declared a late scratching at 8:01am.
Stewards intend to interview K. Smyth as to the reasons for the late withdrawal of FIRE ANT.

AMROSSAN (A Cox) was momentarily held up for clear running leaving the 200 metres.
FIRE AND FORGET (D Lloyd) was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of SWEET SACHET, rider R Mules stated that the filly travelled well during the early stages of the event, however when placed under pressure near the 600 metres SWEET SACHET changed stride on several occasions and failed to respond to his riding thereafter.
Trainer P Dwyer was at a loss to explain the performance of SWEET SACHET other than to state that the addition of blinkers for today’s event may have not suited the filly.
A Post race veterinary examination of SWEET SACHET revealed a minor skin wound to the near side hind leg.
P. Dwyer trainer of SWEET SACHET was advised that the filly must compete in a jump out to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start.
